@makavelimondo Negative, both hop and both walk, a minimal amount of searching will show you videos of both. The smaller they are, the less effort hopping requires, so frogs (which on average are smaller than toads) hop more frequently.

@makavelimondo Generally yes, but as skevoid points out, that more a size thing than a species thing. The main difference between Frogs and Toads (with the odd exception) is that toads have wax glands and cover their bodies in wax, this allows them to stay out of water a lot longer than frogs, who do not have wax glands (with a few exceptions). So you could say a Toad is a Frog with a wax jacket. Next they'll be wearing Hunter boots and shooting Pheasant.

Difference is...Frogs jump, Toads crawl, walk or run.

That's the main one, but other than that, no real difference.

Only one species of toad is known to contain any hallucinogenic chemicals, that's the Sonoran Desert Toad (Bufo alvarius), which contains 5-MeO DMT. So it's unlikely that your dog was under the effects of toad venom unless you live in Arizona.

I don't think anyone woud lick a canetoad to get high, what they excreet from their back can kill even us! that and with Byron Bay and Nimbin so close, pots a lot easier to obtain

There's countless records of aussies doing hilarious things to get rid of them since they're a pest to our natural wildlife eg. Playing golf with them as the balls, sticking a tire pump into their bums until they go 'pop!'. Cruel fun, but a fitting end for something that's nearly extinct Queensland.
