This problem could have been avoided if the humans would have planted electric mines place all over protective ceiling with endless energy being directly transferred into each electric mine so that it can be reusable and will help eliminate most of the sentinels. Making it a trap for the enemy.

Consider this: it's impossible for the year to be 2199. The time it would take for each Zion seed population of 24 persons to grow and develop their city and its supporting technology like antigravity in their giant ships would be a few hundred years minimum for each cycle. So if this is the 6th cycle, I suggest the year to be more like 3199. Also, the machines would have to give the 24 persons food and technology to get them started or they wouldn't survive, especially underground.

I liked Revolutions when I first saw it, but it took me years to truly appreciate it as a masterful film. Speaking only about the actions scenes, nothing has ever equaled what these matrix films did.

Apparently, it is said on matrix wikia that another war started even after that Neo managed to bring peace between the humans and the machines... Reason: The humans built another zion more defended than the previous one without the autorisation of the machines thus starting another war. This happens every 500 years or so, it appears... A prophet is summoned and brings peace back before a new conflict starts once again...

You can point out weaknesses in the human's defense, but ultimately it never mattered. the humans were outmatched before the battle ever began:

- the defenders were outnumbered more than a 1000 to one

- the sentinels didn't care if they died in the attack (suicide troops)

- the sentinels acted collectively, and could improvise on the fly

- the defenders couldn't count on key segments of their defense system (outlying tunnels/ships with EMPs)

- the sentinels destroyed Zion 5 times before

@Kakerot4141 It is a good point; but think about it: this was a last moment resource, kind of desperate defense. If the EMP equiped vessels were not betrayed by Bane-Smith, they would've ambushed almost all the attack force, in key tunnel intersections, with coordinated blows of EMP

Besides that, remember that all machine advance relies on the diggers, it would've been primary targets for the vessel-plot; how many of them does the machines had, 3 or four? it is and easy task.

@unrealdylan I'm not sure about Gears, but Halo had the Colossus, which for some reason went out of service instead of attaching guns to it, as well as various prototype suits meant for standard infantry instead of a Spartan, as seen in Halo Legends. I'm sure they did but a Spartan is more powerful than an APU, so they probably wouldn't bother.

@romaggot thats probably because they were using the guns for defense. i mean as you see later in the movie the emp wipes out all of there power. besides in the first movie they also have that electricity gun so its obvious its not the only weapon.
