@1979mirza haha almost the same year ;-) I was a big eubank fan and i'm from holland haha. I had fights with my mom because she wanted me to go to visit my aunt but i wanted to see this fight haha. I won by tko :P
Right to the div with the last two comments - FACT - it was a draw get over it - he is still spoken about nearly two decades on by the likes of us which would suggest he is worthy - Ian Brown ex-Stone Roses front man could never hit a note and still can't but he sells out venues and is still knocking out he albums - it is not about the quality of the opponents or the quality of the voice - if the fans think you are a legend - YOU ARE sunshine !!
Totally agree with u, but I think Benn underated him, and he just didnt train properly. The second fight he beat him, and everyone knows it. Anyway U have some great footage which i'm glad to watch. All the best.
all amazing fighters and fights but eubank was the best but was never the same after the tragedy benn fought with his heart loved too straight out fight that got him in trouble alot
the best fought the best then though, Hatton should of had a Benn/Eubank fight with Witter, Joke Calzaghe wouldnt of beat Benn, Nigel was dangerous early, and a prehistoric RJJ dropped Joke
he got them both way past their best, if he had fought Michael Watson who was way better than Benn and Eubank (look what Michael done to a prime Benn you idiot), Benn would of done to that fat irish prick Collins what he done to DeWitt, Barkley, Collins couldnt of stood with Watson no way, nor Eubank in 90-92
Collins was a fat domestos drinking, potato farming Irish bum, never fought anyone in their prime - Watson, Eubank, Benn, Jones Jr, Toney, McLellan etc were all better.
I love Nigel Benn. Chris Eubank seems to attract controversity but Benn has always been direct and right on. I'm not saying Eubank isn't a nice guy, but he just seems to get in trouble each time he opens his mouth. Nigel reminds me of Marvelous Hagler. Both physically and technically.
great stuff thanks for posting that.memory lane and all that.I loved barry mcguigne he was a one tuff bugger.also good to see frank.i was a benn fan for that fight.fuck don king!
the thing is though, back then we had characters, Benn, Eubank, Honey, Naz, Lennox, just to name a few, now you have Hatton, Calzaghe's fucking boring, and David Haye's quality
Shame Eubank is now skint.Evander Holyfield appears to be going the same way despite making TWO HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS in purses alone. Benn ? He now lives in Spain and is , I kid you not, a man of god !!
Good for Benn! Even thought i'm from the U.S.n when I was a kid, I used to read about Nigel and his wild ways outside the ring. Ring Magazine did an article about him a couple of years ago and it's cool that he's found some peace in his life and apparently he has taken care of himself financially as well. Nigel Benn was always one of my favorite fighters growing up and it's good that he's doing well in his life.
I was there!!I paid 50 quid and was seeing more of the fight watching it above the heads of others nearer the ring who paid 75 quid.Alright the ones nearer the ringside would`ve had ample view but i didn`t grumble too much.Didn`t want to see a draw though!!!
Jimmy Wilde, Ted 'Kid' Lewis, and Jackie 'Kid' Berg were the best but their all post-war so no-one can remember them. Recent, I like Nigel Benn, Lloyd Honeyghan and Ken Buchanan
Benn used to come out to the remix right? I couldn't find that myspace page, do you have the link? Seems like both versions of this song are rare online.
Does anyone agree with me that Eubank (around about the time he first won the first fight again Benn) was the best middleweight ever? Personally, I think Eubank at his best would have beaten Haggar, Leanard, Hearns or any of those guys.
so your saying he would have beat roy jones? eubank on had notable fights with english fighters..roy jones, marvin hagler, and hearns would have knocked eubanks out within 8rounds....peace
I'm going to confess that I haven't watched much of Roy Jones. But I've spent a lot of time watching guys like Hagglar and Hearns. Based on what I've seen I think Eubank on form would have beaten them. People seem to forget that Eubank had a rock solid jaw and literally a killer knockout punch. His defence was also bordering on perfect and he was supremely fit. After the Watson fight I think Eubank was never the same. He lost his venom. Eubank doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
Well that's just it, he didn't follow up from it. People were talking about him in those sort of terms after the first Benn fight, but after that awful performance against Dan Sherry.... and then being out-boxed (and made to look very disjointed) by Gary Stretch... and then falling to pieces after 6 rounds (weight-starved?) against Watson at Earls Court (albeit looking brilliant for 4-5 rounds)...

Great Post. Benn-Eubank I was a classic and the second fight wasn't half bad. As an American I must say that both Benn and Eubank are two of my favorite fighters. Their rivalry was a classic, in and out of the ring.
