  • We should appreciate each other but not lie about history either!

    more ancient proof.

"Pyrrhus, the king of Epirus, had a particularly high opinion of his powers because he was deemed by foreign nations a match for the Romans; and he believed that it would be opportune to assist the fugitives who had taken refuge with him, especially as they were Greeks...

    Cassius Dio, Book 9.4

  • Who are the Greeks that Cassius Dio is speaking about?

    Today's self-claimed Greeks?

What's your difference from the Macedonians of today?

  • balkanic music is all very similiar, same race of people, same lifestyle, plenty of cultural contact etc, so just enjoy the music.

  • E ore Peço mos vdeksh kurre!

  • Chicagogeorge... I deleted your coment by mistake. You said Epirus is the origin of Greeks. Illyrians immigrated south... That makes Greeks Illyrians.

Either way. We will never know enough of what happened and why. So I think we should appreciate each other for who we are today.

Today even Greeks are a mix. Albanians, Bulgarians, Anatolians, etc.

    Peace.

  • TUNDE PECO TUNDU

  • MusicOfEpirus, kengetari e ka emrin Petrit Lulo; bilbili gjuhes shqipe.

    E ke ven gabim.

  • haha... faleminderit.

  • Nice song but Epiros is not Albanian.

    Aristotle says so!

"The deluge in the time of Deucalion, for instance, took place chiefly in the Greek world and in it especially about ANCIENT HELLAS, the country about DODONA and the Achelous, a river which has often changed its course. Here the Selli dwelt and those who were formerly called Graeci and now Hellenes."

  • ChicaGeorge... The world doesn't know who the Ancient Greeks were.

The world knows Modern Greeks that are made of Arbanites/Albanians, Anatolians, and Slavs. Out of all three, which ones are autochtones?

    Orthodox Albanians (Arvanites).

Remeber that Yllirians (Yillin or Yillir in native language) sounds awsomely close to Hellens (Yellin or Hellin-es in native languge).

Lets accept each other for who we are and not fall pray to backward Byzantine Orthodox games. It is better for our future.

  • Btw... in both languages Ylliric and Hellenic means: People of the Sun.

    Heli(os)

    Ylli

Ylli in Albanian can be writen as Illi, Jilli, Jëlli... while the Chams call themselves "Jellins". It's these links that most of us that fllow mainstream ideologies, don't know.

It's all a matter of what dialect in Albanian you choose and what letters you choose to encode the sounds you make.

    Cheers!

  • What?

  • Grazie e auguri a te llovina.

  • This guy is the best albanian singer. This is the real albanian music. Thanx to whoever posted this.

  • ogni sera dopo 11ore di lavoro quando torno acasa se non sento ti dhika mas musiki nuk fle gjume

  • mah... ancora non capisco la parte greca.

che e' sta "ti dhika mas musiki"?

  • You motherfuckers! You fucking Gaygreeks, don`t fuck with Gjirokasta, that has always been albanian! Don`t fuck with Gjirokasta or you`ll Die!!! Mos ma prekni gjirokasten se ju qiva robt!! Ju griva mishin!!

  • Argiro Castra is not the correct name! As was said it was Pyrrocastra and Gjinocastra. The Legeng of princess Argiro is only a legend. It says that after the death of the princess of this castle the name was given to her castle. The question is hence, how was called the town before the princess died. So the castle had a name before the princess died!

  • na zisi ipyros to argirokastro me tidikia tou original muzike

  • english/albanian?

  • This is my city of orging...gjirokasta... :)!Viva ALbania...!Together for a better albania

  • cameria=SHQIPERIA

  • Northern Epirus = Term invented by the GAYREEKS on 1914, as they occupied Chameria, one of the prettiest spots of our Country, and didn´t achieve the Occupation of south Albania too!

  • Hehe Fenek, you can call Janina anything you want but the town you referred to is Gjirokaster.

  • Very nice photos from Argirokastro

    (=the castle of princess Argiro),

    Northern Epirus.

  • ... and Southern Epirus should join soon ;)

P.S. the area is called Mali i Gjere (the wide mountain)

  • - Castle of Arigirokastro is speculative myth to even Greek historians and wishful thinking to uneducated Greeks.

    - 300BC -- Pirrocastra, the Castle of Pirro (Mollos Illyrian)

    - 1300AD -- Gjinokastra, the Castle of Gjino (Gjino Zebishti, its Albanian ruler)

    - Mid-1900s -- Gjirokastra, Albanian grammar rotational inclination swaps 'n' for 'r' (Equally Vlona = Vlora)

  • Have you got any idea what language did Pirro speak? Some reference....

    Homer, Iliad 16:127 (Achilles prayer)

    XI.

"War was at the same time proclaimed against the Tarentines (who are still a people at the extremity of Italy), because they had offered violence to some Roman ambassadors. These people asked aid against the Romans of Pyrrhus, king of Epirus, who derived his origin from the family of Achilles...

  • ... seems like your references don't know it either.

  • Any clue about Achilles and his ancestors...?Ok, Some more..

    Pausanias, II (Corinth).

...but we know of no Greek before Pyrros who fought against Rome...

  • Ancient Greek =/= Greek Citizen today (just like Macedonians today)

Albanians were misslabeled a Greeks many times through history, just like Cretans were called Illyrians.

Today there is a village called Greci in Italy, settled by people that speak Albanian. Italians still call them Greeks, but they say they are Albanian.

  • I don't dissagree with that! Just don't say that Pyrrhos was Albanian.Don't forget that the same reasoning applies to Albanians too (modern Alabians=/=Illyrians). The fact is that all Balcan countries' population is actually of a mixed Greek-Illyrian-Slav-Turkish origins, in different proportions....What actually matters is the spoken language of this era.If someone's mother tongue is greek (respectively albanian) you call him greek (or albanian). That's who Pausanias refers to as Greeks.

  • I think the pausians were wrong and biased... just like you and me and everybody else out there trying to prove something. No one knows what he was.

... altho given the loooong history of Hellenizing northern tribes, I'd say Pirro was a Hellenized soul.

however, there's also a plausible theory that Ellin and Illin(r) mean the same people in different dialects of sam language. Notice Ancient Greek is so much closer to Albanian.

  • one last thing... Modern Albanians are a PART of old Illyrians (other parts are Croatians, Montenegrins, and Bosnians - mixed with Slavs - Macedonians - mixed with Bulgars, Serbs and few Greeks, and many "Greeks" now known as Arvanites (Eng: Albanians, Alb: Arbanës/Arbëresh).

This makes Albanians pure descendants of Illyrians, given that we don't marry for religion but BLOOD.

  • ik ti ore njeri i felliqur.tradhetare i bushtres.

  • VERY GOOD :p

  • chia dari

  • English please...

  • Rroft Cameria
