In the end he goes back to Chidori anyway because she accepts everything about him ever though she acts like a hard ass. Chidori actually cares about Sousuke, not just herself unlike Tessa.

In the 1st ep Melissa commented "the captain was worried about you" hinting Tessa feelings for him. Sousuke didn't consider that Tessa liked him like that because he didn't like her like that.Of course Sousuke is dense about love, but he knows he feels something more for Kaname, which confuses him greatly in the 2nd raid. Tessa stepped up her game realizing he liked Kaname.
