Canon HG20 Test - Another Color Manipulation Test

I use Sony Vegas and on the lower bit rates on my machine it works perfectly, for the 24mbs I try to convert it, but I'm still looking for the best converter most of them are garbage haha

I have the same camera and I do it like that: I copy .mts into iMovie and then to the cutting program I need. It`s not the best option probaly, but it is an option...

I've just bought an HG20 myself, but that .MTS format is driving me mad, I can't find any program that likes it, and when I try to convert it to something else, it's all jerky.

Have you got any advice at all? :D

I take it that you have a pc? I know people who have this camera and use Sony Vegas Pro or something and it works with that. I use a mac and use iMovie 08, final cut express 4.0, adobe premier pro cs4, and adobe after effects cs4 -- and they all work fine. The video will be jerky because of your computer specs most likely. So yeah..

@ScrewAttackEurope Sony Vegas is ok but a lot of people have had problems converting MTS and M2TS files.

I personally use Adobe Premiere Elements 7 and have had no problems whatsoever, why not download the demo of it and try that?

Pinnacle also works, and believe it or not, so does Windows Movie Maker. For WMM you just have to click "view all" when browsing for videos.

yeah image mixer 3 SE is the program that should come with your hg20 you first have to download and save to image mixer then import from your videos

you have to install a pluging for Premiere CS3 such "Main Concept", you have alternative video editing solutions: Corel Video Studio 12 have predeternimate AVCHD for example... Sorry my bab english...

What kind of color manipulation did you use in final cut express?

Just the basic color corrector, adjusted levels, contrast.. Added a gradient filter on this particular video... Blew up the highlights a bit to make the clouds pop.. Just really really basic stuff.. Fortunately, now I have photoshop cs4 extended to do better color control, color manipulation... I probably shouldn't have used "color manipulation" for the title... Meh..

I've been trying to use different settings lately. I'm working on a few motocross videos right now. As for the settings for THIS specific video, I don't remember the exact settings (and if that's what you were referring to, sorry). ;)
