very nicely done. you should be very proud. I can't believe anybody would have less than a very positive response to your playing. don't listen to those wanabees.
Keith is a great guitarist, but some of his solos sound like he uses number 8 wire for strings. Mick Taylor is the man here, his brilliance in undeniable
if keith watchs you play that solo he wouldn´t be happy at all... too much fingers, too fast, but no soul and no taste in it... better the taylor part
Excellent. Thanks, I have been working on the solo by ear for a while and this helps nailing it down. Incredible how good E pentatonic can be in the right hands.
Good job on Keith's part but the sliding 6ths get a little loose as he begins Taylor's solo. All in all a solid effort. That album has some of the best guita playing ever, Mick Taylor busts out some screamers on Strat Cat Blues. At his best few can match his fluidity and attack.
this is awesome!! mick taylor did a great job with the stones but i dont think this is the best solo from sympathy. the job keith did at the steel wheels tour is just a tan better if ya ask me. of cause the sound quality from the 60's makes it a little unfair to judge but still i wouldt give the edge to keith if you take his work on the steel wheels tour. but hey just my opinion guys ;)
yeah, he's doing a good job there! and we all know that keith isn't the best and fastest guitarist in the world. but he is one of the best writers ever born together with Mick.. GLIMMERTWINS
yeah and i think that very few peoble actualy realise how good keith is. i mean there are very few succesful coverbands of the stones and i think keith have a great part in that. oh and btw all ya peoble saying that the best line up was with richards and taylor i can only agree. sure ronny is good but he aint no mick taylor ;) sad he didn't get time to show his skills
yes, your right about keith. maybe he isn't very good technical, he has a special gift. he can thngs other guitarist can't, althow he isn't as fast as joe satriani:P. keith is the best.
and ronnie isnt as good as mick taylor. if the stones play songs live like 'shine a light' or 'sway'' you can see that ronnie doesn't play micks solo's as good as mick.
I've allways been told that these solo's were recorded in the studio, and dubbed in the live album afterwards... If so, they could have hired you in! Great job.
yeah i watched the live video for this song on dvd and keef looks gob smacked because he has just showed him right up i was gob smacked when i first heard this solo
congratulations. that was very good. great to see what the actual notes being played are. quite simply the solos on this record are THE best guitar solos ever.
does anyone have any idea where i could get the tab for either keith or micks solo? i cant seem to find them, and they are my favorite solos ever. i want to learn them so bad. please anyone help me out.
You sound like Mick Taylor-Ha! Seriously, nice note-for-note attempt at that one. You really picked a great solo as I have also loved that one for a long time. It's the one off of "Get Your Ya Yas Out" right?
Nice job for the first 1:20. Stick with Keith's leads. Some of Taylor's leads are too technically difficult for even good guitarists to replicate. Taylor plays extremely smooth and you can hear every note clearly. Not many missed notes even when he goes on very fast runs. His string bending is world class.
Dude, that gets a "10" from me and I'm a tough cookie to crack. It's one of my favourite solos of all time and major kudos to you for posting this. I've stolen loads of licks from this solo over the years but never played the whole thing. Your SG really nails the fat tone too. It's such a shame that MT is such a sad pathetic has-been who seems to churn out Stones songs at obscure blues festivals. He's best remembered as the blonde haired prettyboy genius of the Stones golden period.
Who's solo is it more of? Mick Taylor or Keith Richards? Don't have any video of them in action on this song. The middle of the song has to be Keith when he slowly goes up and down the strings. Let me know if anyone knows for sure.

I take my hat off to you. This practically the same version as I know it from the album. Taylor can be proud of you. This is one of my favourite songs on the album. Now I finally saw how he did it. Thanks, great stuff.
