i have "tried" the action shots back at the motorshow london(mine came out crap), i dont care for red carpet pics but many people would do for seeing there fav celeb, and qaulity counts in a camera (i did get some nice pics of the show girls @ the motorshow ;p ). i think all 3 tests are pretty true for what the normal person might use it for,camera buffs would get SLR's so the tests dont matter about catering for them. IMO its good general use test

I made my sister buy the Fuji F30 around new year and I wouldn't regret it, kick ass compact camera. Only decent alternative (but more expensive) would be the Canon i/ixus 850 IS I guess since it has wide angle lens and image stabilization. But then one can just jump up all the way to a Pentax k100D and get a real camera ;D
Because of this review I bought a f31fd, It's Brilliant!! I do a lot of my vids with it, I got it from Amazon April07 for £156 (free del) also bought a 2 gig card with it (£25) can't fault it for size & cost :)
the test is mainly on Fuji strong point. Night shot, action, which used high ISO. Fuji is very good with High ISO, no one come close in digital compact. The picture quality is I believe is not correctly done. Canon never been that bad, unless it was tested using high ISO like shown here. IF you like action fotos, night shot, you better go for Fuji, otherwise I'd prefer Canon for all around use.
The Canon is horrible for all round use. The pics from the Fuji are excellent, even in bright daylight. Afterall, photography is all about the light, and that's where the Fuji excels at, making it a much superior all rounder.
if you're happy with what you're buying, good for you. afterall it's not completely the camera that makes a great foto, but the people who's using it.
And what is this "other" you are talking about? Images there you don't want sharpness, fast focus and a camera which is great in picking up light? Atleast the 850 modell got 28 mm wide angle lens, the 900 don't, does it?
f31fd will be my first digital camera. I think that is the best compact digital camera in the today´s market, because with 6.3 megapixels takes much better photos than other cameras that have higher megapixels.
Many people think only in the megapixels, (if has more megapixels the camera better), but it is not true.
We have to value many other things before the buy of one camera, like performance of highs isos, battery duration, camera visor resolution...
