fascinating: i just learned something--yet another way to determine whether a deaf person is leading up to a punchline? repetitive, annoying, even grating phrases. never consciously noted that before. BEST WOW EYE-POPPING WOW TOP!
Outtasight... That s*@t's so tight, I need to wear shades! You are Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner all rolled up in one. I have never seen such beautiful and natural use of classifiers. You move from the abstract to the purest most universally understood gestures and back with such ease. I would pay money to see you if you came to my town.
lol I thought you were serious. . . .I soo need to relearn ASL mine is horrible . . . I was wondering are you a Coda? I haven't looked at you other vids yet you probably say that in one of them
The point of this video is to be funny and to stress comedic build-up of this AMAZING interpreter... Repetitions are most appropriate in situations such as these. Plus, cool thing about ASL, the language is visual, not linear, so repetition and expanding/faceting is a natural part of the language. Conciseness is a trait of English (which is linear and high context) not of ASL.
Oh yeah, just leave him alone :) This video was made in good humor, don't kill it.

I understand ASL very well and I think the drama on the video is too much and so tedious to get to the point. I don't find it funny at all and it's just a lame video. I think most people won't find it funny.
Well I'm no so impressed. To me there's something lacking in facial expression. Really almost stone faced. And come on what happened to contrasting clothing. And how am I supposed to concentrate with that pec hanging out.
I love this guy actually. I don't understand a word he is on about. But if I were rich, I would just hire him to follow me around, and translate anything that came out of my mouth to anyone I met, throughout the whole day!
Whoa your sign is powerful. Now I feel like my ASL really sucks! Wow! Any suggestion on how to improve my degrading skill (it's supposed to be my native language :(). I'm currently learning Dutch and will learn dutch sign language someday! :D I'm going to subscribe ya! Wow! I can feel the power in your sign. LOL! Great joke ;)
That was HILARIOUS!!!! Wow, I almost fell off my chair! HAHA! Hey, I am an interpreter, the best one in my entire...house (well except my dog, he's pretty good, except he can't fingerspell with his tiny toes). Maybe I should try to contact Buddha and get some training. Seriously, interpreters shouldn't take themselves so seriously; some of us suck, and some of us are really good, and some of us are both, depending on the situation. So, that's true about any profession.
I know a lady , who was a student of big universty... cant say names or where lol... She fired over 50 interpreters in one year !! because she said they was fucking lousy and think they are awesome ... lmao when i mentioned her name, many interpreters got so angry ! lol lol lol
I am a certified interpreter. I do not think that I'm "the best," nor do I view myself as superior. It's sad that you've had bad experiences, but you can't make general statements like that about all of us.
Rugrugrats: You are one of the reasons I took another language and went abroad. Most people in the world are interested in someone who's making an attempt to learn their language and culture. But you, and evidently a lot of other native-ASL people, ascribe all sorts of hideous attitudes to ASL-learners from just about any background. Enough years around that and one turns into the monster one's "supposed" to be.
If you're an interpreter explain to me whenever I get an interpreter and I keep asking the interpreter to repeat what she/he is signing and I get an eye rolling attitude so therefore, a lot of interpreters are always saying they're good and We as deaf consumers are always struggling to fit in the hearing world and we ask for help and the help we get isn't sufficent enough for us to understand what the "heck" is being said. THANK GOD we got one less person not working as an interpreter
Wow. Your sign language almost perfect! I am Deaf only one in my whole family both sides of my parents. I see you are CODA with siblings who can sign which is awesome! Enjoy experience in China and come back to USA! Globilization is a tough situation.
