@SpokenVerse oh i will, it was totaly brilliant i loved every bit of it, my dad and mum use to read Poe/Shakespeare and others and poetry ! to me as a small child
Could you do 'tiger tiger buring bright ....?" that would be awesome !
@MrDdoughnuts That's only true if you are speaking Spanish. The way it is pronounced here is the only pronunciation given in the Oxford English dictionary. It's true that there's a modern fashion for pronouncing foreign words like a foreigner, but if that case why not pronounce it like an Italian? This is the traditional English pronunciation.
I am 14 years old, known as one of the 'scary' or 'goth' kids at school. Reading this in English class right now, and Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favorite authors.
its been six years since I heard this story as a Freshman in English class. Enjoy this awesome story, because no one's going to force you to read great stuff like this later!!
I always find it interesting that quite a few of Poe's stories were first published in ladies magazines of the period, kind of like if Cosmopolitan or Ladie's Home Journal had chosen to publish Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot' or 'Carrie' in one of their 1970s issues.
@darkruler65 I always feel pretentious if I imitate native pronunciation - and get irrationally irritated when I hear other people do it. To avoid this I usually pronouce it Armadillo. But don't just take my word for it - hear the anglicised pronunciation at thefreedictionary dotcom.
i didn't think price or rathbone could be bettered at phrasing and intonation (of poe), but you have just dethroned them with this singular rendition.
whos reading it ?

@cha5 You're right that's very interesting, and man imagine if that had actually happened.. haha
tbh I'd be just as shocked if something written by someone with even half a brain cell appeared in something like Vogue.
