Mr. Deity,

Ok, I just gotta ask this. Did you actively study comedy? You know, go to school, do research, read books - as opposed to always being funny and just marketing a natural talent. I only ask because if I described the basic premise of this vid to a friend, they would be horrified. Personally, it would not be funny to me in the least. Yet, as I watch this vid, it's hilarious. The frustrating part is I have NO IDEA why it's so funny. Do you have any insight as a professional comedian?

@Ripley747 I've been drawn to comedy my entire life, and probably have thought about it more than most. I think comedy has to have a universal element that people relate to. We have all, at some point, been so self-involved and incapable of empathy at certain moments because we only see how x affects us, that this situation speaks to us -- if somewhat embarrassingly. We also see such self-absorbtion in others -- sometimes often in our friends who have severe character disorders.

Yeah, we all know someone who tends to show a very inappropriate response to a situation, albeit Brian's reactions are a bit exaggerated. It's interesting how comic geniuses (genii?) think (any genius for that matter). This, for example. How did you ever think of turning a "Our mutual friend committed suicide" into a comic bit? I could personally devote my life to comedy and if anything would go out of my way to avoid it. I guess that's why I'm not a comic genius, huh? lol.

This is awesome. I want another Words episode. Deity appears to be stalling. I really don't dig the Larry/Deity interviews.  It might be a certain level of funny that I just don't get, but I prefer the Deity shows, proper, or Words which is even more funny, lately.
