  • @MyHorror101 o lol!!

  • Ohh, durien! ^_^ They made an ice cream out here with fresh durien. That was the only container with a tight lid on it (phew!)

It was pretty good, but I had to psyche myself into finishing it...!

  • @margarbeast lol! did you eat it indoors?

  • @FoodOddities I ate it outdoors... but it didn't make much of a difference! PHEW! That stuff is strong...! >.<

  • @margarbeast lol! my mom will never let any durian inside!

  • I have a scorpion pop (yellow one), and never touched it,

  • @danicazelle13 i think maybe it will stay good for years!

  • I'm drinking the juice right now.... XDD

  • @MarineEverGreen o yes!!!!

  • have u ever tried krupuk its a fried prawn chip

  • Once I touched a prickly pear.... NOT the best feeling ever.....

  • @88hunghung i am glad i never have

  • @FoodOddities me too skin that fruit while wearing thick gloves, it small needles on that fruit feels like fine slivers in the skin, I almost went crazy trying to get the needles out of my skin by rubbing it against sandpaper and what not! Try bee pollen sometime as long as you are not allergic to bees

  • @somepersonudontknow o good im not allergic to bees i will do it

  • @88hunghung lol i was at the store playing with one and i dident know it was like a cactis

  • have you ever tried the crazy hair mexican candy it tastes like the tamaringo

  • @hamstersrock619 hair candy?i have never heard of it i have to find some!!

  • @DantevKratos o man is it duriany!

  • omg, you're so adorable! :)

    love from singapore ^^

  • @IsekiMichi thank you!! im blushing:)

  • Tamarind is better when made into a drink, not eaten directly. As you experienced, the flavor is overwhelming when eaten directly. Dissolve tamarind in water and add sugar.Tamarind dissolves better in warm or hot water. The amount of water and sugar you add depends on personal taste. It's a very refreshing drink. It should be drank cold, although you can drink it hot if you like.I don't know anyone who likes it hot though.

By the way, there's sweet tamarind and sour tamarind.(sour is best)

  • @7k7p1mnm we make soup made of tamarind and YES it is delicious. :D ALSO, there are sugar and salt coated tamarind that's considered as treats here in Philippines and YES! They're ALSO delicious! :D

  • @itsreginachi tamarind soup? i think that might be awesome!!!

  • @FoodOddities yes, people use pork or fish or beef or shrimp or chicken and add in some vegetables. we call it Sinigang. :)

  • @itsreginachi oooo makes my mouth water:D

  • Lol 1403

  • @magicalracisttaco huh? i dont get it:)

  • Tamarind! Haha I'll eat it at school&people are like "ew looks like a cocaroach!" lawl

  • @Lexii102458 good idea! or a real cockroach!

  • Yummy, tamarindo :)

I've never eaten the actual pod though, just lots of candy flavored like it. I have lots of goodies in my pantry ^.^

  • @lunarheart14 you probably have more than i do!

  • Two ideas from Bolivia in South America. Salteñas and Chuños.

Salteñas are just absolutely incredibly delicious and are eaten almost every day, no matter who you are. Chuños are small potatoes that have been frozen and thawed many times before being squashed underfoot, peeled and dried rock hard. They're great in soups!

  • @jmlidea how does the freezing and thawng make them good? that is so cool

  • @FoodOddities Essentially, they are naturally freeze-dried. They are left out overnight where they freeze, and as they do the moisture in them crystallizes. When the hot morning sun hits them, the crystals sublimate (evaporate without thawing). They let this happen for a number of days until they are completely dried out. To speed things up, and to remove the skins, the farmers usually roll and squash them with their bare feet! They have a wild sort of earthy flavor, almost mushroomy!

  • @jmlidea mushroomy? i am sold! i love mushrooms so much. that sound awesome

  • I love durian :

  • you should eat whale or something

  • @sawu101i would love to try it they eat it in japan so maybe if i can go there.

  • Michigan state beat Tattoo U today :D

  • @janellek21 yes! i thought we almost lost it though! it was so close. why tattoo u? because they have a lot of tattoos? lol!!:)

  • @FoodOddities Because Ohio State got in trouble with the NCAA because this tattoo parlor was giving the football players free tattoos and paying them for "jobs" they were hired to do but they never actually did any work hahaha

  • @janellek21 ohhhH! my mom was talking to my dad about that! lol! those cheaters!

  • You should try Bird's Nest Soup. It's another one of those expensive delicacies. I hear it tastes like something that Big Bird may have swished around in his mouth before spitting it into your bowl!

  • @jmlidea that sounds sooo gross!! lol! hilarious! if i could find a way to get it i will do it

  • Have you tried Cuy? It's roasted guinea pig. I used to get it when my family lived in South America.

  • @jmlidea i never tried it i would so try it if i had a chance:)

  • Speaking about complicated fruits........ ;)

  • @88hunghung lol!@

  • i love that tamarin candy my mom said that she used to eat it when she was a kid

  • @bayleighpgee i bet it is pretty healthy to eat:)

  • @cheveydavidson soon as i can find one, i will do it!

  • @cheveydavidson i never have tried it! i think i coud think of a good theme for that one:) i will try it

  • Hey Remy, getting back at the stinky stuff, you should try Surströmming (fermented Baltic herring). According to a Japanese study the smell of a newly opened can of this is the most putrid smell of food in the world. Since it's Swedish, you'll have to import it or have someone send it to you. Happy meals!

  • @MadChefJim this goes to the top of my list then i have to find some! my dad will have to search online:D thank yoU!

  • Remy you are so awesome and brave. I would be afraid to eat scorpions.

  • @tiger15boi o thank you!! well ill tell you what if i never eat a nother scorpion i wont be sad:)

  • the durian candy is gross, the milk inside the durian is what makes the smell bare-able

  • @audiocable i think i have only ever gotten drier ones because i have to buy them frozen and let them thaw

  • You have to taste saladitos!!

  • @MTayde i had to look it up but it sounds good! if i can find some, i will do it

  • @FoodOddities I live in mexico, they sell them here, if you give me an adress where I cand send you some, I'll do it ok? you cand send me a private message if you want ;)

  • @MTayde for real? that woud be awesome!!! i woud love that! thank you i will ask my dad and i f i can i will private messag e to you

  • You're one of the most awesome kids on the planet. Surprisingly guanabana juice and durian candy are much more common than scorpian lollipops where I live. I love durian aswell and guanabana (also known as soursop) juice is so refreshing. Guanabana is also related to sugar apple and the cherimoya. If you get the change try kiwano horned melon it is a very strange fruit. I've only had it once and it was amazing. It would be cool to see you eat it on food oddities and see what you think of it. Yo

  • @doyoulikewaffles360 horned melon?ok it is on my list then! thank you!!

  • Was this made after your came from school? Or before?

  • @kevinsinger2 it was last saturday

  • Cool & sweet upload. Thanks for sharing Remy.

  • @JinnMokkil thank you!!!

  • Lol enjoy Remy. It does smell as soon as you open l pranked my friends with it:)

  • @stephaniebarney lol! that is awesome! i wonder if i should take some to school. thank you again so much:D i forgot that on nate berkus show we never even actually ate the candy because he woudnt do it. so this was my intro duction to it!!

  • Try Scottish Black Licorish ech!...

  • @DelightFools oo! i can do that! is it really strong?

  • @FoodOddities I'm not really sure cuz it depends on the individual like to me just smelling the aroma gets me slightly intoxicated. It's an acquired taste like I hate how it smells and even tastes but I still eat it once in a while cuz it's texture gets addicting to chew.

  • @DelightFools it is on my list then!

  • @FoodOddities btw where did you get the scorpion suckers? cuz it would make for an awesome prank or double as a trick or treat for Halloween

  • I've eaten durian and I likes it. I didn't think the smell was very bad. I've ate prickly pear and tamarind but I haven't had a scorpion pop. What did the scorpion taste like when you ate it? Awesome video Remy

  • @mouselegs41 i wasnt actually able to bite through it. it was like a rock! but the big scorpion i ate tastd like old dry shrimp:)

  • I love tamarind candy! I get it at the Indian grocery store here in Charleston...it has a bit of chili in it and it's delicious. Jarritos tamarind soda is good too :)

  • @janellek21 i didnt know they make tamarind drinks!!

  • @FoodOddities They do. Jarritos is a Mexican soda company. They make tamarind, mango, guava, hibiscus, strawberry, pineapple and something called tutti frutti that tastes like hawaiian punch. Piggly Wiggly and Winn Dixie carry them down here, and if there are Mexicans in Lansing the local Mexican market would have them.

  • @janellek21 o yes we have a market like that! i will go there for sure.

  • @janellek21 you know what?my cousins just moved from charleston and my grandma used to live there as a young girl and my grandma and grandpa got married there!!

  • I'd love to know what was going through the mind of the person who invented the scorpion pops. "Hmm...this child's sweet needs some added scorpion!".

Oh, and Remy...you should try some Black Pudding. You can get it in the US from britishfoodshop website

  • @tonymasons o awesome! i looked and they said you have to have it shiped overnight that is cool. i want to try it!

  • WOW cool show and i wish i get to try some of that stuff

  • @shaggyolsen o man yes i cant remember an easier time eating:)

  • Wayyyy better music/voice proportion!

  • @Wilddornrose thank you!! my dad tried harder this time

  • @FoodOddities You trained him good :D

  • @Wilddornrose lol! yes!!

  • at first i was like, sweets?! no, i'm having none of this, you must eating something vomit-worthy! but then i was like .. okay - remy, you the man.

  • @AngryCrowTakesFlight lol! rthank you!!!

  • That's better, I can actually hear you over the music this time...

Those all look pretty good, I have to say. I'm guessing the rest of that bag of prickly pear popcorn didn't last long... I tried fresh soursop when I was in Kenya - I wasn't overly impressed with it I have to say, but I would imagine the juice would be quite refreshing. Hadn't heard of it being used to cure cancer before though.

  • @imbethondion maybe in the can it is sweetend? but yes my dad made sure to lower the music this time:)

  • There's a bunch Mexican candy that is flavored with tamarind. It usually has red chile in it too and it's really good x3.

  • @VampirePumpkins oo yes! i am starting to love chile

  • The durian candy reminds me of some leece nut gummies I got at the mall a while back in the asian food store. They smell like old lady mixed with garbage, but they taste amazing.

  • @branfeather lol!!! ok now i have to try those!!

  • Great job Remy! Those all look delicious!

  • @KlonoaofBreezeGale thank yoU! it is not often that i get nothing too gross:)

  • Nice! A Sweet Smorgasbord!

    :D

My friend Stephanie brought me some tamarind from her family visit in Mexico years ago- it is very sour, but is good! The popcorn does sound really good!

Glad you liked the guanabana juice!

    1433! LOL!

    :P

  • @RogCBrand thak you roger this one was fun but now i have to try some thing disgusting!

  • @FoodOddities LOL! Disgusting food is kind of the crowd pleaser!

    :P

But I do like when you mix in stuff like this! Most people would never try any of the disgusting stuff you try, but vids like this might get a lot of people to try something new that they'd never have thought of trying!

  • Did you really count all your licks without losing count?

  • @zhaneranger well to be honest i held it under water for 10 minutes:)

  • mmmmmmm...........Guanabana Nectar.........

Here in El Paso, we have many of the Jumex products in grocery stores.

I've had some of the more conventional flavors, like mango and papaya,

but never guanabano. I should have no problem finding some. The other

item I've seen are the scorpion pops. I loved the take-off on the Tootsie

Roll Pop commercial....but I'm sure your other fans and I want to know.

    DID you eat the scorpion?

  • @harmgb1 o! lol! well we shot that last shot 5 times and i coud never bit through it!!first i tried with my front teeth that is a big mistake it hurt! then my side teeth then 3 times in the back it was too hard!! but i still have it. maybe if i freeze it i can cruch through it

  • Great video remy!

  • @sebastianthe4th thank you very much!!

  • I love prickly pear candies

  • @victorianoddities i went from not even knowing it was food to think ing it is awesome now!!

  • You did it again little dude...Congrats !

  • @grossebobette thank you very much!!

  • Nice to see you back Remy, this all look like dessert comparing to other food you've taste :) Hope school his good and take care ;)

  • @lelib2007 thank yoU!! yes school is awesome so far. i think after this time though now i have to dive back into something disgusting:D

  • i never knew there was tamarin in worshestershire sauce O_o

i love eating it fresh i buy it in the local asian food store. it make a wicked good sweet sour sauce to

  • @TeaIicious ooo i didnt think about that i love sweet and sour sauce!!

  • Tamarindo *shudder*. You should do a whole episode on Mexican candy. That's some of the worst "edible" "candy" on the planet.

  • @MrBlaarghh loL! ok i will have to look for more!!

  • Thanks for having the popcorn I sent on your show. Thank you so much!

  • @Zarthga thank you so much for sending it! it was awesome and i loved it:D

  • I meant fried Fat Back ! Sorry !

  • so, is the durian like cooked onions? or raw? because I've known cooked to have a stronger, sweeter smell so I'm just curious :)

  • @ulawan5 it really smells like raw onions that were left in the trash and you went on vacation and came back and the whole house smells like rotten onions:)

  • @FoodOddities hm, sadly that smell MIGHT be familiar ^^; XD

  • @ulawan5 lol!!

  • Good job Remy ! Have you ever eaten friend Fat Back ? It is a southern food, it is bacon that is not cured and you wash the salt off and slice it and fry it, it's one of my favorite foods in the world !

  • @fairiegirlga wow no i havent i will look for it. does it taste like bacon?

  • @FoodOddities it is white not reddish like bacon, you MUST wash the salt off and then you slice it a little thick and fry it, my fav dish is cornbread with stewed tomatoes and Fat Back, take a bowl and crumble the cornbread in it and pour the tomatoes over it and drain your Fat Back on a paper towel and eat it, so good go to Betty's Kitchen and ask her if she has a video for it, she is on Youtube and about to get her own cooking show, she was on 20/20 recently she is a very nice lady

  • @fairiegirlga i just subscirbed to her!

  • @FoodOddities Good, ask her to check out your channel and maybe she will subscribe to yours ! Good luck !

  • @fairiegirlga good idea!

  • I want a shirt :)

  • @smashstuff300 i have to redo the ones with my long hair on them:)

  • 1ST COMMENT OH YEAH!!!
