I enjoyed all RE games (before 4) including RE0, Code Veronica and so forth, but Resident Evil 2 was the absolute climax of the RE franchise. It's the perfect survival horror game with an awesome story. It's as good now as it was when I played it at 10-years old, and the RE franchise went downhill after this game.

@spyninga1 RE: Operation Raccoon City which comes out next month is happening at the same time as RE2... it's basically a team-based action game from the guys who did a SOCOM-game, but it happens the same time, in 1998 at Raccoon City, with Leon & Claire, Umbrella's "clean up crew" who's out to destroy evidence, the mercenaries etc...

We commenced a playthrough simultaneously, me playing as leon, him playing as claire, and proceeded to have an entirely delicious time playing through the game. When finished, we compared results. @secutorclaudius Well, there isn't an exact order; of course, they do have a storyline, but speaking about gameplay, they were always the same until before RE4. If you have the PS2 and GC, I recommend the following: RE 0 (Gamecube), RE 1 (or the remake for the GC, which is pretty awesome), 2 and 3 (all three are available at PSN, really cheap), RE Code Veronica/X (I strongly recommend you to get this one either for the PS2 or GC; the "HD" version is not worth it).

@DoubleRRrandom If you are talking about for the Gamecube it is because Resident evil one was remade and then put on gamecube while resident evil 2 was just ported to gamecube. The difference being a port is the exact same game on a different console while a remake is more of the same game with better graphics and maybe a few different things here and there.

Oh damn I remember this game had it on Dreamcast (on DC there was a Rookie difficulty that gave you a machine gun at the beginning - infinite ammo too and you found rocket launchers & miniguns in the chests LOL). Probably one of the best RE's out there. I also dodged the zombies at the beginning but then I discovered Rookie mode lol Anyways great walkthrough man brings back a lot of good memory's. :)

If you play on hard mode and don't use your gun at the start until you get to the police station and go down the stairs where the tunnel is, there is a special zombie there which will drop a key if you kill him and can be used to unlock special outfits for Leon. Go to the Save Room opposite the staircase, and there are lockers in the corner, use the Key, and Leon will have two Special Outfits. Enjoy!
