  • Vicar of Dibley :L

  • Thumbs up if Vicar of Dibley brought you here!

  • Fuk N A..................That is all

  • What an awesome vocal, Yvonne Fair cut her teeth backing James Brown before securing a solo contract with Motown. 'Somebody call the police, that woman down there is a doggone thief', I'm there in the church feeling this woman's pain. True SOUL.

  • silverstartrucker

And are you still married to her? I would have divorced her on the grounds of mental cruelty - to the music industry lol.

Have you heard Kim Weston's version. Although Yvonne Fair's rendition is amazingly highly emotive.

  • Wowwwwwwwwwww i remember this when i was a little girl....absolutely fabulous..i sang into ma hairbrush most days wooooohooooooo

  • I have not heard this song since the gorgeous Tess Tickle performed this at the legendary and sorely missed Albury Hotel, Sydney in 1998 i think it was. Love it!!

  • Years ago the excellent BBC disc jockey Johnnie Walker played this on his Radio One lunchtime show. I loved everything about it, the backing, Yvonne's voice and the great lyrics, and just had to buy a copy. I played this to my (now) ex wife, recently, and she still doesn't like it...I love it and always will...

  • The first record I ever brought, which shows that even at 7, I had great taste. What a tune!

  • Sometimes it works ok out in the end xx

  • What a song! This is SOUL. It's one of my top three records of all time.

  • I am in love with my best friend. He's married. When I finally told him how I felt he told me he would never have married her had he known.

This song is the theme tune to my life.

  • @M1SSM4R5 ...that's is a sad story...i hope you find great happiness with someone else x

  • @jackywisdom Thank you, that's very kind.

  • @M1SSM4R5

O...M...G! Me too... I know how you feel EXACTLY. But I will NEVER, EVER interfere with his marraige now, or hid beautiful children whom I have got to know quite well :( I will NEVER marry now.

  • Never say never, Katie.

My 'best friend' is now onto his second affair, his wife is still clueless, whilst I am expecting a baby with my Fiance in February.

I was lucky it wasn't me, because I would have been the one being cheated on!

    Everything happens for a reason.xx

  • @M1SSM4R5 Maybe you should get another song!

  • @fntime I did, a while ago.

    I had a lucky escape!

  • @M1SSM4R5my best friends wedding xxx

  • hope youve met mr right

  • @hansypansy5 Yes, we're expecting a baby in february whilst the married one is onto his second affair and his poor wife is still clueless.

I was very lucky to escape!

  • @M1SSM4R5

Oh no...that's tragic...for ALL of you : ( x Please don't let it control the rest of your life though...while your heart is aching for what may have been...you might miss what CAN be !! ; ) x

  • @M1SSM4R5 Honey, that's easy for him to say now. He's bunging you on. If he had truly had feelings for you, he would've at least tried to suss you out before he married her. The very fact that he married someone else says it all. He's telling you that now because it bolsters his ego to think of you pining away for him. He might be your best friend but he's not a real friend. Go and fall head over heels for someone who truly wants you, loves you, and wouldn't dream of hurting you like this.

  • vicar of dibley it should have been me epic !!

  • Did anyone see Dawn French (in the Vicar of Dubley) mime this song? It was a hoot AND a toot...

  • OMG! I can't believe I've found this! I heard this (or a remake) back in the early 90s and recorded it on tape - ended up losing that tape but this song was one that I always remembered because I kept laughing at the visuals (esp. with the line, "somebody call the police, that woman down there is a doggone/no-good thief". =)

  • Absolutely top drawer, and an absolute classic, timeless tune. Yvonne must have been pissed off with some guy in her lifetime, the way she so fiercely sing's this tune, you can tell she mean's every word!!! That guy walking down the aisle must have been shitting himself!! and to have the cheek to "Turn to her and smile" I'd have been heading for the back door!! Great post LOL

  • @silverstartrucker ...indeed it was worth it! :-)

  • girlfriend sings her face off on this one.

  • Che bella canzone del '76.

Prima nel buio delle Disco si aspettavano i lenti per invitare le ragazze.

    Che sensazioni!!!!

    Ps.Che interpretazione e che voce.

  • This is the only version worth listening to. In the charts here for 11 weeks, got to number 5.

  • i love this in that episode of vicar of dibley

  • Originally recorded by Kim Weston if I remember correctly, then later by Gladys Knight & The Pips and Yvonne Fair - this being her ONLY UK hit (in 1976). Shameful, but hardly surprising I'd say, given the average UK pop fan's appalling taste in music!

  • Am v. in love with someone but he is taken!!So this song is very dear to my heart.!!As he married on the rebound ! Big mistake !!!!! He shd hav waited for me!!"!! He also thinks so but is 2 nice to ruin his other halfs life !! Maybe thats why I love him so much.

  • WTF! The animal was a kiddie fiddler!!! Yes i do believe also that this world would be a lot better off without people 'Fuckups' like you!

  • Never wished anybody dead and never have, even though in a real world certain people should be executed! Just enjoy this song and stop banging on about a kiddie fiddler!

  • This was funny in the vicar of dibley.

  • Every time i hear this song it reminds me of the vicar of dibley! lol!

  • "Somebody call the poe-leece, that woman down there is a doggone thief . . . take your hands off of me!!!" And, Ms. Fair was excellent in Lady Sings The Blues!! RIP.
