  • I think its funny how people think the Amish are so different from everyone else.. the only difference is the belief and the way things are done.. the Amish are normal human beings like everyone else, there are good and bad among them just like every other ethnic group..

  • I'm from Lancaster, pa and let me tell you all... These Amish are bone headed and have Rocks for brains. They are very hypocritical and are cult like in the way they will exile someone for doing too much business out of the community.

  • @jennar007 I am not really religious, but I am a Christian...

  • It's funny how people ask "How do amish treat their livestock." I mean really people? they are just people!

Also I very much enjoyed how you answered these questions giving us a bit of insight, but the pauses and ums made it a little harder to understand, no offense! Thanks for the great vid!

  • I don't mean any disrespect or anything, but this is an honest question. Are the amish well educated? because we bought a puppy from an amish family and he didn't know how to read the dog-food box, he just showed us the name.

  • @TooChakalypse Nope, they are not. They most likely are educated to the 8th grade.

  • how does the amish feel about police?

and the hospital? do they go there when they give birth

  • @urbreakinmyballsdude They are OK with the police, and yes they use hospitals, although some still use midwifes, if it is high-risk, they can't.

  • i have alot of respect for this guy to give up the lifestyle must be hard if your raised in it

  • Hilarious how people who eat meat and wear leather ask about animal cruelty! These fools are the dumbest of all animals! Kind of like these idiots who say they care about humans yet support wars! Or the real idiots who think Arabs did 9/11! Israel and Jew traitors committed the DEMOLITION on 9/11. Communism is JEWISH and the Holocaust is 100% bullshit, nothing but Communist Jew propaganda. These Amish peoples existence is threatened by the new Jew Communism that took over America since WWII

  • I read in a book that Amish call non-amish "English" because we call them "Dutch Amish" and they don't like that because the roots are mainly from Germany. That's just something I read I don't know how true it is. I would like to have some clarification on this subject. Thank you.

  • I'm a little confused because I have been learning a lot about the Amish, but I don't understand why the outsiders meaning non Amish are refered to as the "English"?, when not everyone is English, you may have already touched on this subject and I've just missed it.

  • @missCentral2009 OK I think I should make a video about this soon...

  • @missCentral2009 I guess this is a tradition that started after they came to the US, they started calling the non-Amish people "The English", because they spoke English (while the Amish themselves spoke German, which eventually developed into what is now commonly referred to as "Pennsylvania Dutch"). Well, that is at least how I have understood this issue. Maybe somebody else can offer a more detailed explanation.

  • where are you originally from,MR Deleted? I am from Lancaster County Pa-

    lived in Landisville,Mount Joy,West Lampeter,Strasburg and Rawlinsville

  • West Salem Ohio till i was 9, then in Shreve for 4 years, and then moved to Wooster. I have lived in Ohio all my life except for 6 month when I was in Ft. Wayne IN.

  • @mrdeleted hey thats around my area

  • the amish are under the same laws as the rest of america.

  • They do not always live under the same rules though (IE they may not report crime within the community, choosing instead to hide it from the authorities.)

  • I'm curious about the German dialect spoken in the Amish community. However, it seems difficult to find good audio samples of that online. If you are a speaker of Pennsylvania German: Does it enable you to follow the mainstream German (or else maybe Dutch) media, or is it too remote? The German Wikipedia entry about the Amish gives a rather beautiful sample sentence which I can understand - like a Palatinate speaker with a very thick accent who inserts English words once in a while.

  • I have a few pa dutch videos on here, so if you want, check them out... I have one of the numbers, and a few phrases

  • Thanks for answering! I had watched the video of your parents before, but they were talking English.

Living in Mannheim, Germany, I must say that the similarity of your pronunciation to the dialect of this region here is pretty obvious. Some people would even, somewhat jokingly, write "siwwe", instead of "sieben", for 7. Or "fuffzehn" for 15. On the other hand, "zwee" for 2 sounds more like Dutch to me. And the "ch" in your "sechzig" for 60 sounds 100% High German.

  • Thanks, ya it is interesting in the comments of that video how some people found it similar to their own language, and not all of them were German, but other countries like Holland.

  • can a mexican become amish...i was just wondering i dont meant to be offensive...i used to have a friend who was amish she lives in shipshewanna indiana.......

  • @kelsidawn1 it is rare to have people join, but I see no reason why a Mexican would have less of a chance then an American...

  • can i ask???what made you want to be english instead of amish

  • Ignore all the ignorant people commenting on your videos. The fact that you're even sharing your Amish experience so explicitly and honestly is commendable. And these douche bags who come on here and fuck with you came to your video, you didn't ask them to view your video so fuck 'em!

  • Not sure how I came across this post. But am curious about the Rumshpringa. OK. Off to my next wierd interest.

  • Great video.I know a lot of Amish and I'm glad you are answering your questions very honestly. People would be surprised on what some of them do. I live in Ohio and the ones around our area are the Old World Amish. Where are you originally from?

  • Slowest fucking talker in the world. Get on with it!

  • @PharodWormhair you say you want to get it on?

  • So he left the Amish and now dresses like a slob? Is that an improvement? Hardly!

  • where is the guy dressed like a slob? i don't see him. I see a guy is a clean shirt, and a hat, I can't see much else. Maybe you see somone else?

  • I'll clarify that: he's got long, greasy hair and needs to shave. It would make a better impression on viewers. Instead, he looks like he went from being Amish to being a cast member on Wayne's World.

  • OK so my hair was wet, how does that make it greasy? I just had a shower before this...

  • this guy isnt amish at all.

  • ya I left 10 years ago.

  • man kann einfach so als amish sagen "ich hör jetzt auf amish zu sein!"?

  • You look really Really tried man

    and thanks for Q&A's

  • you should write a book mrdeleted! i'd buy it!

  • Thanks, I was trying at one time, but got side tracked...

  • thats bull man,if a black guy stole a camera he would get a longer sentance then a white guy who molests kids..what sick un justice system we have!

  • So true, Molesting kids and getting 5 years... I can not see how that is justified.

  • So do you.

  • Thanx for your kind answer my frustrated friend!

  • Not at all, but you must be!

  • Thanx. I think you are a funny person.

  • I do what I can!

  • Great Videos. I have a ton of respect for your culture.

I always wondered if there are any Black Amish or Amish converts who are not of German, Dutch or Swiss Decent.?

  • Not that I am aware of (unless in rare cases where a couple adopts) But I do know I was told about a girl who got pregnant with a black baby, and not knowing which of her co-workers was the father, had to go to the church and confess that she was a whore...

  • puppet mills? puppy mills? what are those? i dont understand

  • Puppy Mills are places where puppies are raised by the 100's for the sole purpose of selling them to pet shops, and in many cases, they are not well cares for.

  • what country or countries did yours and all amish peoples ancestors come from?

  • Europe, but I am not sure from which countries they all were, but I assume a few different ones like Germany and Holland, as the "PA Dutch" is similar to a a few of these European countries.

  • also i have another question, what kind of music do the amish listen to if they do listen to music?

  • The Swartzentruber Amish do not allow music

  • My Great Grandmother grew up in a closed German Amish community.

  • I used to live in York, PA, and my neighbor (who lived across the field) was Amish. I met the husband on a number of times, when he was plowing his field. He always said to me, "Englisher, you won't like it being one of us!" then he grined. Not sure if he was pulling my leg, but it was found memories. I never did met his family.

  • Interesting... Wonder what he was talking about, but thats cool :-) ...and thanks for subscribing!

  • i just want to tell you that i adore the Amish, their culture and religion...I went to PA last weekend, unfortunately it was Sunday, so I didnt get to see the people, well just one couple...Can you tell me when's the best time to go visit? Any special holidays? thank you!

  • ok thanks : -)

  • no problem!

  • Doesnt it Break your heart just leaving your family? My friend has wanted to join the amish for three years now, and she was wondering if that was even possible.

  • Well I still get to see them sometimes...

For joining, yes she could, I been asked that before and I been thinking of making a video about that.

  • Do you use Drugs or are you just stoned on weed? My father grew up Pen Dutch and I've worked with many Amish. They are much like anyone else. They get High and have Sex and enjoy making money. I digg the hairy legs and pits!!!

  • Weed, you want some? Oh, wait you are on crack.

  • I have watched all your videos, they are great. I am curious if you know anything about what is going on with the US government, and as an ex Amish, if you do, if you might comment on how this will affect the Amish?

  • Yes I am aware of the US politics, and I have concidered making political videos, but have not done much in that area... Partly cause politics gets people mad, but there is always a way to present anything to I guess.

  • when yall get sick where do u go?

do u go to a clinic or do u have a amish doctor.

  • I Amish can't be MD's cause they don't go to high school much less to medical school... But there are Amish "herb doctors" which some Amish use, but we also went to real doctors, and I remember that we often went to chiropractic doctors too.

  • thanks... i was always curious about that.

  • No problem :)

  • I was living with this old order amish family b/c I almot went amish a few years back. question: why aren't the Schwartzies allowed to have lights on their buggies? When I used to go to the livestock auction at Mt Hope, OH there were a lot of Schwartzentruber kids and they never acted like the other kids. they seemed like they didn't have a normal kid life and that always bothered me to see. mr deleted, you have a lot of lost time to make up for! at least you escaped. Congradulations on that!!!

  • They have oil burning lights on the side of their buggies... I am thinking of making another buggy video and talking about the white and yellow buggies that not many people know about...

Thanks, I am one of a few that dared to escape...

BTW I will be reviewing a video soon that was aired on BBC called "Trouble in Amish Paradise" that I am downloading now...

  • Dear Ex-Amish guy,

What group of Amish where you from?

What do teens do when they go out on a date? you can't go to movies or clubs to dance so what do they do then.

What do you think about the Abuse of Children with-in the Amish?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

  • Swartzentruber Amish

for your second question, I suggest user "amishdeception"'s video on Swarzentruber dating

I think any kind of abuse is bad.

    No problem

  • WOW were you high while doing this video???

  • Yes, did you want some too?

  • Voe sinn die shanie mates?

  • In the back room!

  • Vee Bish'd? I have a friend that was working as one of the head nurses in a hospital and she was told not to report the cases of amish child abuse. The case was reported and the authorities didn't do anything to the guy. They just took him to his bishop .The bishop just sent 2 men to follow him around all the time and the guy was let off the hook after he gave a confession and appolagized. I think the problem is that the wrongdoers are not being punished under the law. That is a big part of it!!

  • So true, and that is the major part of the problem.

  • Glad that you were able to break away like I did. I found that the whole being Amish thing was more about their rules and less about people. I left beacuse they do everything without love. If that was not true then why are all the church services still in German? One day I will get past the ways that the Amish people have hurt me. If you don't want to live your life according to someone else's personal agenda then stay away from the teachings of Jacob Ammann and Menno Simons. Sorry to be boring

  • Not boring at all, I get all kinds of feedback in interesting way about my videos, last night I got a call for a guy who I need to help me with a project, and he started to talk about my videos too...

Anyway, that is exactly what many have been finding that these too people were more about making rules then about helping people learn about Christ...

  • you're my idol. I find the amish community so interesting and i give you props for doing this (:

  • Thanks so much!

  • i think this dude is full of shit

  • From the looks of your username, so are you.

  • Hmm (sorry it toke me this long to reply), I think the reason they did not like me, was cause of my family's history of coming from another sect (my grandma on mom's side), so everyone in my family had a problem with everyone, but things happened, and we ended up moving to this area, and it did not help. Now the area was mostly my family (aunts and ungles), and a few other people, but those people also did not like us, so tentions just got bigger... It is really hard to explain the whole thing..

  • so what is your standing on the concept of forgivness.

  • I believe you need to forgive if you want to be forgiven...

Actually, for the Swartzentrubers, they need to learn that concept, as they do not seem to know how to forgive.

  • I know this is a weird one but how do the amish folk view masturbation?

  • I don't think they like it... I know of a guy who got caught doing that and it toke them a long time to get over it...

  • I'm sure its frowned upon as it is with strict southern baptists..they are in some ways related.

  • Animals have souls or are souls rather. You are a human soul and they are the souls of whatever species they are. Its all over the bible. Its also sinful to be cruel to animals and to kill for sport. A righteous man roasts his kill..in other words you can't just kill an animal for no reason. This is part of the significance of fasting and it should be noted that God had to shed the blood of a lamb for us because we disobeyed him. It is the first time blood was shed on this earth sadly.

  • First? There was killing and blood shed as far back as when Cain killed his brother... I am wondering what you trying to say...

  • What part of what I said are you questioning? This guy was from England was wondering why he sees no Amish there and its because the Amish are descendants of the anabaptists..the pioneers of the reformation. They are European settlers like the rest of the white/european americans who come from there ancestors of the mayflower. The roman catholic church would torment the heck out of protestants and so they said "later" and the amish kept chose not to evolve with the rest. They are very american.

  • Hey sorry for the confustion, but you did not click reply to his comment, so it came out as a reply to the video rather then to him... He also will not be notified of your reply unless you post it under his message by clicking "reply" above his message.

  • Sorry about that. I thought I did that..guess not.

  • thats ok :)

  • Dude you are off your head on drugs you totally look stoned. Americans are so stupid, with your crazy messed up religions.

  • the dude looks like hes off his head on drugs!!

  • How come there arnt any Amish in england? Also, how well do the Amish (born and Raised) understand the outside world. As far as I know, the Amish do get a chance to go out into the modern world (I couldnt think of a better word), but how much education do they get about it? Would they know who the current president is and all that? (Just so you know, I live in England, so i've never actualy met an Amish person before.)

  • hmmm i guess that is cause of them coming to America a few 100 years ago, and staying here...

I think most of them would, they can read newpapers, although they probably mostly read the Budget, an Amish newspaper...

  • thanks for replying so fast.

  • well becasue they left the old world to come here. they are descendants of the reformation group and since that time was 1600s?? They came here and actually before we were set on a language. German almost became our language but the quakers stayed with it..its why most of them are tri-lingual. They learn English but I think some amish groups primary language is German/Dutch and they learn English as a second language. They have one room schoolhouses usually till the 8th grade.

  • I am from Centralamerica, when I was a boy I remenber dreamed with two old men and one old lady dressed like to the Amish people, it was curious because I never saw Amish on my country So now I was in New Holland and Lancaster, PA. 3 times and they are a beautiful people for me I guess They are SPECIAL PEOPLE. I am not religious but I believe in God.

  • thanks for the comment, did you have a question?

  • I have a question! how common is it for an outsider to join the Amish church?

  • they can't

  • I've read around that they can! I have another question! How do you say, "Shut up!" in Penn. Dutch?

  • as for "shut up" it is something like "saa shtill", maybe I'll make a video sometime with some prononations...

  • Thank you!

  • Not so much for the Swartzentrubers, although I know of one family that left after joinging the Swartzentrubers... But there are actually online groups of people who call themself "seekers" who want to join the Amish.

  • Do you know the name of one of those groups?

  • Conservative_Anabaptists on Yahoo Groups, you can also search that site for Amish keywords...

  • elderly woman and has confessed to doing it other times after being caught. How would the Amish community deal with him if he were released from prison and placed back in the Amish community? How likely would he be to continue abusing other young girls in the community?

  • Would you be willing to call me? The number is 800-739-VILLAGE

  • Hi Mr. Deleted, I'm actually writing a paper on how the Amish deal with pedophilia. One of the questions I have to address is, what types of concerns should there be if an Amish pedophile is released back to the community on parole? and why? I ask with respect, becuae I have been unable to find much information on how the Amish deal with pedophiles. The scenario to my case is that an Amish man has been incarcerated and is up for parole, but he has sexually assaulted plenty of kids and an

  • Although I am "English" I taught at an Amish schoolhouse in Gordonville pa for 1 term. I did not see evidence of child abuse in all my years of associating with the community. Is it a big problem in the Amish near you?

  • This is pretty much based on my experience with the Swartzentruber Amish sect, and although not all of them are abusive, the biggest problem that I see is that they do not report it, and that makes them just as guilty as those who do abuse.

  • You still have a very Amish accent. i was just at a friends Amish wedding today in Gordonville PA.

  • Yes, I know :p

  • Think amish just Got Methish!!

  • hmmm...

  • yo amish, i think you got methish!

  • how do women give birth without technology, that must be hell

  • I'm a man, and all I can say is, I am glad I am not a woman!

  • ok that was creepy, hearing all those muffled mutters.....couln't hear a thing.

  • Get a hearing aid.

  • No bitch, how about you get a fuckin razor! Seriously this is a crappy mumbly vid, talk into the damn mic.

  • Congrats on learning to talk. Blocked for using the f word on my vids.

  • I've got an urgent question. I've met an old friend who dates back from kindergarden, and he agreed to come on a trip with my buddies.

He doesn't know we are flying to Tokyo.

He's not going to panic and scream "WITCHCRAFT!", is he?

  • I am not sure why he would, but i assume you know him better then I would.

Sorry I did not see your comment before.

  • is he drunk? or should he put some pep in his lip? pick it up dude!!

  • Me? naa I never have got drunk in my live.

  • is it me or does this guy look like emelio estevez?

  • I am not sure who that is...

  • boar....RING...!!!

  • So r u

  • if you do something like that, please dont make people falling asleep, speak interesting with a normal voice..

  • yr a drunk

  • ya, I drink about 2 bottles of wine a year.

  • dude ur a spook go back 2 the amish

  • thanks, people love me for it :)

  • Congrats on getting yourself blocked.

  • have u watched weird al's Amish Paradise song?

  • one of my fav songs :)

  • i'm from malaysia, i found out that amish is somekind interesting to me. their quilt is very very beautiful, their lifestyle kinda remind me of the old english hundred of hundred years ago. my question is there any possibilities that this culture will be dissappear or vanish in short time since there are to much of globalization factors around them?

  • I am "English", but had many Amish neighbors, when I lived in Southern Iowa. I have been fortunate to become very close to many families in the community. I have eaten at their tables, worked beside them, been invited to family gatherings, and stayed in their family's homes when I've driven them to other states to visit. There are so many misconceptions about the Amish, which is a shame. I feel so blessed to be so accepted, and I have the greatest respect for the people and their beliefs.

  • Why did you left amish cult? Hard life?

  • I wouldn't classify the Amish lifestyle as a "cult"...it's just a way of life. When you understand the reasoning behind their choices, it actually makes sense...although it's not for everyone. It's not perfect, but it's certainly more healthy than what we live with in "modern" society. It is hard work, but the positive work ethic and sense of "community" are inspiring.

  • I enjoy listening to you explain your journeys in life. I respect the Amish and have a better understanding that most English. A few years back I was involved with a Amish guy and he left to come and live with me. It didn't work out but we remain friends. He explained alot to me about the Amish ways and I have many friends who are still Amish. Why can't people understand that they are human just like us but choose to live a very simple life. For most parts a good life. Hope to hear more from you

  • do you ever see any of the amish people you grew up with

  • Yes. Some I would not know who they are anymore, but I have spoke to some who now have large families (you may think I have a lot of kids with 4, but my one sister now has 14!)

  • cool thanks for responding so soon :)

  • You are not amish, you're a drug addict .I grew up amish and watched many of you goofballs get lost on dope and I think you are a disgrace to any culture. Remember Danny Miller from Holmes Co.? Learn a lesson..... Hashbiya

  • Oh ofcourse I am not Amish, I left that culture almost 10 years ago! As for drugs, yes I have taken some like cold medicine. But I never got addicted to it.

I can't say I remember Danny Miller, I was never in Holmes County that much, so I am not sure what you are talking about.

Also hard drugs are bad for you, please seek some help before posting again on here? thanks.

  • do the amish date?

  • Yes. In fact they practice "bed courtship" in some groups, meaning the dating couple go to bed together, with a board between them... like that is effective lol.

  • lol can they move the board?

  • or jump over it lol

  • lol i wish i was amish!

  • lol well I am not sure that is a good thing though, you may end up haveing to get married cause of that.

  • lol not if they dont find out

  • In most cases, they would! One of my sisters' boyfriend insisted he had sex with my sister to get my parents to let her get married at 19. My mom did not believe him, but the ministers forced her to let my sister get married. Ofcourse he had to pay for her till my sister's 21st birthday, as if she was his maid... BTW that sister now has 14 kids.
