  • i used to sing this at school kids dont sing anythink like is anymore witch is a shame it needs bringing back to linconshire schools

  • Thank you lovely version of a great song

  • 395 395 247

  • @Tallest9 I do not understand?

  • @threelegsoman Sorry, there's just some creepy-military-spy radio station that constantly plays coded numbers. It also plays a fragment of a song called The Lincolnshire Poacher at frequent intervals, so that's what most of us civilians call it. I don't actually know what transmission used those specific numbers, but I saw them in a video once.

  • @Tallest9 Ah, now I understand. Not come across it myself though. Thanks for the comment and the explanation.

  • @Tallest9 I think I'm the only person who got that lol

  • I always love it when I hear this song! Although I'm born and raised in Canada, my gran's family came from Lincs, and big piece of my heart lies in places like Tattershall, Wood Enderby, Wrawby, Woodhall Spa, Owmby-by-Spital, Market Rasen, and Hundleby! :o)

  • That's a nice rendition! I managed to teach myself the song as well, thanks to your annotations.

    By the way, nice guitar!

  • @ToastmachineIdiot That's what I include them for Sean. Glad to have been of help.

  • Great stuff... (whilst technically not a yellow belly - I was born in Yorkshire - Lincolnshire is where I grew up and is my spiritual home)

And I'm a descendent of many a poacher - legend has it one of them's dying wish was that the ambulance taking them to hospital would knock down the local gamer keeper 'so at least I could take 'em with me'

  • Brilliant, regards from Lincoln!

  • You are required to be very pissed before attempting this song.

  • I come from a long line of gamekeepers but still feel an affinity for poachers - I suppose there's not a lot to choose between them!

    Beautifully done, thank you.

  • I seem to remember this was my favourite on my Grandma's old Spinners tape.

  • Ace rendition old mate. Happy St Georges. LOL

  • Great song!!
