  • the film "Brazil" rules its a really special film

    the music is good too

  • I agree. U just have to close your eyes and you feel to be in a cooking latin dance club on some tropic iland, great.

  • China Forbes, WHAT A BABE!!!!!!

This is one phenomenal group of musicians. They are all too young to have experienced the color and flavor and soul of the dance clubs of pre-Castro Cuba, so how are they able to paint such a beautiful canvas? Totally awesome.

  • I'm too young to have experienced pre-Castro Cuba, but I appreciate it vicariously every time I listen to Benny More and Miguelito Valdes. Elisa

  • great !!

  • Takes me right to Terry Gilliam's film "Brazil". Classic coolness.

  • @straycoolcat that's my favorite movie of all time. I watched it even more times than I watched Pulp Fiction, and I saw that twice a day, for the first month.

  • @erscott13 geez, twice a day? you spent 5 hours of your day for a month watching pulp fiction!? .... thats awesome

    beautiful song, thanks for sharing

  • @straycoolcat Me too. My favorite movie of all time.

  • Well, I sincerely prefer the original version in Portuguese. This version in English has a message very different from the original one. However, thank you for this video, it is beautiful too.

  • Viva o Brasil, porque a gente não desisite nunca.xD

  • great movie

  • It was written by Ary Barroso, amazing song, i just love it! Brazil <3

  • great song

  • amazing song and movie which was used too. Brazil!

  • the movie was soooo trippy, not going to lie

  • Just bought this CD a couple weeks ago, this is one of my favorite tracks.

  • Fabulous, just discovered Pink Martini and I can't get enough. Love this song, always have and this is a wonderful

    version.

    Mary

  • in love with pink martini... i can't stop fallin in love every time i listen this song :)

  • Can someone post Aspettami? I love that song. Can't find it anywhere.

  • excellent rendition / rewriting of a powerful song.

  • what a song. it blows you away.

  • I love Pink Martini's version of this gret song!

  • A few years ago PBS televised a concert of Pink Martini with Brazil as the closing number. It was FANTASTIC! My local PBS(WTTW) offered a DVD of the show with a subscription and I'm still kicking myself for not getting it. I can't find the DVD anywhere. Any suggestions anyone?

  • Have you called PBS. Most likely they will still have copies of the DVD.

  • I was at that concert. New Years Eve 2005. It was unforgettable! There were a bunch of samba dancers up and down the aisles and on stage. The guys in the audience were like "oh, yehh!" the girls were like "put some clothes on!" LOL.

  • As a Brazilian I can say that this song is like an anthem for us, the interpretation is great. It is a pity that the version in English is quite different from the original version in Portuguese, but is no demerit, in order to agree is excellent!

  • can you please tell me who wrote the original in portuguese or at least a part of the text, so that i can find it on the internet? thanks!!!

  • look for "aquarela do brasil" on wiki

  • @gre1990 the original in portuguese was written by Ari Barroso, in 1939.

  • The composer is Ary Barroso, the song was first recorded in 1939.

  • @araticum2

Yes, and in 1942 Walt Disney produced "Brazilian Watercolor" ("Aquarela Brasileira", but in Brazil the picture was called "Aquarela do Brasil") with Donald Duck, Joe Carioca and several Brazilian artists. You can see this cartoon movie in Youtube, it is just wonderful.

  • @marmottarabbiata The original is by Ary Barroso. They play it funny, in in a very un-Brazilian way. This way of playing Brazilian music was very popular in the US during WWII and shortly thereafter. You may like it or not, but you should know it is very far from authetic. BTW, I am very Brazilian.

  • @marmottarabbiata The author is Ary Barroso and the original name is Aquarela do Brasil.

  • just great!!!!, big fan of this song, exelent...

  • That was tremendously articulate, verbod. Idiot.

This is a magnificent song. Thank you, gre1990, for posting it.
