  • Does anyone have a copy of "I Couldn't Sleep A Wink Last Night" by Ray Wooden & the Mello Moods? If so, please, please post it.

  • What group did Wooten go on to sing with? He was FANTASTIC--long before Scoolboys, Teenagers etc. This is the way R&B ballads sounded in the early 1950s-- the background group was relatively "quiet" compared to later years.

  • @doctordoowop This, as far as I know was the only group that Ray "Buddy" Wooden ever sang with. He was great and we lost him far too early. R.I.P. Buddy.

  • There is something wrong - i think this is Lillian Leech and the Mellos (who were the mello-tones) but there's no lady in the picture.

  • @oldcoachcrane I don't think there's anything wrong. This is a pre-pubertal Ray Wooten singing. Perhaps that's why you think it sounds like a woman vocalist. The Mello-Moods are posing on the picture.

  • sing it boys!

  • Where were these guys from? I've heard either Baltimore or the West Coast.

  • @billchew450 They were from Harlem. I like the uptemp side, I Tried, Tried and Tried on Prestige.

  • how do describe this beauty? how do you convay this "feeling"?it's all about sophistication and appreciation.thank you for reviving from the lost tune vault so the masses can once again "know" the meaning of the real rhythm and blues!
