This song is based on Bilaskhani Todi Raga. This was invented by Bilaskhan when he visited his father home to express his sad feelings after Tansen's death. Vilas Khan had fallen in love with this brothel girl who was beautiful and wonderful singer. Tansen kicked them out. But fell ill because of separation and eventually died. Vilaskhan visite his father's dead body and created this Raga. It is a raga with sad overtones. Thus it got its name as Bilaskhani Todi. Miyyaa Ki Todi's variation.

I am from Cameroon and this is the indian music I've grown up with so classical so soulful and my dad who is a die-hard fan of indian classical music hates the bollywood new stuff because he says the spirit is more or less americanized except from some songs that really touch our heart.

Training from an early age cannot make a good singer. It is a God’s gift not endowed so commonly. Good music is which touches your heart and soul in whatever form that may be. Daler didn’t become popular through his classical proficiency but by singing cheap lyrics accompanied with monkey dancing.

@vboparoy I think by criticizing the mentors, we are blocking the progress of Sniti. If you heard Tunak Tunak Tun, then you must have heard Rangde Basanti and the range with which Dalerji sang the song. So I think she is in the best Gharana and has to learn a lot from Daler Mehndi. She is lucky.

@1inmil09 I can authoratitively say that it is incorrect. Not so long ago there use to be a classical section in saregama (when Sonu Nigam use to host). Judges consisted of Ustad Vilayat Khan, Girija Devi, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and others. Singers use to sing chota khayals, thumri, gazals routinely.
