  • Back in 05 or 04 I rode with an Engineer named Gary Cassel un Shay 6 and it had this whistle which I have been told was a WM freight whistle. Gary let me blow it at the crossings and my outlook on where I want to live and work changed. All I can say is Cass here I come!

  • I heard that this is the biggest shay ever built. The whistle dosn't sound like one you would expect to hear on a shay.

  • nope there were bigger ones than no 6.

  • Still, the whistle isn't one you would expect to hear on a shay.

  • you are told correct.

  • that whistle mostly fits a large shay

  • Mower Lumber Co. shay 12 is thr largest shay.

  • what whistle did she have on?

  • Thats BS

  • # 12 built in 1921and rebuilt in 1933 i think for 205 tons

  • Actually There Are Pictures Of It. Ive Seen It Be4

  • Yes, Shay 12 was rebuilt by the Cass shops as a 205 ton 4 truck shay, it was scrapped in the 50's.

  • Western Maryland (Big Six) was the largest Shay to ever be built by the Lima Locomotive Works. Other shay's later on had modifications to make them larger, such as GC&E #12 in Cass, WV which had a 4th truck added so the water tank could be enlarged.

  • I did not know that.

  • nice i was shown this at scool today lol

  • that sounds like union pacific 844

  • I rode in No. 6 2 times before.

    Nice Whistle too!
