CNN Fact Check: Romney v Huck

Mitt Romney is the candidate who did not give any personal, deceptive, information to the American people. He shared the facts that could inform us as Americans. I wasn't going to vote for him, until I started reading the truth instead of listening to the deceptive lies of the media and other candidates. I am glad Mike Huckabee believes in God, I am glad he is stopping McCain in his tracks. I would never vote for him because he professes to be a devout Christian, and then he decieves people.

The problem is that people have forgotten what defines a "conservative". "Conservatives" should reflect the moral values that were indoctrinated in the forefathers. Now we have a divide between "social conservatives" and "_____conservatives".

We cannot push God out of the picture in order to establish our own agenda!!

I find it ironic that the spokesman for Huckabee in this video invokes the name of Ronald Reagan, when Huckabee states he doesn't want a "convert" to the pro-life cause but wants someone whose compass has always "pointed north" in affect completely eliminates Ronald Reagan from the picture as he too became pro-life just before running for President.

CNN fails to mention: Huckabee upheld the death penalty on more convicts than ANY of his predecessors in the entire history of the state! 16 death row executions! That is not soft on crime. Huck entered the office of governor with a deficit and left it with a $505 million SURPLUS!!! He moved to fix the roads and completely turn around a broken public school system into one of the best. That is RESULTS in a democratic state! Go HUCKABEE!!!

He raised a cigarette tax. I hope that people have quit smoking and will live longer because of it and are no longer crippling our health care system. I call that a win-win. If anyone goes broke because of smoking cigarettes I would call them foolish and lacking in self-control. In the meantime he mostly lowered taxes in a highly democratic state. Trump card: FAIR TAX!!!! Rich corporate cronies exposed!!

By the end of his 10-year term in office, sales tax was 37% higher, gas taxes went up 16%, cigarrette taxes increased by 103%, imposed a "bed tax" on nursing home patients. Government spending went up almost $10 Billion. Overall tax increase was $505 Million. Face it.. the only reason he supports the Fair Tax scheme is because he has no tax strategies because he failed at it already.

Pick up an economics textbook. Tax revenues have actually INCREAESED nationally. Would you say that Bush RAISED taxes?

It is the stupidest thing to call increases in tax revenue increases in taxes.

you can't measure how strict someone is on crime by how many people they've killed. the problem is that huckabee disrespected the judicial process and turned himself into a judge. it isn't a localized incident; he commuted 111 people;that's scary. its like he has a messianic complex and one favoring criminals. scary. and a surplus is easy to make with tax hikes, but its not conservative policy, its liberal.

I was pointing out the death sentences of the inmates as a rebuttal to those who argue that he's too soft. I can only imagine how difficult that would be... I just don't buy all of these attacks against Huck. People are pouring their "war chests" out on him to buy their presidency. This election will show us if our system still truly works...We can only pray for Huckabee.

if you really stand by your man, you shouldn't cry when the truth comes out about him, "bought" or not. anyone who whines about the increased focused on a a person's record is only afraid that it will sway their own opinion of them.. I'll say it again, him killing people doesn't make him tough; he commuted lots of people and that speaks just as loudly as him killing people... and i'll be mad at god if he interferes with this election. if he exists, he should leave it up to the people he created.

Do you really believe all of the distorted propaganda? Please tell me you are more intelligent than that. I never said he was "tough" but that he is capable of making "tough decisions". He is a compassionate man that believes in justice. That comes from the fear of the Lord. Are you mad at God for interfering to create your soul?

yeah i do believe what you call propaganda, incorrectly. i like how people call anything they don't like propaganda. his commutations are fact, and i would never say his death sentences are propaganda. unfavorable does not equal propaganda.. if god did actually create my soul, then no. but who's to say that what you are praying for is the right person? if someone else becomes pres., were you praying for the wrong thing? should you be punished for wrongly interfering with god's will?

I don't dispute the facts. It is how the facts are displayed, in a provocative manner- and many times out of context. I know you are intelligent, forgive my snide remark. I was pointing to the biased nature of our sources of information. God did an amazing thing by creating your beautiful soul! He has given you reason and judgment to understand the goodness of love! it seems we've found a common ground then. there are sources of information that don't display issues justly, but its done that way because it's what people want to hear. what i really don't like is when people cry that their candidate is portrayed improperly and then disregard that it happens across the board. it's the nature of politics. but i disagree with you that -- in this case -- the issues are portrayed wrongly. he has an liberal record, whether including context or not.

I agree. I admit that Huckabee has made mistakes, and he does as well. Thats a big reason why I like him- he is transparent and doesn't hide from scrutiny. He also makes sure people understand his side of the situation at the same time, which most of the time I can agree with his decisions.

I think in a lot of cases they are, but they let their emotions get the best of them(i'm guilty of that at times too). that's why its best to kind of remain emotionally neutral when there are things out of your control, and people are definately one thing we don't have control over, and luckily. elections will tell though. merry christmas.

The only reason Hukabee gets votes is because he is an evangelical politition. On a lot of things he is very liberal. The only real rep. conservitive cantidates are Romney, Thomson, Hunter, and Tancredo.
