  • it was not so long ago a jury found that bbc newsgathering had fabricated evidence in a failed effort to see me imprisoned ...

if bbc newsgathering had been successful my children would have been in need ...of a father.. but as fact it is shown this was of no consequence to the bbc ...journalists of bbc news committing offences under section one of the perjury act in a failed effort to see an innocent man [or so the jury found ] sent to prison....

  • children in need ... a weapon in the ratings war no more no less....

    one more thing....

  • oppress :

    v. 1 keep in subservience 2 govern or treat cruelly 3 weigh down [with cares or unhappiness] oppression .n oppressor .n [latin : related to *press]

during the process I suffered [falsely as the jury found] that cap surely fitted the bbc very well .....

    picardjunior

  • I cannot believe that this counts as news.

  • he bottled it. typical journalist, spends a lifetime criticising others, but cant take a bit of crit himself from the judges and fellow contestants, despite public backing.

he now does some p*ss poor topical comedy panel show on a freeview channel which is just a copy of every other one. he now joins the ever growing ranks to make a living out of being z list celebs. its like an industry sector in itself. condemned to do talking heads on nostalgia clip shows on minor channels for eternity.

  • why have a public phone vote, if you dont like the way the public votes? the show wants the massive revenue from the phone vote, but wants to brush aside the public's opinion. ultimately who pays the judges wages? the public does. they already brought 50% vote for the judges and thats still not enough for their egos. without the likes of sargent this series would not be as popular, as most of the celebs lack humour and personality, they are just driven by ego to win and come across as false.

  • isnt it a bit pathetic that people r writing in to keep him on the show? TV is getting ruined by dorks sending complains left right n cenrte

  • I reckon Jonathan Woss wuns the BBC weally, which would account for all the cwap on BBC.

  • he didnt HAVE to leave but he was getting a bit anoying since heather or cherie could hav stayed in longer loool cherie bust be REALLY REALLY MAD!

  • Well at least give us Ola and her catsuit as a replacement!

  • John was forced out by bullies, and the bullies went unpunished by BBC. That's justice BBC style.

  • jonh made a right thing but one thing kill the bullies

  • I didn't want him to go he was the only reason i watched coz he was entertaining well i guess i'll go back to the x-factor lol

  • Sigh, this is such a NON issue, why has it got so much press attention at BBC news, self promotion and hype.

BBC should stop dumbing down it's content to try and compete with ITV's saturday night phone in judge humiliation shows. It should be a channel full of quality with some intelligent programming, now it is being reduced to perverted shock humour (J Ross, R Brand, A Carr, J Carr, G Nortion, Little britain) And all quality and intelligent programming has been thrown out the window

  • I like John Sargeant and have followed him as a journalist but he should stick to what he knows and has done the right thing stepping down.

  • Love you John!

  • I want him to stay in and win!

John got what 'Strictly' should be about. Having a laugh. Yes, I understand that some people think it's silly him being in this dancing competition, but for casual viewers like me, I just want to be entertained.

If people vote him to win, then clearly the public love him and he should stay.

    Oh well, good show John

  • I don't know. Certainly it's about entertainment value, but there's only so many times you can watch someone butcher a dance and have it be entertaining. I prefer the entertainment of watching someone who isn't normally a dancer actually going on to dance *well*. For instance, Tom's quickstep and Austin's paso doble gave me far more entertainment value than watching John. He's a nice fellow and all, but I think this was the right decision.

  • i think he was pressured out

  • tosser

  • this programme is gna be so bland without john, 2 many boring mofo's left in the competition

  • Who cares. This countries television is a fucking joke now.

  • Yes it is a shit show and definitely not news worthy but now John has left we are left with more uppity desperate D list ''celebrities'' doing anything to further their career. Not only is the only entertaining thing gone but now I can't see Kristina's fine ass anymore.

  • It IS a magnificent arse.

  • What a lovely bloke.

If you could still vote for him even though he's out he would still win :)

  • idea's person wanted by bbc for brainstorming media scandals as to attention from any latest blunders from the labour party

  • I think he just wanted to leave in dramatic way looking like a saint but infact leaving the way he did would only win the hearts of the people more and leave a longer lasting memory than the actual winning of the dance.

  • fucking dumb ass programme

  • I think his desicion is admirable. its a dancing show. he couldnt dance. I think he could see he was turing into a poster child for the uk publics reality tv backlash, like that daniel bloke on xfactor 'oh wouldnt it be funny and get right up the judges noses if he actually won?!'. stepping out was the right thing to do. (no cheesy pun intended)

  • so it's not ok to have a bit of fun ? , we saved the planet in ww2 , by singing silliy songs in the underground , never forget how to smile , dance and sing !!!

  • Is the BBC News so stuck for a story that it has to report on reality TV. John Seargent's decision to quit is for "Strictly Come Dancing" to announce, not the BBC News.

  • without being nasty theres far more important stuff happning in the world without having hand bags a dawn over this poppycock

Q:whats white and wriggles about the floor?

    A:cum dancing hehe

  • He quit because he has a lucrative cruise/speaking engagement booked & also lets not forget he was due to do the jive this week....can you imagine it, thank god he's gone....reinstate Cherie I say

  • I was so annoyed when it said breaking news. I saw (not this one) a news report on BBC. ITS NOT BREAKING NEWS! When princess diana died that was breaking news! not bloody John quits from SCD! First the Russell Brand thing got out of hand and now this?? What is the UK coming to!!??

  • Go to BBC Complaints and get John back

  • Will u wakeup! no one bullied him off the show he left because the ppl that were voting for him and I quote: 'turning it into a joke too far' not to mention that he never had any intention of being there this long as its been reported that he has a holiday booked in 2 wks The judges critiquing the dancing is part of the entertainment of this show it would be very boring without that

  • Complain to the BBC. They bullied Sergeant off the show. Let's bring him back.

  • Lol! Have you seen him interview politicions? I dont think JS gets bullied by anyone tbh! Clearly its his decision.

  • Noooooooooooo.... the only reason I watched this show was to vote for him. He was different and just because he wasn't perfectly botox fit like the other kens and barbie. Public over snobby judges anyday.

  • I have nothing against John Sergeant, but he should have gone ages ago. His constantly being saved was turning Strictly Come Dancing into a farce.

  • Register your complaints with both the BBC and Ofcom. It is outragous John has been bullied off a show that pretends to be family freindly.

  • Saturday night wont be the same.

  • So the whining has beens and never weres former dancers who make up the judges got their own way! Pathetic! Arlene has gone from Hot gossip (tacky dance group- just imagine a second rate Pan's People) to shrill whiner. Sad.

  • hu gives a smeg, he quit end of, still think yhis shuldnt of made yhe headlines

  • So sad he had 2 quit. Yes, it's a dance show, BUT ALSO a show 2 ENTERTAIN ppl

Even I, here in Belgium luv 2 see him every Saturday night.yes there r real good contestants there, but john did what he knows he can share n do for the viewing public.. ENTERTAIN... give us a smile in our faces.

ok, IF D PRODUCERS knew this would happen, am SURE THEY HAVE CONSULTED D 4 Judges while selecting the contestants. John , we'll miss you! thanks ;-)

  • Very disappointed that John has taken this action. Yes he was the worst dancer by far but he was entertaining. The public liked him. It was time for him to go BUT as for others in previous shows i.e. Julian Clary etc. they kept entertaining for their public vote. In the end the semi finals - finals has always been won by the best dancer. Very disappointed in his decision to quit.

  • it was a bit annoyin to see him get through every week and not even in the bottom 2 when u had some really improved ppl end up there and leave like that week heather and rachel were there (ok ppl want sum jokes and an old guy just jiggled down to the floor VOTE VOTE VOTE but not even jodie ended up there) but its a bit upsettin to see him pull out cos its like hes given up on sumfim. u chud tell christina was really upset as well.

  • this guy had overthought this to death...way too much time spent thinking about this...

  • Bowing with grace.

  • what a shame that a man who has given true entertainment to Saturday nights has had to quit like this- shame on the judges who are on a hoseasons holiday up their own alimentary canal- if you think the show is about the best dancers then put professional ballroom dancers on and see how many people watch it then, probably not as many who tuned in to the show for a little smile on saturday evenings,

  • Arlene: I hate you! Keep your comments for yourself and your family. John is not a pig, he's just an ordinary English man learning to dance. At least he tried his best; my late British husband lived in South America, he loved the music, the people and the environment but he never, ever moved one single foot or his hips for fear to look silly. Give some credit to John and apologise for your nasty comments!

  • jo brand should shave her head and stand next to john

  • so true!

  • Ha Ha He talks like jo brand aswell

  • A true and proper gentleman.

However, aren't the voting patterns in this series a clear indicator that the public are so bored of this kind of show that the only enjoyment they can glean from it is to vote for the worst dancer to wind everyone up !

  • I read that one of the judges complained that "it's called strictly come DANCING not strictly come ENTERTAINMENT".

Erm, excuse me, but that's the whole point in the show isn't it? It's meant to entertain people, not to get them so wound up about a bad dancer that he's forced himself to quit.

  • Poor John, it's sad he had to go. I wanted him to only because he was getting so much hassle, otherwise I felt he could have gone on a few more weeks, as long as he wouldn't have knocked out Lisa, Tom, Austin and Rachael, as they are the only people who can actually win. John would never have won.

  • Fooking Legend!
