Run your keyboard thru a Boss RT-20..I think you'll like the Leslie sound better than anything you can buy built in. I think the sound if good, Hammond has so many variations..its hard to knock the sound unless you know what stops youre trying to compare it to.
Thanks. Organ sounds kind of Sugarloaf / Green Eyed Lady ish. Not too bad a tone for a keyboard that isn't a dedicated Hammond clone. Hauling around as few keyboards as possible is major priority for most part time gigging musicians. I can see using the XS or XF for sequencing new ideas at home and then letting the band take over non organ parts for live performances.
The Motif has other great organs as well, you can customize rotary settings, drive horn, etc. I can get a really thick leslie sound with a few tweaks. People should not be so dismissive about the Motif because it KICKS FUCKING ASS.
Why is everyone so fixed on sounding exactly like a real Hammond? Sure it's the classic sound and close replication is neat, but this still sounds really good.
pas mal.. mais ce n'est qu'une "nappe" il n'y a pas la matière en dessous, le son saturé de Leslie est leger, les roues-phoniques ne sonnent pas, mais ça reste au dessus de la moyenne.
New Nord Series is so cool!! sound like a true hammond b3. great simulations. this?? emm. . . its a toy. i have a korg and its better organ sound like this. but good video.
You play well, but the sound is very far from today's best hammond simulations. If you want to get closer to the authentic organ sound, just choose the B4 II ! I guess that these days are the last time for the hardware synths... The cheepest synth plugins are much better than the sounds of the most expensive keyboards today...
For the price you spent for this Motif, you can buy a very serious Macbook, sound card and a couple of fine synth softwares plus a good controller keyboard..
Nothing comes even close to the Clavia Nord Series as a Hammond simulator...I recommend the Nord Electro 3 (for the money) or the Stage series. The Motif doesn't even touch it lol
@oysterlovers Try the Clavia Nord Electro 3. I have it, it's hammond simulation really kicks ass! Every aspect of the original hammond's sound (cable leakage, tonewheel interference, key click, etc...) it's emulated. And it emulate also Farfisa Compact Deluxe and Vox Continental transistor organs. I payed it about 1800 euros 1 year ago
@tvseal0001 Well, there are audible differences from the NE2 vs NE3 organ simulations (this later being the better) but obviously the NE2 hammond organ emulation is better than any yamaha/korg/roland workstation. And yes, as now Clavia sells the NE3, a lot of NE2 can be found 2nd hand for very good prices
@tvseal0001 yeah I mean personally...for the difference in price versus difference in reproduction quality...I'd definitely go for the NE2 for now...especially for those that are cost conscious. if not ...then yeah obviously go for the NE3. The addition of onboard reverb and amp modelling as well as attention to leakage and the desirable "imperfections" of the original hammond B3 / A100 are definitely a welcomed addition in the NE3. On a side note, I much prefer the layout of the NE2 though.
@oysterlovers Nord Electro 2 - you can probably get one for around $1000 or less right now on ebay or craigslist. Ive been using mine for 4 years live and recording and I primarily play Organ
@oysterlovers type in used Hammonds online theres a site that lists by state. I found mine in Parma Ohio. They have some pretty good ones and cheap to
@gyongyosigabor Really like the idea of going the controller/software route versus buying a workstation keyboard but am a) finding it difficult to find a great standalone 88-note controller with a nice piano action and b) the software library video examples (e.g. Native Instruments) don't sound nearly as full/rich/convincing as sound demos from hardware manufacturers. Maybe Yamaha and Kurzweil will release their libraries as software? Until then, am still (unfortunately) looking at workstations.
i feel as if this guy is more book smart in music theory, ronald is someone who is naturaly gifted with music, he plays the way HE plays, i feel like it would be hard being a musician who studied for years to be able to play on that imrpov level.
but yessir you need to collab with ronald, hes also giving exposer to other keyyboardists that are just as good as him, hes great for keyboardists exposer now.
GOOOD!!! you're awsomeee! you play so perfect!! but the hammond -live- is incomparable, its obvius when its recorded we cant hear all they small harmonics... but thats another history..

I really don't like this hammond sound...I don't know why an expansive key like this has got a cheap hammond simulation...

I feel like you're missing a volume pedal (FC-7), and I think you're trying to achieve the same thing with the modulation wheel. Correct?
Nice sound though. Got a Tyros 2 myself.
As far as a Hammond replacement, I think Yamaha takes you as close as you can get. =/
For a real Hammond sound you still would need a genuine Hammond organ unfortunately.

tiene razon pero nada reemplazara en placer de tocar un veradero sinte, ademas en vivo es mas practico por ahora.
you are rigth but nothing will replace the pleasure of playing with a real synth, on stage is better, by now
