Well I use my netbook for leisure surfing at my local library. We've got free Wifi access and electrical power there.

its seriously noob as advertisement.with these stupid silly uesless laptops,you wont leap ahead but you will go behind.Pcs dont make you smart but your knowledge and your ability to understand stuff...computer is one way to understand stuff but there are many more ways to become smarter. Kids shouldnt be in advertisement(they need love more than having laptops).

just a few years ago these configurations would be that of a decent computer (1.6ghz, 512mb RAM) especially since most of them run linux that is more than enough.
i dont agree with the OLPC's mission, i think food and water is more important. but i do see a realistic use of these pc's as an inexpensive secondary "on the go" laptop.
so in that sense, you are right, the ad is stupid

@skateasian Of course who ever said it wasn't? But the point is to be able to drive the kids able to study and help them as much as possible. Help them to become fluent in an age where computers are essential. Many of the schools in Africa have low teaching standards, its not much point if you go to school but don't learn much. The OLPC targets this very issue.
