FUNNY! I had the same exact thing happen to me. I was in my 32 FT work truck in a traffic jam as usuall in Detroit between 4:30 and 6:30 rush hr. All the sudden I seen this blur comming past my on the right hand shoulder..I institivly honk. Low and behold it was the State Police. He slammed his brakes pulled me over and told me he was responding to an accident, I told him about his "advanced driving skills" he said he has and said he should be using his emergency signals. He left after that.

I got a charge of disorderly conduct for telling my sister to stop using the police to come to my moms home on false 911 phone calls, and because of that, a cop there told me if I was getting stabbed to death on the court house steps, nothing would be done about it, because I'm a "Criminal"

she tried to not throw it out, i just knew the law and that i only had to prove that it was reasonably necessary to use my horn, she said that in order to find me guilty that the officer only has to be slightly more convincing than me and that the standard was much lower than beyond a reasonable doubt

Nope, the office never expected that at all. If the cop had been following the proper procedure to begin with then none of this would have happened in the first place. What else was he supposed to do. A cop comes flying up and they was no where for him to go but over and blowing his horn was a natural thing to go to warn others. Most would have just paid the fine (me NOT being one of them) and this guy stood his ground and won. Good for him.
