Hey, thanks so much for the vid. I have just spent the morning replacing my power jack. (travelmate 4060) Now the screen doesn't light up. I can see windows starting, but it's really dark. Any ideas?
@hotlicksdan Sounds like the backlight inverter cable is not plugged in. There are to cables for the screen. 1 flat ribbon for the video signal and one smaller cable to power the backlight inverter. heck that cable.
Are the Ac power jacks on net books this difficult to take apart im good as far as soldering goes been doing that for years but ive only done simple stuff like added ram and changed out hard drives, but i been asked to change out the power jack on a net book. any advice or tips????
You can get any number of free detailed pdfs on how to dassemble a laptop which are actually IN FOCUS ! this is little more than a short treatise on how to weild a set of techinical screwdrivers.
THE most important part about not destroying your motherboard whilst desoldering (by the way what is desodering !! on second thoughts dont answer that one) is entirely missing making this vidoe complerley useless
@mattstant If you have found a pdf on how to disassemble this model acer laptop, then leave it in the comments. I was unable to find one, that is why this video is posted. If you don't know how to solder or desolder, you can look for a video on how to do that.
Thanks for the video very utile.Volevo know exactly where on the motherboard are connected those 2 wires (one black and one white) that are part of the monitor. Thanks again.
Hi, did you have to bridge any of the pins on the back of the new jack with solder or was it a simple swap? I ask this because on the back of my old jack 2 of the pins are bridged. Thanks
@andysworld101 I didn't have to bridge any on mine. I guess if your old one is bridged, then bridge the new one. Just make sure the inner pin connector is not bridged with the outer connector.
Hi .:)I Have Acer Aspire 3680-no warrenty cz expired.1day it fell down frm 1.5feet..i observed dt DC-in jack not doing well..it went inside..not in preoper position..so no power supply for laptop2work..but laptop software is good..can u please give me exact corect needed guidence2solve dis problem and to get my friend laptop in helthy condition???pleeeeeeeeez..i am waiting..
Y'know, I don't need a video to tell me how to disassemble a laptop, any chump can do that. I was hoping on how to SOLDER the damn thing to the board without burning it, only to see you skipped the most vital part. Great.
@roetemeteor You can find plenty of videos on how to solder, once you learn it's easy. The dis-assembly is the hard part. Keep your soldering iron on a lower setting and it won't burn the board.
thanks

@leonv62 It really varies on the model, some are really easy and some are really difficult. What is the model?

hy there,
i was thinking to replace it by myself to you know,
i got all the material to do this,
but the new jack adapter has 5 pins, a dubbel one in the back.
and my motherboard (acer aspire 3650) has 4 hole-connections.
i just dont find how to place it,
because the dubbel pin on the jack (in the back) cant fit on the motherboat because it hasnt the space for 2 pins. how i fix this?
Thx
