Harley race did the voice. rember the Shock Master he did that voice to. Olie had invested money and time all ready into it. He was scared to back out. Flair got promised a title shot if he did the Black Scorpion that night at the PPV. Flair acted like he was behind it all.

Acoriding to "the death of wcw" a book I read: The WCW bosses had no idea who the black scorpion were supposed to be so they hired Rick Flair to be unmasked in the last minute.

As for Papa Shango, I liked him too. Cartoon villainy can be cool......too bad WWE doesn't go with that instead of the no-charisma villainy of Randy Orton.

It was supposed to be the guy, who was the ANGEL OF DEATH in WORLD CLASS, who was the person described in the vignettes and was from sting's past. But at the last minute they could not come together on the contract so they threw Flair back in.
There were SEVERAL other wrestlers who played the part of the real "Black Scorpion" as well as fake versions. Al Perez, Dave Sheldon, Jeff Ellis, Ole Anderson. Ric Flair was only a last second choice.
In fact, it was originally meant to be a ploy to help bring Anderson out of retirement but he broke his arm.
You know, I always felt like they had pulled the whole Flair thing out of their asses at the end of this, that explains why! Too bad they couldn't net anyone else to do it so the feud could've been done right.
