i love how small they are and you can see the stamp on the leg or wherever from when they're made. i have a chewy from '77 and about 12 other figures as well as the complete ewok village....love them all. just ordered more from ebay...all opened though
great show people, very informative, i like the concept, 5 stars, andwetmore seams like the guy to hang whith.well to the question:
ok, the first starwars film was reallesed on the 25th of may, but the figures wear realesed slightly after, but if i reber corectly still 77? the line went of to till 85 when it started to not sell as much, so human can rember sense its brain is 2 years old, and you are a kid till ur 18, so the original colectors could be born between 1975 and 1959, part 1
but i was born in 91, and i rember a few store still selling the figures here in sweden, i was probly around 4-5 and the vintage figures still wear sold, so does that make me count? well it wasent a lot of figs being sold and the line was canceld in 85, ok most of the procentage of the consumer let the subject die after the line drop, others keept going, im not shore how many people collected back then, but i think the new trioligy launched quite a few into collecting agen? part 2
and then there is the new generation collectors, like me, after the begining of the new trioligy (which i am not intrested in) my father intreduced me to the vintage figures (hes born in 69, and he rembers this) and i was sold, but the last cuple of year i havent been that intrested in the figs, back to the subject, most people probly dont rember them being sold in stores but a few might, i would sey die hard colectors (born between 59-75) can rember maybe 40% so yea maybe 40% is my guess part 3
I was born in 87 so I was not alive while these were for sale. But my older brother was and he had some toys that my parents bought for him. So of course growing up with the movies, I sort of grew up with his vintage toys. Now I am an avid collector of vintage star wars items.
well i do collect vintage action figures but i am young so i do not remember them when they came out. ONce again i am so glad that you are making this show ive been waiting for somthiing like this. ill try to get some connections for you the best i can. i have some star wars loving friends so i will try to get you some more views. thanks laksirvak
Thanks for helping get the word out about the show! If you're a member of any Star Wars collecting forums or anything like that, feel free to post a link to the show there. That goes for anybody watching us. Feel free to post links to this show wherever you can!
I saw Star Wars in the summer of 77 when I was 6, and I remember getting out of the cinema and buying 5 figures with birthday money. I was a fan from then on. I grew up playing with them, and still collect today, when money allows. Working on boxed vehicles and playsets now.
Not sure I get the whole alcohol thing you tie in with this though. Take care of yourselves, or it'll catch up with you later.
Episode 2 of the show is out now. Be sure to check it out so you can enter the vintage figure give-away that Princess Midori is running right now.
As for the alcohol, Admiral Wetbar and I have been getting together on Friday nights and drinking for many years now. Although this show is released every Monday, We actually film it every Friday. Since Friday is our drinking night AND the night we film the show, we just decided to combine the two. Take Care.....DARTH BEER
cool show. born '79 so I played with my figures growing up. And i'm sure lots of us lost the weapons within weeks of having them. I actually found my Bib Fortuna's staff, that had been unearthed after a rain in my parents backyard. Nearly 23 years later! I couldn't believe it. just thought i'd share that:) keep up the good work.
Really looking forward to this series! Also, looking forward to seeing how many bottles of JD it takes for the Admiral to reach his limit.
In regards to the question of the week: I was born in '77 (same year as ANH was released). Luckily my parents were smart enough to start buying me the original 12backs when they started coming out. I actively collected and played with the vintage toys all through my youth.
Admiral Wetbar can drink ALOT of whiskey. He actually built a small bar in his back yard. He's got a double keg cooler in it and everything. We've been talking about shooting an episode of the show at his bar sometime. The only problem is that evertime I get over there, I start drinking that good draft beer, and I forget about the show! LOL
Great show! I especially like the guy with all the loose variations! To answer the question, I am 29 and played with vintage Star Wars toys as a boy. I am too young for teh original. My first Star Wars experience in a theater was when Return of the Jedi came out, I was 5.
ROTJ was also the first one I ever saw in the theater! I was 7 years old and went to see it the day it came out. I'm too young to remember the ANH or ESB figures in stores. I got a few of the older figures as hand-me-downs from older relatives, but most of my Star Wars toys were from the ROTJ line.
I don't do any customs myself. I collect mostly vintage figures, and I wouldn't be able to bring myself to take them apart. Me and Admiral Wetbar were talking the other day though, about how it would be cool if someone made custom figures of us! LOL I'd REALLY like to see a Princess Midori figure.
well you mostly need new figures with ball jointed necks to do it so yeah.I have the top of darth vaders helmet like you have that goes with one of my fig.if i had a adirimal ackbar that had a ball jointed head i would easily be able to make adirmiral wetbar.
Hey! Im not sure if its vintage but it is rare. I have the 'as seen in the clone wars' The Hunt for grievous battlepack Featuring Captain Fordo and his ARC Trooper squad i could take some pics and send them to you if youd like.
I think this will be an amazing series, can't wait for more, though maybe it can be useful to put "how to enter the contest" in the description. :D Keep it up ^^
VERY good idea about putting the contest rules and how to enter in the description. I don't know why I hadn't though of that before. Anyway, I'll change the description later today and include instructions on entering Princess Midoris contests. Thanks for that suggestion!......DARTH BEER
Alright, I've added all of the information about entering the contests. The first figure she's going to give away is REALLY nice. I'm not going to spoil the surprise though, you'll have to watch the show to see which figure it is.
Great Job! I finally got some vintage stuff. Also for the answer im guessing about 95% of the people.I was'nt even alive during the vintage figures period(1977-84 right?) but im very interested in them.
I originally thought that it might be about 95% myself. What changed my mind though, and got me guessing closer to 80% or 90% was when I looked at the ages of the people who subscribed to this show. I noticed that alot of them were closer to your age than mine (I'm 32). So maybe there are more young people collecting the vintage toys than I thought. Anyway, glad you liked the show. It's going to be even better next week when we discuss the very first Luke Skywalker figure.
i loved this show what happened to these guys???? did they die?

"Vintage" refers to Star Wars toys made between 1977 and 1985. So your item, while a bit hard to find, is not vintage.
