I beat SH Homecoming and I'd do it again. I thought it was going to be shit but the story is pretty good, I liked it as much as the Travis' one. The Spider boss was the only one to whoop my ass a couple of times. Cool game, recommended.

THeBesTTHereIz951 I think SH4 was pretty decent, considering it gave us a wonderful character like Walter Sullivan. Sure, the other characters were mainly emotionless, but he was the life of the game. Oh, and SH: Homecoming was a great game, everyone just refuses to believe so because it wasn't made by Team Konami Silent. :/
@OlgaFlowDivine I know, right? Everyone bashes this game, saying it's the "Shame of the series," but I say that even though I liked it, SH 4 was worse than this game. An dI hold it in higher respects. I had constant suspense.
@OlgaFlowDivine I do like Homecoming but, I'll bring the same thing most people bring up about the game, the combat is awful, it is so easy( though not necessarily unfun) to kill almost all of the monsters( except perhaps the Siam) with the light light heavy Knife combo. When the monsters are so easy to kill it takes away A LOT of the fear, or at least to me it does. The story was..bland as well and more often than not didn't make any sense. I will agree that it is still a decent game though.
@Jarrecko Really? Most people I've seen about complain about it being too difficult. They also say you can't run away from some monsters, but that's also a load of bullshit. I did a playthrough in which I ran by most monsters... Nurses, ferals, smogs... It's easy. But perhaps you got used to the combat quickly, lucky you. XD
I guess the story got me more than 2, for some weird reason.
Also, you gotta admit. Hell Descent was one freaky as shit level.
@OlgaFlowDivine Hell Descent was really ominous and very freaky, but another one of SHH's problems was that unlike the other SH games that had lots of little things you'd notice while walking around that would freak you out, SHH had very few of those moments( such as the invisible monster in the Prison in SH2 or the freaky face as you climb up a ladder in SH3). Yeah try and use the light light heavy combo, it really makes the game easier though I don't recommend using it on some bosses.
People say a lot of crap about this game and I don't understand why. This game had the best Fighting Mechanic; fights were lot thougher and you rarely could run away from an enemy. Plus, it had one of the best storylines from every Silent Hill game.

@XxThexXxReaperxX And guns are underpowered making it even scarier, I mean in resident evil you shoot some magnum and a zombie goes down and you find bullets around the corner in this it can take an entire clip and you rarely find ammo, running out of bullets when you were surrounded was terrifying.
Honestly I dunno understand why people say it's a bad game. I have and completed it nad I loved it. I'm playing SH3 and 4 now and I'm not having the same fun as on Homecoming.

Ever since Origins was being made there've constantly been rumors of Akira leaving. I wouldn't be surprised if he does the soundtrack of the next game.
The game was good for the plar, but the storyline was a lot of cliché, and it was very predictable from the beginning. But the good score goes for the gameplay, the atmosphere and the kickass graphics.

silent hill 4 isnt really a silent hill game, there is nothing to do with the town in there, if konami had just called it "The Room" then people might have liked it better.
silent hill 4: the room was originally concebed like a game en the same universe than the others silent hill games but separated form the original main titles, for that reason the gameplay is different to the other titles from the silent hill saga...
that's what they did but the finished calling the game silent hill 4 the room what did sucks in my opinion, but it's still good...

This theme was great for the game's little movie when you wait to long, Alex running through foggy streets, talking to shady looking people. The best part is when he's talking to his mom when she's rocking in the chair holding the gun in her lap, this song playing and she says "No.... they're all gone..." truely a good game ^^

I wasn't a huge fan of "Hometown" from the Silent Hill 3 OST. It's a remix of the Silent Hill 1 theme, and could be heard in a lot of the Silent Hill: Origins trailers. I can't stand the vocals. The lyrics are very subpar in comparison to the other Silent Hill songs. And while I can /tolerate/ it, 6 minutes of the dreadful vocals is too much.
Every other musical piece Akira Yamaoka has written however, is nothing short of genius!
I -completely- agree with you. Cradle of Forest (from SH4) was slightly more tolerable, but I just don't like Romersa's voice... It has that creepy edge, but... I dunno

me personally, i think silent hill vocal tracks should have never been introduced. whats wrong with tracks like "alone in the town" "the rest" "other church" and "day of night"
Nothing's wrong with them. They're all great tracks. But the vocal tracks like "Theme of Laura", and "You're not Here" add another layer to the music. The lyrics are quite amazing.
I started with Silent Hill 1 as well. Man those were the freaking days! Silent Hill was not the best game for a 10 year old to play :) First time I played it, I got so scared at the Alley (dream sequence), that I stopped playing for a week. Haha.
Sorry for the reminiscing! I almost forgot my point. My point was that I started with 1, and still love the Vocal tracks!
That game gave me nightmares like you wouldn't believe... I never got very far in the first one, something I regret now because it's the one game in the series that's no longer in our possession. But darnit, I'm still looking!
Yeah, I don't have my copy any more either :( I spilled cola on it a few months after beating it. I didn't realize that I had spilled cola on it, and when it dried, it was all clumpy and stuff. I tried to clean it off, but the dried cola ripped parts of the disc off too. Ruined the disc :( What a shame. Great game.
I didn't play silent hill, but I played Resident evil 1 and 2 when I was just a little 3rd grader. Not a very good idea playing scary games when you're little lol ^_^
Oh yes, Resident Evil scared me as well. Resident Evil 2 was the first Playstation game I ever played.
Nowadays, I don't know how anyone can find it all that terrifying... I mean, it might just be me, but with the exception of the first game in the series, they've all just been fun, but not scary.
Let's not forget his ability to follow you through doors. Because every other enemy could never follow me through the almighty door! But Nemesis....he just knocked the fucking thing down.
Oh yeah, even the strongest, most intelligent monsters (cough, Hunters, cough) can't figure out how to get through a simple, wooden door (with the exception of the zombies/Hunters in the first game). Nemesis just shows that door who's boss.
that's what re was about that state of paniced fear that you get when somthing attacks you which was only restablished with re4 but becuase the fact that your character could take several axes to the face it became more of a slaghter-fest leaving silent hill as the only true phychological-horror out their
p.s Sorry I forgot to mention the fact that eternal darkness:Sanity's Requium needs a sequal that one gave nightmares and is the only horror game that is as good as SH

So yeah, very underrated Silent Hill game.

Bascily Sielnt Hill 1 and 3 contines the Aleesa case.
Her death,her orgin,her mother's ritual and the Order.
Well Travis killed the monster of the ritual and Harry and Heather.
Basilcy all of the Order died from ritauls,monsters,WALTER,Alex and mostly Alex he ended the last remaining member of the Order.
But I do hope SH6 will come out with a new Order's ritual.

They planned to release a sequel movie with a new silent hill game (not shattered memories).
But scenerio writer of Silent Hill 2 is in jail now,so nobody knows that they will still make the sequel or not.

He went jail for 1 year becouse of a traffic accident,(if im not mistaken,he was drunk and 1 person died becouse of him) you can find news on net.

SH3 is a must, but play SH1 fisrt before you play SH3, my advice ;) SH4 is cool for the story but the gameplay is a little butchy :D

silent hill 4 isnt really a silent hill game, there is nothing to do with the town in there, if konami had just called it "The Room" then people might have liked it better.

silent hill 4: the room was originally concebed like a game en the same universe than the others silent hill games but separated form the original main titles, for that reason the gameplay is different to the other titles from the silent hill saga...
that's what they did but the finished calling the game silent hill 4 the room what did sucks in my opinion, but it's still good...

This theme was great for the game's little movie when you wait to long, Alex running through foggy streets, talking to shady looking people. The best part is when he's talking to his mom when she's rocking in the chair holding the gun in her lap, this song playing and she says "No.... they're all gone..." truely a good game ^^

I wasn't a huge fan of "Hometown" from the Silent Hill 3 OST. It's a remix of the Silent Hill 1 theme, and could be heard in a lot of the Silent Hill: Origins trailers. I can't stand the vocals. The lyrics are very subpar in comparison to the other Silent Hill songs. And while I can /tolerate/ it, 6 minutes of the dreadful vocals is too much.
Every other musical piece Akira Yamaoka has written however, is nothing short of genius!

I -completely- agree with you. Cradle of Forest (from SH4) was slightly more tolerable, but I just don't like Romersa's voice... It has that creepy edge, but... I dunno

I actually enjoy Cradle of Forest! It has simpler vocals. It actually sounds in tune. I still think Mary should do all the SH vocal pieces! :)

Nothing's wrong with them. They're all great tracks. But the vocal tracks like "Theme of Laura", and "You're not Here" add another layer to the music. The lyrics are quite amazing.

I started with Silent Hill 1 as well. Man those were the freaking days! Silent Hill was not the best game for a 10 year old to play :) First time I played it, I got so scared at the Alley (dream sequence), that I stopped playing for a week. Haha.
Sorry for the reminiscing! I almost forgot my point. My point was that I started with 1, and still love the Vocal tracks!

Yeah, I don't have my copy any more either :( I spilled cola on it a few months after beating it. I didn't realize that I had spilled cola on it, and when it dried, it was all clumpy and stuff. I tried to clean it off, but the dried cola ripped parts of the disc off too. Ruined the disc :( What a shame. Great game.

I didn't play silent hill, but I played Resident evil 1 and 2 when I was just a little 3rd grader. Not a very good idea playing scary games when you're little lol ^_^

Oh yes, Resident Evil scared me as well. Resident Evil 2 was the first Playstation game I ever played.
Nowadays, I don't know how anyone can find it all that terrifying... I mean, it might just be me, but with the exception of the first game in the series, they've all just been fun, but not scary.

Oh yeah, even the strongest, most intelligent monsters (cough, Hunters, cough) can't figure out how to get through a simple, wooden door (with the exception of the zombies/Hunters in the first game). Nemesis just shows that door who's boss.

that's what re was about that state of paniced fear that you get when somthing attacks you which was only restablished with re4 but becuase the fact that your character could take several axes to the face it became more of a slaghter-fest leaving silent hill as the only true phychological-horror out their
p.s Sorry I forgot to mention the fact that eternal darkness:Sanity's Requium needs a sequal that one gave nightmares and is the only horror game that is as good as SH
