As someone who's a Christian Scientist I find it funny that you're using the NIV bible because we use the King Jame's Version of the Bible. If you're going to mock a religion, at least get your facts straight! i've personally been in CS all my life and read the scripture and though this is poking fun at it it is actually pretty accurate. They believe that diseases come from an error in "mortal mind" or not knowing you are really god's child, which is pretty freaking ridiculous when you think about it. I've sat around a table with Christian "scientists" poking fun at cancer and saying that it's all in the person's head. Utter nonsense.
Why not read Science and Health yourself then make the big decision of weither you like CS or not. I practice Christian Science and absolulely love it. I go to doctors. I take medicine. People are afraid of they do not understand. If I was not a Christian Scientist, I would love to know what the religion is about. It definately is for thinkers and not sheep. It is based on love, no fear, and free thinking. They do not diss other beliefs, which I love. I think more Spiritually about life.
This video addresses a huge misunderstanding about christian science. There is no directive in christian science which says "don't go to a doctor" or "never take medical medicine". A lot of people trust in the healing method of christian science because of the great experiences they made or friends of them had. So a lot of christian scientists don't go to a doctor because they don't need to go to a doctor. Christian Science helped me in a lot of cases.
that's not true at all, at least for my church. They definitely implied that doctors and medicine were wrong when, idk, they said that medicine is a lie and told horror stories about people leaving cs only to go to the doctors and die in surgery. My optimism towards my health and the fact i have a good immunity because my parents let me roll around in dirt as a kid are what has helped me to be a healthier person, it has nothign to do with CS, and doctors fixed my leg pains.
I visited in the last 40 years 10 different christian science churches in germany and the us and I never met people who frightened me going to doctors or taking medicine.
Hence, I would suggest that you become more specific with your feedback and make clear at which branch church you made these bad experiences. christian science in general does not promote these ideas you publish in your clip and your comments. harald
Jim Henson was a Christian Scientist, unfortunately, and he died of pneumonia, because he wouldn't accept medical intervention. What a loss to the world.

@wink359 Henson was raised in modern Christian Science, but he went his own way as a young adult. According to the Wiki page, he saw a doctor who missed the diagnosis. His condition continued to worsen, but he had no desire to go to the hospital (as many people of other beliefs avoid it like the plague!) When he finally went, the doctors failed to help him and their aggressive treatments may have even provoked his death (as many hospital procedures are known to do!) Btw-Scientology is not CS.
All of you are right at your own level of understanding. Our perception and demonstration of Truth is according to our level of understanding of Truth. We cannot expect a baby to workout a calculus problem. We should be humble and strive for higher level ,each day ,in the understanding of God and the Truth.

Other CS kids were expected to work out their demonstration recently, including Ebon Tryon. I have no problem with adults choosing to put themselves thru CS when they are sick, but kids? Why is it when a CS kid gets sick, he is expected to prove where he is 'spiritually'? Why should an ache or pain mean a trial of faith for a CS kid?

doctors only "kill people" when they can't fix an illness that is too severe. CS "kill people'' because it keeps them from getting medical attention, perhaps even letting it get that severe in the first place. On top of that, you aren't thinking of the thousands upon thousands of people doctors heal daily. Something as little as a urinary tract infection could kill someone if left untreated but doctors give them antibiotics and they go back to living life like normal.
Just for the record, I love this video! It has brought more healing to the hearts & minds of former CSists than the actors will ever know! To all the christian science believers if you truly believe that positivity and faith in your god can heal you from any sickness or disease I invite you to put your beliefs to the test, you dont have to if you dont want to, but I would like to see a christian scientist contract AIDS or get cancer and through the use of prayer and a positive mind set ONLY fully recover from a life threatening disease. That means no doctor, no medicine, no special treatments, just prayer and a positive mind.

Thank you for addressing this topic. The heavy-duty, hard-sell of Christian science that the Christian Science Church is orchestrating here on Youtube is most disturbing. They are a smallish, well-connected but dying cult. I call it a cult because it is dangerous in its 'avoid doctors, but pay me to pray for you to see your own perfection' money scheme invented by its bipolar recluse, Mary Baker Eddy. She recruited folks to do this prayer scheme so she could get 10% of her minion's profits.
Christian Science IS Mary Baker Eddy. CS cannot be discussed without quoting or speaking of Mrs. Eddy. She had a big ego & loved being the center of attention when she wanted it. That is why CS stopped being a 'cause' the day she died. It was never a unified thing at their World Headquarters after she died. Sorry, but Mrs. Eddy was always about herself alone. If thousands die in hospitals each yr in a country of 300 million then the ratio of medicine helping people is VERY impressive. In the US, we do not chain schizophrenics to walls in attics anymore: we have medications for the disease so that they can live a higher quality of life than ever before in history. CS did not provide this, medicine made this possible. The CS church is worth well over $350 million, yet it is running away as fast as it can from it's few 'healing' nursing facilities.

Here is my suggestion for Christian Science. The church is dead or nearly dead. It has bad theology, bad science, and a creepy cult leader legacy. The church should go "New Age-Secular" and really attempt to show through medical scientific study, that CS treatment either does or does not heal. The world has become too intelligent for false prophets making false claims. Verify your healing claims with proven evidence just like the medical community. Else, there is no hope for your future.

people have suffered because of many things. Religion isn't the most evil thing in the world, you know. Generally people just like to kill, and they use religion to lean back on. If religion had never of been thought of, I doubt there would be too much of a decrease in violent crimes. This both makes me laugh and makes me quite sad. Laugh because, if you've ever been around CS - they really do say some of these lines. Sad, because clearly one of these guys clearly has been exposed to but not quite absorb MBE's teachings the way they are supposed to be understood. But what the hell, it is a mockumentary, and the part with the human in the cage was great.
I should also mention that in no way, shape, or form has any Christian Scientist that I have met put pressure on a sick person not to see a physician if they so choose. In fact, in a few cases when a problem hasn't yielded to prayer quickly there has been great support for taking the medical route whilst continuing to pray. There is great respect for doctors and physicians amongst the Christian Scientists I know, and I have met a number of physicians who share that respect right back.
I was introduced to Christian Science a few years ago and had a wonderful healing. The thumb on my writing hand was injured in a childhood ski accident and a large calcium deposit on the knuckle had for several years been preventing me from bending it very far. It was difficult to write. I joined a non-denominational prayer group at my university and was introduced to Science & Health by a lovely couple. Several weeks later it was completely healed. Those who seek with an honest heart will find.
Too bad you don't know anything about Christian Science. We are very grateful for Doctors, they do great work. Christian Scientist don't ignore a problem. They face the problem and spiritualy do as Jesus did. He did not rush a person to the nearest Doctor, he saw them as complete, whole reflections of God. Many Christian Scientists will go to a Dr if the spiritual approach does not seem to work as well as hoped. Many Drs tell patents about CS when Drs and Meds fail to help them.
I stumbled upon this video by mistake. I have recently made friends with several Christian Scientists. I believe they live by their faith. Christian Scientists are calm people that have seen healing in their own lives. Go to a local Christian Science reading room and they will be happy to talk with you and answer your questions. They also usually have literature they are willing to give to you free of cost if you would like to investigate more.
The funny thing is they aren't really exaggerating when they say that "there is no illness, there is only misunderstanding." I guess if you believe that kind of stuff, you probably aren't a big fan of biology, medicine, or basic mental logic.
@thatonekid393 .....When it is said there is NO...sin, sickness, disease or death...it is SPIRITUALLY speaking for the standpoint of being created in the image and likeness of God as the BIBLE, Genesis 1 writes....IF sin, sickness, disease and death were truly real then why did Jesus heal it?
There are many subjects that would be more entertaining to parody than this, especially since you obviously don't know what you are talking about, unless you asked a friend of a friend that didn't know much about it.

i've personally been in CS all my life and read the scripture and though this is poking fun at it it is actually pretty accurate. They believe that diseases come from an error in "mortal mind" or not knowing you are really god's child, which is pretty freaking ridiculous when you think about it. I've sat around a table with Christian "scientists" poking fun at cancer and saying that it's all in the person's head. Utter nonsense.

Why not read Science and Health yourself then make the big decision of weither you like CS or not. I practice Christian Science and absolulely love it. I go to doctors. I take medicine. People are afraid of they do not understand. If I was not a Christian Scientist, I would love to know what the religion is about. It definately is for thinkers and not sheep. It is based on love, no fear, and free thinking. They do not diss other beliefs, which I love. I think more Spiritually about life.

This video addresses a huge misunderstanding about christian science. There is no directive in christian science which says "don't go to a doctor" or "never take medical medicine". A lot of people trust in the healing method of christian science because of the great experiences they made or friends of them had. So a lot of christian scientists don't go to a doctor because they don't need to go to a doctor. Christian Science helped me in a lot of cases.

that's not true at all, at least for my church. They definitely implied that doctors and medicine were wrong when, idk, they said that medicine is a lie and told horror stories about people leaving cs only to go to the doctors and die in surgery. My optimism towards my health and the fact i have a good immunity because my parents let me roll around in dirt as a kid are what has helped me to be a healthier person, it has nothign to do with CS, and doctors fixed my leg pains.

@wink359 Henson was raised in modern Christian Science, but he went his own way as a young adult. According to the Wiki page, he saw a doctor who missed the diagnosis. His condition continued to worsen, but he had no desire to go to the hospital (as many people of other beliefs avoid it like the plague!) When he finally went, the doctors failed to help him and their aggressive treatments may have even provoked his death (as many hospital procedures are known to do!) Btw-Scientology is not CS.

If CS is 'scientific,' then each patient should be healed.S&H guarantees it. CS nursing floors are the proving ground as to whether CS heals or not. doctors only "kill people" when they can't fix an illness that is too severe. CS "kill people'' because it keeps them from getting medical attention, perhaps even letting it get that severe in the first place. On top of that, you aren't thinking of the thousands upon thousands of people doctors heal daily. Something as little as a urinary tract infection could kill someone if left untreated but doctors give them antibiotics and they go back to living life like normal.

To all the christian science believers if you truly believe that positivity and faith in your god can heal you from any sickness or disease I invite you to put your beliefs to the test, you dont have to if you dont want to, but I would like to see a christian scientist contract AIDS or get cancer and through the use of prayer and a positive mind set ONLY fully recover from a life threatening disease. Thank you for addressing this topic. The heavy-duty, hard-sell of Christian science that the Christian Science Church is orchestrating here on Youtube is most disturbing. They are a smallish, well-connected but dying cult. I call it a cult because it is dangerous in its 'avoid doctors, but pay me to pray for you to see your own perfection' money scheme invented by its bipolar recluse, Mary Baker Eddy. She recruited folks to do this prayer scheme so she could get 10% of her minion's profits.

Christian Science IS Mary Baker Eddy. CS cannot be discussed without quoting or speaking of Mrs. Eddy. She had a big ego & loved being the center of attention when she wanted it. That is why CS stopped being a 'cause' the day she died. It was never a unified thing at their World Headquarters after she died. Sorry, but Mrs. Eddy was always about herself alone. If thousands die in hospitals each yr in a country of 300 million then the ratio of medicine helping people is VERY impressive. In the US, we do not chain schizophrenics to walls in attics anymore: we have medications for the disease so that they can live a higher quality of life than ever before in history. CS did not provide this, medicine made this possible. The CS church is worth well over $350 million, yet it is running away as fast as it can from it's few 'healing' nursing facilities.

Here is my suggestion for Christian Science. The church is dead or nearly dead. It has bad theology, bad science, and a creepy cult leader legacy. The church should go "New Age-Secular" and really attempt to show through medical scientific study, that CS treatment either does or does not heal. The world has become too intelligent for false prophets making false claims. Verify your healing claims with proven evidence just like the medical community. Else, there is no hope for your future.

people have suffered because of many things. Religion isn't the most evil thing in the world, you know. Generally people just like to kill, and they use religion to lean back on. If religion had never of been thought of, I doubt there would be too much of a decrease in violent crimes. That said, even though people use religion to torture people, religion was still not created for that reason.

For the record their are volumes of published writings of people that knew Mrs. Eddy personally and other unpublished that encountered her. She paid off others debts (public record) gave without condition, and healed many even after they attempted to blacken her good name through law suits etc.. All documented. I sincerely doubt anyone here has a minutia of that kind of integrity.

This both makes me laugh and makes me quite sad. Laugh because, if you've ever been around CS - they really do say some of these lines. Sad, because clearly one of these guys clearly has been exposed to but not quite absorb MBE's teachings the way they are supposed to be understood. But what the hell, it is a mockumentary, and the part with the human in the cage was great.

I should also mention that in no way, shape, or form has any Christian Scientist that I have met put pressure on a sick person not to see a physician if they so choose. In fact, in a few cases when a problem hasn't yielded to prayer quickly there has been great support for taking the medical route whilst continuing to pray. There is great respect for doctors and physicians amongst the Christian Scientists I know, and I have met a number of physicians who share that respect right back.

I was introduced to Christian Science a few years ago and had a wonderful healing. The thumb on my writing hand was injured in a childhood ski accident and a large calcium deposit on the knuckle had for several years been preventing me from bending it very far. It was difficult to write. I joined a non-denominational prayer group at my university and was introduced to Science & Health by a lovely couple. Several weeks later it was completely healed. Those who seek with an honest heart will find.

Too bad you don't know anything about Christian Science. We are very grateful for Doctors, they do great work. Christian Scientist don't ignore a problem. They face the problem and spiritualy do as Jesus did. He did not rush a person to the nearest Doctor, he saw them as complete, whole reflections of God. Many Christian Scientists will go to a Dr if the spiritual approach does not seem to work as well as hoped. Many Drs tell patents about CS when Drs and Meds fail to help them.

I stumbled upon this video by mistake. I have recently made friends with several Christian Scientists. I believe they live by their faith. Christian Scientists are calm people that have seen healing in their own lives. Go to a local Christian Science reading room and they will be happy to talk with you and answer your questions. They also usually have literature they are willing to give to you free of cost if you would like to investigate more.

If Jesus didnt heal the sick, or rise from the dead, does Christianity as a whole have long-term credibility? Im not a church-goer myself but I know there are many instances of convincing and verified CS healings. To me even one such healing says something important about the nature of reality. If you're worried about Christian Science being "scientific" read some philosophers of science like Thomas Kuhn or Paul Feyerabend and you'll be far less sure about what you think you know

She did NOT free him, as she NEVER owned a slave, let alone was rescued from 1, nor freed 1. Read the history of Christian Science. By your account, all religions should do the same. The christian science monitor doesn't shy away from stories on war, or poverty or strife. Why imagine we don't see these things? There's a difference between saying something in the absolute and the relative. Although I do have to say its kind of funny for someone to mispell 'mistaught'. Anyone can be deluded. Just because we don't agree with mainstream doesn't mean we're wrong. Historically, common beliefs have been very far off base.

HYSTERICAL. This video is humorous "reality." I was raised in the Christian Science cult. One day, I actually read the Bible, in context (CS's don't read the Bible in context as it contradicts their views). I discovered that Mary "Crazy Eddie" Baker was preaching a Jesus other than the Biblical Jesus. Mary Baker was disturbed woman; a false prophet, a servant of Satan; not Christian, and not a scientist. Jesus is my Lord & Savior. I am grateful for Him and for delivering me from CS.
