I remember cheering myself hoarse in 1990 when she defeated Clayton "If a woman is raped, they should just lay back and enjoy it" Williams in the Texas governor's race. A great lady who overcame a lot of adversity in her life. Even her adversaries respected her (well, except maybe Clayton Williams). RIP Ann Richards.

@jkingsmill Well let me tell you something. My family can be traced back to the Republic of Texas. They were immigrants from Prussia. The settled down in Shiner TX. I guess you can say I'm a true Texan. And I'd say Ann Richard's politics were "real" Texan. Don't count the other 45 percent of out.

It's so funny how some things never change! We are still fighting terrorism while selling them the very weapons they use against us and while we have terrorist here in our own country. We still are seeing a major decline in employment rates. We still are seeing schools close because they don't have the funding they should. We are still seeing increases in health care, insurance, and everyday items which is requiring us to work 2 jobs just to make ends meat. The are more drugs now then ever!
