I can so hear Diana recording this genre of music. It's sad she backed out of putting more of this material out three years ago, because she still has so much potential. I guess I just really believe in her ability as an artist, and not on Broadway. But she fits in either arena. I'm still a fan!

I actually disagree on this genre. She's much more suited to country/pop music than this R&B/pop. With her Broadway work and her country work (two very diff, but great things), I think she's at home.

If you would like to know what the problem is, it's that she's not putting any emotion into her songs. Throughout the whole time, she's been always happy with what happens. If she suffers a terrible scandal and decides to use that as inspiration for songwriting and not sing it as hip-hop songs, she will have a better chance at success.

She's always been happy with what happens? I highly doubt that. She's been in the industry for a few years now and has suffered disappointment,been labeled a failure by many, etc. She just has handled it maturely. I'm sure there are other personal things she's gone through also (ex. the stalking thing). This particular song is about not giving up, which has very much always been her attitude, despite being knocked down a few times. I agree that she shouldn't do hip hop but this isn't it.

From what I've seen, she may not even care about it or doesn't know what's really happening. Her album flopped, and these efforts are getting nowhere. You know, there is a tie to me in the best music comebacks ever. That goes to both Nick Lachey and the Backstreet Boys. What I liked about those is that they took a pop/rock direction. The difference between that and hip hop is that it better showcases the lyrics. If she was absolutely serious of a comeback, she should do just that.

I'm sure Diana knows full well what's "going on". I don't even know if the two song clips she's released so far are going to make the album and I doubt either is going to be the lead single. I think Diana would sound good singing pop/rock as well but it's clearly not what she wants to sing (she wanted to incorporate R&B on the first CD too). I doubt she cares about record sales and being a big star. This song isn't hip hop at all though so I'm confused as to why you keep mentioning that.

This information was said on her Wikipedia page. There is even a video on this site from Monica's Closeup where she states this info. I hate hip-hop/rap/R&B through and through, so I'm not too pleased that she wants this, and I really am a fan of Diana. She's must be thinking about it now and then, and if so, I feel the same way with the fans that Diana's next album should be a success. I just hope they don't get let down.

She's talking about hip hop, R&B and simply urban music being a big part of the Atlanta music scene and wanting to incorporate that. All I'm saying is that the clips we've heard so far are not hip hop (one is poppy R&B). I doubt the album will be a commercial success like some fans might want. I love her voice so if she has songs that showcase that, that's fine for me. We'll see how it all pans out otherwise. I know she said in some interview that she didn't want to be a huge star.

Unfortunately, it won't be released this year. These labels can't afford to grant her wishes and fulfill her promises. I also have bad news for Diana fans. When this album is released, her career is done, because it won't sell and no one will be interested in it.

It might not be released this year, but her career will never be "done" unless she chooses to pursue something else. At this point, her fans don't care about her CD selling as much as just hearing what she's reocrded. She's been fruitful on Broadway as well, so she's not going to step out of the entertainment industry anytime soon.

Her career's not going to be "done" as in "she will quit the biz after it's released". The whole hip-hop music vibe is not where she belongs. I know that the fans are aiming to make the next album a success, but in order for that to happen, she may need to rethink her decisions.

There's no release date as of yet. Originally she was shooting for summer 2007 and then she was saying early fall 2007. It might be released in the fall, but early 2008 might also be a good bet.

I love Diana Degarmo. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that, since she has been on Broadway and out of the publics eyes for a while, her popularity will have plummetted =/. We know she can sing, hopefully the albums proves that. From the recording (even though its not phenomanal) it seems she is doing just that. =)

Yeah, the new album is Pop/R&B. She's working with all Atlanta producers and songwriters (she's from Atlanta too), so it has a bit of a an urban feel to it.

anonymousidiot90, I get what you're saying and agree. Hopefully her team can at least line up some promo for her. While the album might not be a commercial success, I would love for it to be enjoyed by her fans, especially since she's so involved in this project.
