Hi, I have a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 64 MB cache and 6gbps, the function of sata 6gbps is enable in my mobo, but when I checked my score it always gives me 5.9, I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, how can I know if it is working at 6gbps?
This please if possible.. It seems most people at moment can't even run their Sara 6th ports due to a buggy chip. My ssd or had don't work at all in those ports!! And no one knows what's going on. What a sad state of affairs. Would love your thoughts and help guys :)
Why aren't you approaching 600Mbps? Does the p6x58d-e use the same bridge chip technology to give the RAID controller the bandwidth it needs? Were you using the Marvell 9128? Whare can I find a block-diagram for the p6x58d-e?
@raydlevel5 The Marvell 9128 had a hardware flaw. It scored lower in RAID0 than if you were to put a single drive on that controller. They attempted to fix it with a firmware update, but they discovered it was hardware... it's a real pity. We'll have to wait for a next generation controller to really tap into the 750Megabyte Speeds. To be honest, I don't think any hard drive today could really pull that off even if the controller did work. Hahaha.
My question is with this board does it knock a single GPU from x16 to x8 while using SATA3? While its not a major GPU loss you still lose 5% performance from your card.
I know the x58 boards don't have this problem but my issue is most i5 1156 boards have this problem it seems. There a board that doesn't cause this to happen? I like SATA3 for the future but it seems like the current can't prove it can actually handle SATA3 speeds and it takes the x16 to x8 on the GPU.
@DSTDave Basically the transfer rate. This simply means data transfers from one "site" (e.g a hard disk or a SSD to another site) at a rate of 6gigabytes per second.

@joniwhytestar SLI or Xfire hinders the read/write speed of Sata3 in competitor's boards like Gigabyte

if i use sata 6gp/s and usb 3.0 on this board will my
main pcie slot run at x16 or x8?? i'd like to know before i buy this motherboard.
AL117X 1 year ago
@AL117X If you get this board, it will run at x16: Asus P7P55D-E PRO
If you want something cheaper than this one and from Asus, I am pretty sure the pcie slot will run at x8 if you use SATA3 or USB3.
