Looks like you have slowly been making your way on that Briggs engine.
If you want I could make a video on how to put that governor linkage back together, otherwise it might to blow itself up. That carb should also be able to be rebuilt, becuase they can be hard to find.
I decided to remove the governor as it makes the project simpler and less expensive. But if you did make a vid on that, it would certainly be useful to other youtubers and myself if I wanted to rebuild the governor on one of these.
I think I will rebuild the carb as I can't find one even after looking for 3 months!
In this carb the 'jet' stops the throttle closing to idle speed!? What a weird problem for a carb to have!
I would try to rebuilt the original carb, if that doesen't work, get a carb/tank from a newer Briggs like this, it will bolt right on, and you'll have the gastank and carb in one piece, so no fuel lines etc. to worry about. Good luck!
@kiarra00 I have tried to find one of the tank/carbs for about 2 months and no luck yet :( I was hoping my friend would find one in his 'engine mound'.
rebuild it its a classic . if you can`t find parts the cut the intake of the old carb and weld it to the new carb believe it would work but keep it as short as possible so the engine can breathe. good luck!
@gpzDave thank you and good luck. the cheaper way is to cut the intake off the old carb but ,if you have a bit of money and time rebuilding the old carb would be a good investment.
@cameramonkey2 Haha yes I admit it ;)

Hey Dave, Liked watching you try to get briggs running, even if it never runs you get an (A) for all your effort, well done.

Look & ask around for a Tillotson carb.
Some of those will bolt to the intake manifold.

@dc5000123 I'll do that, so far I've only searched for B&S carbs on ebay, thanks ;)

you should rebuild the old card but adjust the throttle of the card it should run alot better
briansfarm1 1 year ago
@briansfarm1 It's kinda weird, the 'jet' stops the throttle closing all the way, rebuild will give a bit more info.
gpzDave 1 year ago
@gpzDave sorry if i didnt explain that to well i ment to say rebuild the carberator because those old carberators are hard to find
briansfarm1 1 year ago
@briansfarm1 They're hard to find alright! It's an old engine and most have been scrapped I guess.
