Yes HP does lock the processor clock speeds from the bios and even if you did buy a new processor i belive you would still have the same problem because you are still using the same mother board which is what has the program to lock you out, the only way you can over clock a hp is to download a out side program like speed fan.
Speed fan is not the only program out their for over clocking but it is one of a very few which you can get for free online and it really works. the ones that you have to pay for do work better but expect to spend around $30 for it. Oh yeah one more thing hp's really do not like heat so make sure you have a good cooling system. good luck with your project and keep on overclocking!
i have an hp with a pentium 4 haha. and i actually used clock gen. I just windged it and i actually was able to over clock it more then 60mhz. I know that is not a lot but its progress lawlz. Help if you can
hey dude, i got HP (a6430f) computer, do you think it is ok to overclock from the program but not from the bios? i know hp locks overclocking in bios, but anyway, i want to overclock my hp, so if you could help me, would be nice =]
yeah you should be fine. your computer has a fail safe like on mine where if you go passed that line it will shut down and reboot with the original settings, the bad part about that is you have to go back to speed fan and set it to the speed right before it shut down. so make sure you are keeping up with your clocking speeds! Oh yeah and if you can keep up with your temp because hp's like to over heat good luck and keep overclocking!
did you say speed vamp or what?
