For that money they really come in a shitty looking package. I have IEM's that cost less than 50 that came in much more professional looking and impressive packaging, along with accessories and documentation. Strange.
@riothero313 I ain't going to be listening to the packaging so it does not really matter, Nice expensive looking packaging are mostly used on crap sounding headphones such as beats because the average consumer will see it has nice expensive packaging and assume the contents are also as good when they really ain't.
@MTVDJBarrY beats by dr dre are pretty much the worst headphones you can get pricewise. sound quality is terrible with an expensive price tag. not a good combo
Plastic is cheap aka the beats, sennheiser, beyerdynamics, Bose, exsetra, exsetra. These I have to honestly say are made of the most highest quality, what they feel like is one thing, what they are made out of Is another. What the hell is wrong with people today, since when is metal, leather, and wood cheap, compared to headphones that are made of 90 percent thick plastic.
@lions66666 why dont you go to a manufaturer and get a quote on having the same item made out of wood, plastic and metal and i can assure you wood will be the cheapest followed by metal and plastic being the most expensive.
Are you people nuts, there is nothing cheap material wise about Grado, I own a pair, how can you say these are cheaply made when 80 percent of these phones are metal 10 percent wood, 5 percent plastic, and 5 percent leather, now yes you can say that about there low models the 60i and 80i and I think the 150 doller model, but not their mid to high grade models.
@lions66666 Dude, plastic is cheap, do you have any idea how much high quality plastic can cost and how much it costs compananies such as Sennheiser to make the moulds for their headphones, it is much cheaper to produce a headphone out of wood or metal then it is to make it out of plastic that why all the new companies coming out have their first models made of wood and later move onto plastic.
Grado made their cheaper models out of plastic because they knew they would sell more and make $ back
@fromtexus Hey! It's not about looks, but performance! And these are said the have the best in the world. Such that once you listen to them, nothing will ever come close.
Grado cans are the best, simple! I would love a pair of these they are on my wish list, got the SR80i now and love em....you addicted to cans man?! LOL I can't find review/ comparison vid of Senn HD800 vs Grado GS1000i are you going to do one? respect
@TheActionman12345678 The Grados are much better. I just bought the SR80i's ($110) And they sound much much better than the Beats Studios I had. And no, they weren't fake. Don't judge by looks.
@myparrots1 I saw them on ebay for 1000USD (extra for postage). I think the PS1000 series is $1695 in the US, but the GS1000i which you've got cost about 1000USD. I know they really try to rip you off with that taxation crap, so I just use ebay.
@TVperson1 i had this video confused with my PS1000 video but yes the GS1000 is going for $1000 new in most places and not just ebay but in UK most audio gear is much more expensive and even if we buy them from US we still have to pay taxes when importing them so i just avoid all that crap and just pay a little extra and buy them here and get them quicker also.
They cost less money in the US, 1000GBP isn't 1000USD which is what the US price is listed as, I think your supplier may have ripped you off. I'm from Australia and I just bought some SR80i's from ebay, they're pretty good.
England has the most retarded headphones in the world. go to america and get some beats by dre or soul by ludacris for better headphones that have better sound and are better looking. And guess what?! Their CHEAPER!
Grado is an American company from NYC. Beats can't even clean the shoes of Grado cans. Grado and Sennheiser are the best in the world. Sennheiser is from Germany.
@TheActionman12345678 Grado are American you ignorant wanker and Beats are for idiots. Grado do make cheaper headphones, how do I know, because I have them. Grado headphones sound like the band is in the room with you, Beats sound like the band is beating you over the head.
1. The way you assume that because this dude's got an accent, it means he's from the U.K. and in turn, the headphones he bought have to be British made. And by 1 set of headphones, you conclude the U.K. has horrible headphones.
2. Grados are american. Beats sound horrible, are over-priced, and you're just buying into the hype.
you could pick up a pair of Denon AHD-7000's for £300 less, open backed yes, but probably some of the finest dynamic cans you can get IMO, and they wont feel cheap, solid mahogany/magnesium construction = pure luxury
@ndrdd23 they go for similar prices new in most places, try a google search and see where it is cheapest, otherwise get a used pair, you can get used ones for about $600.
@EdenAfrica Yes, specially cured mahogany...give the guy a break at least he is putting a vid on so we can actually see them instead of a stock photo...and YOU watched it...the specs can be found all over the net, not many vids.
@rasgodoi10 At espeaking, Really? Would love to hear how you sound or if you can even speak fluent english.
You are a sheep my friend following exactly what you heard someone else comment a couple comments back, i would bet these headphones i can speak english much better then. How is Brazil these days?
@Bodudus I actually have several sets of high end open backed headphones as can be seen in my other vids and i also received a Grado PS1000 today, i buy them as they all dont sound the same so i have different flavours you might say.
I buy these to use at home with a desktop amp/DAC and i also own the very best portable Headphone/earphones currently available to use out of the house.
its not like you're gonna take these out when you're on a date - these are HOME headphones and I, surely others would agree with me, would sacrifice its 'ugliness' for sound quality.
I dont get it why Grado doesnt focus more on comfort. I understand, they want their headphones to have a vintage look, but come on, putting more comfortable eat pads on wont take away the vintage look. I personally think they're losing a lot of potential costumers who want to buy Grado headphones, but dont , because they're extremely uncomfortable.
@Moraud5386 My problem is that you are judging something without ever listening to it, and why would i be selling it and even if i was i would not be selling it for a thousand Boxes.
@Moraud5386 Also you should always try something out before putting it down, when you start putting something you have never tried down it just makes you look silly, these obviously aint the best looking of headphones but to some they might be but you dont buy headphones for looks, its the sound the produce that matters.
@Moraud5386 There is no way you would wear them unless you are at home, dude these are made to only be used at home or indoors, these are open backed headphones so cannot be worn out and about unless you want everyone else around you hearing your music and you being able to clearly hear everything thats going on around you on top of the music which makes listening to them pointless.
So again, rather then repeating myself please read my last comment again.
@myparrots1 Nice video man, do you think you can make a video testing the gs1000i and the sennheiser? It would be interesting to know which one performs better...
By the way from those headphones which of them do you like the most?
OMG did they just ship the Grado box directly like that? Without any protection at all? How fucked up is that? I would send them back tbh, the box is all fucked up. Anyway, I love your headphones, I have the RS1i and I'll never part with it.
I love your reviews so informative and it seems you go to no expense when it comes to informing your subscribers. Can't wait for comparison video, but can't you give a sneaky preview into which one you like best over the Sennheiser's and the Grado's I can't wait until the next video. =p
@MrRsKid Thanks, I prefer the bass of the Grado but for lifelike detail you just cant beat the HD800, after burning the HD800 in, i have found them to lack a little bass, at first i thought it was just right but some of the bass disapeared with burn it, it still has a nice amount but it could do with more, guess it's time to try them with some full sized amps but i really dont have space for such a set up at the moment.
@oLACHESISo Just a little higher then medium listening volume then every day just turn it up a touch but dont do it too loud as it can end up damaging the drivers.
@oLACHESISo when you blow your drivers if you play at too high a volume, if the drivers start distorting then you know you need to turn the volume down.
Actually, everything above the Grado SR-60 is a waste of money. Go look at the frequency response for these, and compare them to all of Grado's line. All Grado headphones apply the same roll-off of all frequencies below about 120 Hz, and have a -huge- overcompensating bump at around 200Hz. Boomy, unnatural, inaccurate bass. They're simply not even close to neutral or flat frequency response. Look into Denon or Beyer (preferably Denon, the D5000's) instead.
@Username93611 If you judge headphones by frequency response alone, then you know very little about headphones or audio gear.... you can find headphones for 50 bucks that have similar frequency response graphs to those that cost 2000 dollars, but they sound completely different. Those graphs mean almost nothing, its just a general overview of sound signature, but it doesnt actually say a lot about how the headphones sound or about sound quality.
@Username93611 Dude actually give headphones a listen before judging, if you think you know exactly how a heaphone sounds by looking at a graph then you are an idiot, when your looking at those graphs can you actually hear the music, No, so you aint got a clue how they actually sound.
"Dude", how do you think those charts come to exist? Your ears are not magical devices that hear more accurately than an electronic device designed to detect different frequencies of sound without bias. I've owned Grado SR60s, 80's and 225's, as well as Beyerdynamic DT880, Etymotic ER-4S, Denon D5000's, Bose TriPorts, Sennheiser HD595's and a bunch of others. I regret the SR-80 and SR-225 purchases, a lot. They're cheaply manufactured re-brands of the SR-60 design. I know, asshole.
@Username93611 Any you think you can tell exactly how a headphone will sound from a chart, silly you, like someone else has already pointed out, there are $20 headphones that have frequency charts similar to those of $1000 headphones yet the $20 ones still sound like $20 headphone while the others sound awesome as they should, people like youself actually need to get into the habbit of trying something out before putting it down, so the asshole here is you asshole. "you know" You dnt know shit
Woow, Matt, you can't stop, can you? hhaha you amaze me in every way.
Because of you now are into open back full-size big boys, it's gonna be worth it to use some soundproof solutions for your cute Lucky while you are listening:
Search for Soundproof Bird Cage at "audimutesoundproofing" website.
At the home of the webpage, go to applications, and then birdcage.
@JADJuanan Thanks for that site, i just checked it out and dont like the idea of covering my birds cages up just so i can listen to music and they would rip it apart through the bars anyway and i doubt it will work thgat good anyway with how loud my parrots are especially with leaving parts of the cage uncovered.
Currently i use the headphone at night when the are sleeping so it dont bother me at all and i hardly listen to music while i'm at home anyway.
People afford 1000$ for it and they present it with a cardboard box?Fuck Grado.

jeffhardyrofftops 7 months ago
I have the GS1000 (not i), and they are awesome! I still want to try to compare mine against the GS1000i and see if I could hear the difference.

OMG did they just ship the Grado box directly like that? Without any protection at all? How fucked up is that? I would send them back tbh, the box is all fucked up. Anyway, I love your headphones, I have the RS1i and I'll never part with it.
Aizura77 8 months ago
Wow, it says Grado GS1000i on the box? That's like a big "steal me" sign for the postal workers or other people.

I love your reviews so informative and it seems you go to no expense when it comes to informing your subscribers. Can't wait for comparison video, but can't you give a sneaky preview into which one you like best over the Sennheiser's and the Grado's I can't wait until the next video. =p
MrRsKid 8 months ago
@MrRsKid Thanks, I prefer the bass of the Grado but for lifelike detail you just cant beat the HD800, after burning the HD800 in, i have found them to lack a little bass, at first i thought it was just right but some of the bass disapeared with burn it, it still has a nice amount but it could do with more, guess it's time to try them with some full sized amps but i really dont have space for such a set up at the moment.

@myparrots1 Thanks for the preview can't wait till the actual review video comes out.
MrRsKid 8 months ago
@myparrots1 For burn in what volume levels would you recommend?
oLACHESISo 6 months ago
@oLACHESISo Just a little higher then medium listening volume then every day just turn it up a touch but dont do it too loud as it can end up damaging the drivers.
myparrots1 6 months ago
@myparrots1 When will you know that you have damaged your cans?
oLACHESISo 6 months ago
@oLACHESISo when you blow your drivers if you play at too high a volume, if the drivers start distorting then you know you need to turn the volume down.

Nice headphones :o

I like the look of the Sennheiser's much more but the Grado's probably sound brilliant. Looking forward to the review.

@wiredtunes Will try start doing reviews in a month or so, i have just been really busy recently.

@wiredtunes

@Username93611 hahahahahahaha you're one jealous tit going around gs1000 vids and talking shit
NosferatuAaacaado 5 months ago
@Username93611 If you judge headphones by frequency response alone, then you know very little about headphones or audio gear.... you can find headphones for 50 bucks that have similar frequency response graphs to those that cost 2000 dollars, but they sound completely different. Those graphs mean almost nothing, its just a general overview of sound signature, but it doesnt actually say a lot about how the headphones sound or about sound quality.
derbigpr500 5 months ago
@derbigpr500
What was that? I couldn't hear you over the volume of your audiophile fantasizing.
Username93611 5 months ago
@Username93611 So, you're clueless AND stupid. Nice.
derbigpr500 5 months ago
@Username93611 Dude actually give headphones a listen before judging, if you think you know exactly how a heaphone sounds by looking at a graph then you are an idiot, when your looking at those graphs can you actually hear the music, No, so you aint got a clue how they actually sound.
myparrots1 5 months ago
@myparrots1
Username93611 5 months ago

At the home of the webpage, go to applications, and then birdcage.
;-)
JADJuanan 8 months ago
@JADJuanan Thanks for that site, i just checked it out and dont like the idea of covering my birds cages up just so i can listen to music and they would rip it apart through the bars anyway and i doubt it will work thgat good anyway with how loud my parrots are especially with leaving parts of the cage uncovered.
Currently i use the headphone at night when the are sleeping so it dont bother me at all and i hardly listen to music while i'm at home anyway.
Thanks though
