  • your hillarious man

  • I want to go here

  • Ah, okay. I've seen those. Just didn't know that was what it was called... or nicknamed, or whatever.

  • ! how do you find these? I've always wanted to test a car. (not mine) ^.^

  • Find what? The course? I found them on google. If you're anywhere near Ohio then Mid Ohio is the place to go, otherwise your local racetrack may have similar classes.

  • that was awesome! you did good! very nice vid! thats the first Ive seen a defense driving course! skidding is the craziest! because you have to know when to let off gas, when to brake, when to let off brake, and when to gas! much more difficult without abs! you have to pump where abs would normally work!

  • That's one of the things that I learned though - even with ABS your steering is not 100% and you may have to lift off the brakes a little to share more of your available traction with the steering. Depends on what you need to do. Stopping in a straight line in wet = abs. Steering with ABS may require you to modulate the brakes.

  • Nice. You did well in the course.

  • Thanks. It was a lot of fun and the skid car was a real eye opener. I *did* brutalize several cones, but my car suffered no damage at all. I bought a used car bra and installed it just for this day - that saved me from the worst of the scuffs. Without it I'd have been left with rubber scuffs to clean off.

  • Yeah, I saw the cones you ran over, but good driving nonetheless.

    What's a "car bra"?

  • I bought the bra used because I was only going to use it for the course (and the next course in 2 weeks). The bra has a bunch of cone scuffs on it now - but better that than my bumper having those scuffs...

  • Looked like fun, do they usually let you use your own car?

  • For this course "Adult Defensive Driving" two of my fellow students also used their own cars. They do allow you to use your own car, within reason. Gotta have good tires, brakes etc. Sensible stuff.

The next level up from here, "Advanced Defensive Driving" does many of the same drills only at higher speed, and they specifically say that vans and SUVs are not permitted, and convertibles must have rollover protection.
