Hearns didn't want to mess with benitez too much on the ropes because he felt he was winning outside and he was but i thought he should have unloaded on benitez' body more on the ropes. Benitez defense on the ropes works well against a guy like duran but hearns is taller and faster and i think he eats benitez up there. He did at times..

I think it's more likely that Hearns right hand is hurt and he wants to box. Something has to be wrong with his right hand, he's just not throwing it.

He did knacker his hand in this fight and didn't defend the title until early 1984.
