Does anyone know where we can read current information about John Hermon-Taylor's reseach in to MAP? The latest I can find is from 2008 where he says they will be moving on to human clinical trials "over the next three years". We're going in to that third year in a couple of months and I would love to see some current information about this and whether his research has been beneficial to humans. Thanks.
@George19881988 He says that a biopsy is the safest method, I long ago that I forget some of this issue, if it is true that Map causes Crohn but we must know sooner or later, probably while it is true that a certain portion will be difficult society supports it
Map causes Diabet in humans. Four doctors of the Sassari University (Sardinia,Italy) exsplain their studies publiscd in a famouse journal named Focus, february 2009 number...

Below is the response from the Prof when I asked him about whether UC is also caused by map. It can't be ruled out at all, just needs more research, or wait and see what happens when the vaccine comes out. At the end of the day, the 2 diseases are way too similar not to be linked
Also, there are different genes involved. For example, many Crohn's patients have a defect in the NOD-2 Gene which affects the function of killing intracellular bacteria (MAP). This gene is not involved with UC.
The Prof says he believes UC is triggered by most likely a virus which then causes an autoimmune reaction against the lining of the colon like other typical autoimmune diseases.
Only indeterminate colitis is likely caused by MAP. If you look at the studies where they look for MAP in Crohn's patients, the rate of MAP found in UC patients is pretty much the same as healthy controls.
UC is triggered by a microorganism Im pretty sure...& I wouldnt be surprised if it also had an animal origin. But if youve got a sore colon from UC and are susceptible you can easily get a MAP infection on top of UC...giving rise to the 'Indeterminate colitis' picture. Also local 'UC' like left-sided colitis can be caused by MAP and I have seen UC respond dramatically to anti-MAP treatment.
@hus25 I didn't get UC till after tons of antiboitics. :( My teeth out, infection, then another infection then bronchitis, then BAM it hit a month later.
as it is only an antiinflammatory treatment and the effectiveness is limited to a certain time only. Side effects on long tem are unknown. It does no cure and the price is 10x as much as the poroposed 2 antibioticos under tests in USA, Australia and UK . The antibiotics are to distroy MAP and not a maintainance medicin only.
Please pay attention to the goal of this video . Its about CURING and not maintaining

Question: If it's 'invisible' how can they tell it's there? 2. What's a PR test? 0o 3. Are those with Colitis ones with MAP too?
DryBONESreborn 1 year ago
@DryBONESreborn I believe he means that the MAP infection is hidden inside cells, you can't detect it through blood testing, microscopy or culturing.

Important to note that MAP only causes Crohn's, and not UC.
