I feel honored to have called Skip Away to post for the Pimlico Special and The Ohio Derby (and a few others). Sonny Hine was a good guy. One of the only trainers in horse racing to approach me (rather than the other way around) with a friendly hello and a short chat when we met at the Ohio Derby. Mrs. Hine was also easy to chat with. Classy people with a classy horse, a rarity in horse racing.

I loved Skip Away, he was a great horse and I cheered him all the time. But this horse doesn't look anything like the Skip Away you see in the videos.... Isn't he supposed to be a lot darker?? Just saying, doesn't look like the right horse.

@Jakeandsonny Yeah, I didn't know that greys can become lighter with age. I was actually watching a video on Monarchos (sorry I think I spelt that wrong) and they were saying that he had become nearly white as he got older and older. Now I know :D

That's very sad news. RIP Skip. Thanks for letting us know and for posting this film of him looking so magnificent. Condolences to all the people knew him and cared for him.
