i have the 2010 onza bird and it has normal v brakes they look about as good as the ones on the rip you were riding but i am tring to upgrade the brakes to help me land on thiner walls and stuff.
@BrodieBiking yes you need the evo II mounts, if you are buying the new 2011 hs33 than all the mounts and adapters come in the box with the brakes, well they do if you buy it from `tarty bikes` :)
Yeah its a really good bike, but the v brakes aint too good expecialy not in the wet :L but i bought some 'phatpads' for the back, there wet and dry pads and there suppost to make the brakes proform close to hydraulic brakes. But if you can afford it you should spend a bit more and get the disk brakes.
I want to buy the 2011 version of the onza rip but some guy told me that normal v brakes arent strong enough??? Can someone please tell me about this! Cause this would be my first trial bike and i dont want to have any problems like having too weak brakes! Please help!!!
nice man i gettin one for christsmas me thinks and u live in uk??? do u still ride this bike aswell like does it last a while cuz my bmx got wrecked well easy so u kno.... also wouldnt it be better with disk brakes???
@LFCLEWIS4 yea in the south east. yea i still ride it now and all i have had to do is replace the left hand side crank arm which is easy enough. yea disk brakes would be alot better, the onza pro is pretty much the sae as mine but has diskbrakes. but i now have hydraulic hs33 brakes on grinded rims, its alot better than v brakes and just as good as disks.
I was Gonna Get but... Just the brakes u-brakes or w.e are on it so insted i settled for onza comp witch was 600 and sumit pound dearer ;L so yeh just the brakes put me off but u proved me wrong :)
thats some nice riding mate im subscribing i ride the onza ska there pretty much the same any way keep the vids coming ill get some on soon later bud ;)

If u look on a Website called 'trashzen' they have realy good tutorials on eveything from begginer to expert. Also the 'ryan leach- master the art of trials' dvd is also a great help. :)
Harleylogan- you should start by pulling an endo then hold your backbrake and lean backwards and then just hop later you'll find an area your comfortable with :) hope it helps
Yea, ita a good bike and it weighs 21 pounds. But tbh the brakes in the wet are terrible but some good wet and dry pads will sort that out. Also u could grind the rim which i done today, makes them so much better. :)
hey, matt. Im planning on buying this bike. and im worried that its not gonna be what I want. Im hoping its light. somewhere around 20 pounds.. do you think you could tell me how heavy this sick thing is? thanks bub.
Yea its an amazing bike great for beginners as it has a short wheel bas and it it light.
The brakes are amazing too they are better than the hydraulics on my old bike aslong as you keep them well maintained . Also it is quite cheap. I got mine second hand off of ebay for £190 BARGIN :)
Since you are used to BMX (I may be mistaken) You might like to try the 24" Inspired element which has just come out this year...Now it is a tad expensive at £900 but if you want something a little bit more than the one in this video but still 24" Take a look at the ONZA ZOOT 2010 it is very well spec'd for the price :)
