  • :-) you look like you like what you're doin ...

  • thumbs up if you think hendrix never really uses his fuzz as muddy as this guy plays(like voodoo child) it. jimi's fuzz is more rich, sustaining, it's great. i know you oubviously cant get a vintage tone out of a pedal not made this decade. just lay off the fuzz. thumbs up if u agree .

  • actually, roger mayer actually built this thing for jimi hendrix. the circuit is a modified dallas arbiter fuzz face, which jimi used too of course

  • I have one. Whenever played loud it has an aweful Ice Picking sound. Thought it was mine until I heard this band playing live and immediately recognized the axis fuzz. I'd stay away frm this one.

  • @razorette1 Try playing it on the neck pickup. A good EQ and using the neck pickup should get rid of that ice pick edge . . .

  • @astro2069 Exactly what I mean. I have to work my way around this pedal. Turn the fuzz on and roll off the Treble of the amp right? Live you do not have the time.... obviously. Roger Mayer also claims this fuzz was used by Hendrix, or the circuitry at least. MAYBE he used it once or twice, but if you think you're buying the BOG sound think twice. That was a 100% '69 silicon fuzz. I might sound harsh about this pedal. Again just my experience. So if it works for your setup it's all good. :)

  • Love the way you play. You got good feeling! How many years?

  • sounds this pedal good to purple haze?

  • This circuit allows for every shade of distortion,by using the volume control on your guitar. If its to fuzzed out, just just back off on the volume a litle to get beautiful overdrive, all the way down to 'Brad Paisley clean.Blues drivers and tube sceamers can't do both...

  • Love the "Lo-Fi" Fuzz!! Sounds awesome, great job.

  • Salut ;)

Aurais-tu encore ton équa niveau Bj en tête ?

  • Another sick hendrix-y fuzz pedal is the oxfuzz. Check out JVstratocaster's cover of machine gun (imo the best Hendrix cover on the net) to hear it.

  • Salut!

Très beau son de fuzz! Et bien joué!

    J'attends la mienne avec impatience...

    A+

    Musicalement

  • Great demo. This things sounds so much better than my Big Muff Pi.

  • Haha it should for $170 more

  • is this the fuzz in crosstown traffic? thx

  • love how much emotion you put into it

    great demo

  • how much do they cost then. coz wen i looked on ebay ther lik 140

  • is that a Mayer start?

  • Read the description :)

  • Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz. NOT john mayer

  • awesome playing. i've got a roger mayer mongoose fuzz and although its not really a "classic" sounding fuzz, it sounds amazing

  • what pickups are those. i freaking love how they sound. the clean is just beautiful. love the fuzz...

  • what kind of tremolo bar is that? it looks longer that the one i have on my strat.

  • its cause his is a reissue. what kind of strat do you have? i have a 2007 american deluxe and it has a pop in arm and it shorter and not as bad ass looking as this style. if oyu have the screw in style i believe you can buy one of these for yourself.

  • so cool!!! msg me!

    jajajajaja oA

  • Excellent guitar playing. Don't like the fuzz, I like my bluesdriver bette

  • yeah right man, that might be so, because it's totally a different thing... Roger Mayer=fuzz, BluesDriver=overdrive... It's lik saying:

I don't like your T-shirt, I like my shoes better...

  • Either way, I like the bluesdriver's sound better due to it's cleaner sound. But you could probably really lay down Hendrix's version of Star Spangled Banner with this thing and a Tube Screamer...

Too much dirt for me though...

  • there is a BIG difference between FUZZ and OVERDRIVE.

  • No....shoes go on your feet and tshirts go on your back. I don't even understand that comment...

  • ...WTF?

Now you have 3 people telling you:

You have no Idea what you're talking about...

Blues Driver = Emulated tube distortion, a preamp that is overloaded, pretty much only the peaks/treble of the signal is affected

Axis Fuzz = Transistors, Hi gain, nasty sounding, completely alters your guitar's original tone, sounds like an animal The sine wave does all sorts of crazy things depending on your guitar's settings...

Before calling yourself a musician, learn this!

    great vid/tone btw, loved it!

  • Are you talking o me 4949? What did I do?

  • What they are saying is make comments on the gear demo'd. If you said you liked the big muff, fuzz factory or Boss Fuzz better it'd be a justified comparison but a Boss Blues Driver is an OD and not the same animal, compare it to a TS9 or the likes.

  • I like the blues driver better, that is all I said. I prefer the overdrive to the fuzz.

Now can you "geniuses" get that through your thick skulls? People need to get on here and display how they understand the difference between two pedals? Get a life for fuck sakes.

I WAS JUST SAYING I LIKE BLUES THROUGH OD RATHER THAN FUZZ. That is my opinion, leave it!

  • I actually prefer OD's to Fuzz pedals because they're more versatile (see, I didn't let it go did I, I just kept on going with it, it can go on and on). Calm down dude and just get both already!

  • First off all, great sound and great guitar playing :) Second: did you buy this effect or did you make it yourself? I built a fuzz face clone myself but the fuzz ain't nothing like this. I found a scematic of the Roger Mayer Fuzz, I think I'll build it :)

  • I thought the playing was cliched. and the ppedal only sounds okay when it's not so maxed out.

  • there's a demo of the Bold Fuzz at saculelectronics, there' a shape control that makes the pedal sound more dinamic when the fuzz is all way up

  • very good ;)

    nice sound

  • It's got that real speakers tearing apart sound on the low notes.Good fun.

  • Nice, it sounds so weird :)

  • Dude Great Playing, I love that fuzz!

  • Thanks for the awesome demo. The pedal is brilliant and so is your playing!

  • Nice demo and playing.

    Stu

  • I compared the Axis Fuzz with a Fulltone 69. The 69 has more dynamics and less compression. With this said, I like your playing. Keep it on......

  • Good Job !

  • Fuckin beautiful guitar man

    and shiney new strings to!

  • then you musent be playing that good

  • IfanSaer then you musent be playing that good

  • Hey, how did you manage to get that thick wall of fuzz? I bought one, and I can't replicate it. Settings would be nice too, thanks!

    Love the playing too. :)

  • it says to turn the volume of your guitar up

    did you try that?

  • Yeah, I did. It's fuzzy enough, but there's not like a huge wall of fuzz like on the video.

  • Well youtube is a mono site

  • if you had played guitar yourself, or maybe you do, then i can say if you had played with a little emotion you would have made such faces automatically!

  • TRUE DAT!!!

  • Are those useless comments really necessary ;-)))

  • I absolutely love the tone you have in this video, wish I could afford all of that wonderful equipment. An old strat with a blues junior and some roger mayer fuzz, simply phenomenal.

  • hey , your guitar was a fender, whrite?

  • this pedal sound good on riffs and solos, amazing.. but i really disliked the sound during the purple haze chords.. not defined enough.. too wishy washy.. strange.. all the other stuff sounded fantastic. do you have any idea?

  • Maybe because it's not the kind of fuzz used for Purple Haze. ;)

  • is this a silicon pedal? cant remeber, but i do remeber that silicon fuzz pedals have a whole lot more fuzz.

  • Yep, it's not a germanium. Different tone.

Purple Haze was recorded with a germanium fuzz. ;)

  • 's silicon@Kassad62

    In defense of silicon-

Allot of cork sniffers won't touch silcon, they prefer germanium ..I built a germanium FF and altho it's smoother than my silicon the silicon sounds crazy when played *on top of tube distortion*.I set the fuzz low, boost the output and drive the tubes harder. It sags, morphs, ripples, snarls and sings..,the chords are undefined but are morphing and wild sounding,I prefer it to germanium ,which is too polite.

  • @Kassad62 u rascal

  • I'm a big Hendrix fan too. Do I hear a little "Who knows"-riff? ;-)

Hey you play great. This fuzz sounds SOOOO f*ckn' Hendrix-like, 'specially in combination with the strat and the tube amp.

    Peace and love! V,,

  • and 5 stars of course, I almost forgot.

  • thanks mate. ;)

    Voilà a +

  • Merci ;)

  • I tried this RM Axis at a store. Compared it to a Fulltone 70. The 70 is much better and dynamic and does not sound as buzzy when all the way up. The axis is nice but satures too much when pushed at the limit.

  • you could be good. slow down, do some acid, and maybe let your hair grow!

  • what has the way he looks got to do with anything.Hey look I'm a real rock star because stereotypically look like one! You complete douche.

  • haha im with ya

  • great man love it.

  • nice one please watch my mate playing his guitar on my videos

  • hmmm it sounds similar to my boss bd-2... only that this one is way better (his I mean)

  • Amazing tone! It has all the delicate details that a good fuzz should have, and everyone who compares it to high gain destructive pedals like the US Big Muff sincerely doesn't have a clue...

  • im buying one! Definetly

  • very nice sounds like my rm spitfire

  • nice tone man, quite similar to my reissue fuzz face. and very great playing man!

  • my big muff sounds very similar except the big muff isn'y as chunky as urs but they r very alike.

  • very nice love the distortion.

  • It is not an easy task to obtain a good, controlable fuzz tone that retains the characterists of your original tone. I think that, with this particular fuzz pedal, you have succeeded in creating a genuine fuzz tone. Nice.

  • Have you ever had the oppertunity to compare this with a vintage Fuzz Face or a Fuzz Face clone?

  • nope

  • The new fuzz face clones aren't comparable with a pedal maked by the hendrix's assistant: roger mayer. If you want a fuzz pedal with the classic jimi's sound buy this, is the best. If you want a stronger sound than this, buy the roger mayer classic fuzz.(blue)

  • shit tone

  • Are you the guy that says that to every pedal video i've seen? Funny, I didn't see the videos of yourself anywhere. What's so shitty about it, anyway? At least make an intelligent response, not just "shit tone."

  • ~Have you known anyone thtas tried Fulltone 69 pedal or Fulltone fulldrive 2~I've been interested in both~

  • that is a sweet sound you got going there

  • and at 2:20 he plays a little bit from "who knows" by the Band Of Gypsies

  • Great playing,Nothing looks as good as a 3 Tone sunburst Stratocaster, with a glossy rosewood fretboard, and a mint green pickgaurd.

  • lol at one minute fifty four he is playing purple haze

  • SWEET!!

  • Great Job! I thought this video was an official Roger Mayer spot ((lol))(like the samples on his website)

It is really a great fuzz, I have the same pedal thru' the same blues junior & every time I discover new colors-sound

The fulltone wah (deluxe?) is a really great pedal, the standard one sounds like vox 848 clyde mCcoy (great vintage sounding wah & cheaper than fulltone)

    congratulations bye

  • This burns! It's sounds like a frying pan... which is excellent!!!

  • Too me you are not getting the muff sound right. You should sample the Digitech Hendrix pedal. Eddie Kramer should know how to get that 60's strat through the plexi sound, with all the vintage vibe. I use the distortion factory and the Digitech expression pedal and can tweek the sound very close. I have a plexi half stack instead of your fender though. You sound great!

  • wow, I can't believe someone made a video using this pedal. Thanks!!! i AM buying one now!

  • that pedal is nice. which do you prefer roger mayer or fulltone?

  • I didn"t try the Fulltone yet. but i'm looking for the Fulltone wah, that's sound amazing !

Did you try the Fulltone Fuzz ?

  • arghh you play & sound great!

  • Cool playing and sounds mate. You should try a fulltone 69 fuzz trough your BJ next time.

  • If i have the chance to get one... :D

Soon, i will try a MJM london Fuzz from a friend. ;)

  • Belle démo comme dab ;-)

  • That is an incredible sound! The spirit of Jimi was coming through in your playing!

  • thanks my friend.

You know we are all waiting your next cyber jam !!!?

  • allright...very cool...nice sound...fender tube tone..

  • Yeah my friend, Fender Amps rules !

    ;)

  • Check my clip same pedal(axis fuzz) through a marshall, i'll add other roger mayer effects soon

  • Very nice playing, thanks for another good video.

A bit too distorted in places but overall the pedal sounds great. I'm trying to emmulate this sound with my V-Amp 2 but nothing is like the real thing.

  • I think the same. I try ti had different sound sound with simulation on my Vox amp, but it doesn't match with a real tube amp and some analog pedals... ;)

  • Something different kassad,I think I prefer your clean sound, still good though.

Was that a "Band of Gypsies"number I heard there?

I'll have to get that album out of the loft, haven't played it for years.Merry Christmas Kassad!!

  • Yeah, a riff from "Who Knows" song, from the album Band of Gypsies... ;)

I prefer clean and crunch sound too. But sometimes, Fuzz is cool. :D

  • Super son kassad ! Super touché également...Excellentes fêtes à toi...

  • Merci, toi aussi ! ;)

  • Yay first view!

That pedals got a nice sound. Awesome playing

  • thanks...
