  • you should be saying the letter "W" like "Double-you" not "Dubba-yu" thats like a southern accent.

  • Did anyone else notice that she mispronounced both "often" and "address"? Otherwise, this is a good video.

  • @kleg0202

She didn't mispronounce either words. 'Often' can be pronounced with a silent 't' or a voiced one, and as for geographical distribution, I've heard it both ways with about an equal distribution across the States. I pronounce it with the silent 't'. I pronounce 'addresses' as she does though, and I found that to be the more common pronunciation in the States, though I have heard the differently stressed version, 'aDRESSes'. Hope this helps :)

  • @Sebas13579 Dictionaries, until quite recently (when they decided that they would abandon their attempts to advise the public on language, preferring instead simply to record usage), deplored "often" with the 't' pronounced. It should only rhyme with soften.

As for "address," both are acceptable today, but the second syllable has traditionally had the stress. If she were not teaching pronunciation, I should not remarked that it was wrong.

It did not help, but thanks for the thought.

  • when u pronounce the letter ''R'', cant u notice a little a at the beginning?

  • don't call yourself an accent master, if you can't even pronounce the letter z. Try pronouncing it the correct way (zed, not zee)

  • @DragonTamer657 English pronunciation is a matter of protocol according to where one lives and learns to speak English. It seems rather immature to argue about whether the name is 'zee' or 'zed' since the English language is spoken in more than one country. Of course there will be regional differences. Neither one is right or wrong. At any rate, it is rude to toss insults for something so trivial. Isn't the world full of more pressing matters than this?

  • Very helpful. If you redo it, you might add "b" to the first group.

  • pls we need more videos

thanks for the effort you do exert.

  • zed? lol!!

  • good, this vedio helped me to pronounce the all letters to in english and make americans understand when ever i speak.

  • Wow, what an interesting dialogue about /z/. I know that spelling things out when you are misunderstood is a good strategy. This video is to help you if even spelling it out leads to frustration and misunderstanding. Not trying to push anything on anyone!

  • Fucking Americans pushing their accents and pronunciation on to the world=P Well I believe it's only retards that say zee,and the rest of the world says zed

  • I am from Montana, we say worsh your car. Now I live in Worshington. LOL

  • thank you .. is very usefull

  • We thank you

  • z is not pronounced as zee. It is zac. Stoopid!!!

  • If you say it in English it's pronounced zee. You're not a native speaker, are you? The lady in the video is an experienced speech therapist and I'm an English teacher.

  • z is pronounced as zac, not zee. What did this zee come from?

  • I'm really lost. In the UK we say zed or zee, in the US they say zee. Those are the English speaking countries. You are talking to English natives here. We have no reason to lie, so why are you so sure you are right?

  • 2potentperson

Only American say zee and they are wrong. I am not saying u lie, just that u are unaware that u are wrong. U're an English Teacher and u might have been mistaught by your own English teacher. Just dun pass the mistake to the next generation.

  • @HoSayLiaoLah Nobody learns the majority of their native language from a teacher. We learn from our families, friends, workmates, TV, books, films etc. Are you saying the entire US population is wrong? Or only all of the people I've heard saying "zee" on film, TV, radio & in person? Maybe you're joking - I really hope you are! They say a man who argues with a fool is a fool himself, so I'm going to try my best to leave you alone now.

  • @potentperson

I am saying that people who pronounce z as zee are wrong. The Americans twisted the pronuicaton of z. The real pronounciation is zac while zee is the fake pronounciation. So u can say that the entire US population is wrong. 500 yrs ago, the whole world gets it wrong when they think the sun goes around the earth. I hope it does not take 500 years for the Americans to realize that z is pronounced as zac.

  • @HoSayLiaoLah Who cares?

  • american zee

  • This reminds of the Blues Clues.
