  • how do the two strands not unravel?!

  • YOOO,if u know what good dreads look like...den give me feedback on mines..

    --JAJAPERFECT

  • I'm glad i found out that locs can be started with two strand twists because i am about to loc up my bro in law roots but he have had the twists in his head now for 2months. Hope they come out right!

  • Check out Pretty Boy TJ Journey to Locs from scratch!!!! Come and Support :) Just go to my channel to view!!

  • Yes, I'd like to know what you do, too, to keep them from unraveling?

  • what do u do to make them not unravel

  • do you use any loc growth products?

  • music is great!

  • I had dreads for 8 years but I started out with the 2 strand twist but i pulled them out last year now im ready to start over but i want to start with the braids If I decide after a few years to take them out can i pull them out with out cutting my hair.

  • i see you started off with the two strands, how long did they take to lock

  • @pookieslim My twists took about 7mos to lock

  • Your locks look great- both versions! Why did you start over?

  • @ibyl I started over because I missed my locs.

  • I Think The Twists Comes Out Better. Thats How I Started Mines Out. It Grows Fast Too

  • so why did you do them over with twists? did something go wrong with the braidlocs? I am considering starting braid locs and have been doing some research about it since i heard it can be done that way.

  • The braidlocs worked perfectly. With the 2nd time around, I just wanted to try a different method.

  • I like those. I hope mines turn out like them. Check my video with my Locs tell me what you think.

  • On my way over!

  • why did you chop them when they were really long?

  • I was having alopecia problems and so I chopped.

  • i like this i just start mine over with twist to..

  • YESSSSS! i'm so glad you did the twist locks.. in my opinion they are so much cuter to meh!.. love 'em!

  • what were your thoughts about the braidlocks compared to the twists? which do you think is better for you?

  • In the end the locs will look the same once it mature. The way you start your locs is a matter of preference. Most people choose a method over another based on hair type, length, etc. In my opinion, the braids held better than twists. But, my hair loc'd quicker with the twists.

  • with the braidlocs do u just twist the roots when they grow?

  • @lashayclay1, yes you can twist the roots, latch, or freeform. Whatever you choose. :)

  • Well, I was going to ask why you cut the first set but not anymore....lol. I'll go look for the FAQ video

  • how long did it take for your two strand twist 2 look like dreads

  • About 8 months

  • cut mi hair b fore to now im n the game again but how u get yo hair to get thick like dat

  • Combo of hair texture and parting.

  • HOw do you know if you will have thick or thin locs? i jsut reached the 3 month lock period an they are thin an i want them thick i think i would lock better so what could i do?

  • With both set of locs, my hair thickened about twice as much from when I first started. Usually, you can tell the final thickness by your base.

  • i i have a question those are plats rite and if they are i gets lot of new gro fast so what do i do with my new gro and how long will it take for my plats to turn into dreads

  • Yes, those were plats. I latched my new growth...or you could twist the new growth. It took a little over a year for my hair to loc and the braid pattern to disappear. On the other hand, I had a friend who started w/ braids and his hair loc'd in 3 mos. Each head is different.

  • as your hair matures it will thicken. also try to twist minimum of 2 weeks. my locs broke twistin once a week. at 5 months my hair was very thin. now my locs are much thicker. i twist every 2 weeks im at 9 months

  • Nice locs (first and second set). Don't you get tired of the question "Why did you cut them?" lol. Everyone asks me the same thing. I'm on my second set as well. Peace

  • I get that question often. I'm going to make a video with frequently asked questions. This will be the first question to answer. :)

  • what products do you use

  • Why did you chop off your locks the first time?

  • With the braids, my hair was about 8 inches long. With the twist, my hair was about 3 inches long. This is a wild guess...

  • I've used the braid and twist method to loc my hair. In my opinion, the twist loc'd quicker. I also notice that when I box braid my daughters hair and twist her hair, the twists start to mat up and loc quicker. This is just my opinion...

  • is there a difference with how you start locing your hair? either braids or twists? do they look any different in the outcome?

  • In my opinion, however you start your locs the outcome will be the same. The method you choose to loc your hair is a personal preference. Most people use a method over another depending on their hair texture and length.

  • That's cool that you haid big natural hair, then braidlocs, then big chop, then twist locs again!! That's cool!

  • Gorgeous locs! I just went to a professional 2 days ago to start my loc journey. This time I started with two-strand twist. Do you have any advice for me? Is is okay to perm rod roll my two strand starter locs for a wedding coming up in about 1 month?

  • You have locks stop cutting them lol! They are beautiful!!!! :-)

  • Nice locs but why didnt u show the growth process between that first year b4 u cut them?

  • i almost cried wen i saw them gone for that split second

  • I thought I didn't want locs again. After I cut, I missed my locs. So, I restarted.

  • i kno the feelin lol i did that shit too

  • yo check out the beginnin of my loc journey!!

  • i just started mine 2 weeks ago i have long hair and had 2 strand twist done so how long will that take b4 it locs up?

  • It all depends on your hair texture. My locs took about 1 yr to look. I had a friend who hair loc'd in about 4 months. I would say the average time is about 7mos. Again, it all depends on your hair texture.

  • Oh,I see.You started your locs when your hair was long.Mines is short so it'll take much longer to get to that length especially being as though my hair grows less than 3 inches a year, literally.I don't know whats wrong with it.

  • This one dude I know hair only grows to like 1-2 inches period. And he's 21 with no facial hair. Dude's kind of strange. I told him to get locs so he can get a style with some length and take a razor to his face so maybe he can get something to grow there but he insists.

  • Well mines grow extremely slow and that discourages you...enough to make you want to just cut them and quit.

Its not fun when you have to change products and do this and that just to gain 1 inch:(

  • what did u use then switch to

  • Mmmm... that so makes me want to have locks:-)

  • Your hair is beautiful. What made you chop off the braidlocs?

  • There were a couple of reasons...alopecia problems and personal reasons. Basically, I thought I didn't want locs. But, locing is for me. :)

  • Thank you. :)

  • How many locks do you have?

  • I have around 150 locs.

  • It took a little over 1 yr for the hair to completely loc.

  • Did you elect to use braidlocs from a perm?

  • My hair was 100% natural. My hair texture didn't hold twist well. It's like fine, soft cotton. This is why I decided to loc using braids.

  • u were able to lock from braids??

  • Yep!

  • I love your hair! I can't tell dreds how much I love their hair. My question to you is which set of locs do you like best? the 1st one with the braidlocs or this 2nd set with the twists?

  • looks nice.

  • Thanks!

    Both journeys were so different.

With the braids, my hair to take longer to lock. With twists, I got a lot of bunching with my locs.

I guess it all depends on your preference and what you're looking for. In the end, the results look the same...locs. :)

  • I think my locs were about medium sized. Basically, locs will swell to about the thickness of the base. So, I made my partings the size of what I wanted my locs to be.

  • how did you make your locs skinny?

  • Hi there! Shout out to nappturality.

  • Hey my sista from nappturality!!! :o)

    Your hair is beautiful!

    Heather06

  • I wash with a clear shampoo, Giovanni Triple Tea Shampoo and there's another shampoo I use, but can't think of the name right now. Urgh! I dilute my shampoo with a little bit of water.

For conditioner, I mix Infusium 23 (leave in) with a little bit of water.

After I wish, I will use a little olive oil. I will maybe use olive oil in between washes, when my locs are looking dull. I also have an oil by Warm Spirit. I LOVE the smell. It has a baby powder scent.

  • Beautiful!!!! What products do you use?

  • I cut my locs because I was having issues. :)

I have alopecia. I was loosing locs because of this. Then, I started missing my loose hair. So, I chopped. I missed my locs. So....I started another set.

  • Both sets of Locs are Lovely!!!!

  • nice hair and locs. why'd u cut them the first time tho?

  • Thank you! I'm hoping the 2nd set will be just as beautiful.

  • your old set of locs were beautiful!!!
