good video . i want to learn how to use one .. just .. cuz i think they are cool . haha i think if they tought this at normal american public schools maybe kids would want to learn math a little bit more because its fun to use an abacus instead of writing on paper.
that was a really good lesson. but ya answer was wrong.. u had three numbers right tho.. but make more videos, cause i really wanna learn how to work the abacus
@Sunwitch1 i actually turned 13 last month. i have slowed down a bit for the viewers to develop a better understanding. that and i was too lazy to think ;P but i wouldnt be surprised if he is faster than me since i stopped learning a few years back. i remember the material but im just a much slower than i was before. ;) oh well xP
Hi, I'm so glad you posted this video, Its really really helpful. I have a much better Idea now but would you please use 10 examples in adding using single digits. Then use another 10 examples adding two digits with a single digit and finally, another 10 examples adding two digits with two digits? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!! I really found this so very useful and would be forever grateful.
im 12 too wait were u tlaking about me? lol never mind i finally got a new camera so i will have the next lesson up soon but it is i little longer then 2 minutes so i might have to split into 2 parts

Thanks! hope you get a chance to do another really soon. Maybe you could borrow any digital camera and then plug it into computer to put file on youtube. I like that you taught me subtraction on one row. the multiplication is still a mystery to me :)
srry guys i was in six flags and i was chasing someone and there was water on the floor and i had my camera and i well i guess u know wat happens next lol well i broke my camera and i looking for a very good one thts new well duh so uuntil then i cant make videos srry i told u guys so late srrrrrrry ill try to geT a new one ASAP do u guys no any brands tht r good and i can upload instantly to utube????

I live in a pretty small town (Rapid City, South Dakota) so there aren't really any places to buy them around here so my only option is to buy one online. As for ideas as to what to do...Maybe show what the abacus is really good at: adding up lots of large numbers quickly. You did the multiplication pretty quick (oh yea the answer is 4263012, looks like you just mixed up a few digits) so it shouldn't be too tough to add like 5, 6 digit numbers together.
ok i'll post up a few more videos, im not very fast at it because i never practice but when i show you my reg. speed just double that and thats what it suppose to look like!!!!
woah how weird! I just got interested in soroban/abacus just a few days ago and have been looking at videos online of people using them (there aren't very many) so it's strange that you just added this video today =) Still don't have my own abacus yet. The ones that aren't huge or total junk aren't really that cheap >__>
I bought a abacus today. However, it looks different to yours. I dont think its a soboran like the one in the video. Erm...the beads are black and theres two at the top instead of one.
i've seen one of those but sadly i don't have one the one that u have is much eaiser to use because of the two beads on top i'll tell u about them in the next video when my mom remembers to bring home her camera from her job i can't bring it home because im very fogetful, ok this is going into my personal life some im just going to shut up now
@luigi12356 That's the chinese version if you have the two beaded on then just use the one bead at the top because the extra bead at the top is used for decimals.
yh uve got a chinese abacus... thers no difference really, just use four from the bottom and one from the top... i think thats how it was used originally the extra beads wer because they had a different no. system or something or the other, i cant remember :P
You know you get 54654 x 78 wrong

You are a great teacher for being so young. I think McNuggets are disgusting though, so maybe talk about real food next time please.

Could you please show us how to do division on the abacus. But you explained it really well and moving slow was important for me to watch what you do.
I am going to teach my kids this from you-
btw why do you use soroban when you are chinese? I bought Chinese abacus recently because my kids are half chinese.
