  • Unfortunately they didn't take the effort to tune the piano beforehand.... The problem here is not the playing, it's the detuned piano :(

  • waaaay to slow, it's not a funeral song, it's a raise to a garden!

  • :O amazing! so beautiful melody, i have this on my keyboard...i keep playing it because its such a sweet melody :)

I'm new to this, so i would like to know if its a song, because i would love to sing this :)

  • @RokettoDanFanGirl It's an aria from Xerxes an opera by G.F Haendel, so called «Ombra mai fu», you can find this aria on U Tube.

  • it's funny that you walk away just as people are applauding... :) great playing very nuanced..!

  • Stupenda interpretazione. Molto sentita.

  • Handel was a genius. Beautifully played.

  • Thanks for doing this, you have become my accompanist as I learn the vocals for this wonderful Handel Largo. Many thanks Christopher

  • another one of Handel's great music peices

  • Certanly a true artist

  • Nice. 5*

If anyone's interested--I have a guitar version posted on my site.

  • Good performance!!

  • I'm trying to learn this one now!!

  • qué interpretación hermosa,

obviamente está lejos del estilo barroco-opera,

pero igualmente le puso mucho sentimiento

    y quedó hermoso.

  • i really really like this performance! any idea what make of piano is being played?

  • Brilliantly played. I am wowed, and most pleased to see a true artist.

  • Thank you

  • It seems to me as if more than half the people on YouTube are experts...

  • Great playing. Very musical and sensitive. My only comment is that it seemed to get soft rather quickly at the very end. Maybe this was the pianist's intention(?)

  • Wonderfully played Rob. I've been a huge fan of this piece for a long time. Was curious if you had a relative named Mark Steinberg, who was a fine musician in Hawaii. You look like him. Congratulations on your playing and career.

  • mein Gott!!!! wie schön!!!! Bravo!!!

  • Fantastic performance. Really touching. Please accept these comments. My favourite part of this piece is the suspention on the interupted cadence. This arrangement didn't include that. You start too loud at 3:09 leaving no room for the melody shine out. Start mf, leaving the ff for the entry of the melody. This would be even more powerful that what you did. Also, the harmony didn't resolve at the end for some reason - not a nice effect. Again, well played.

  • bravo

  • Very moving. Often this is played in a grandiose style as a spoof as Handel intended, but I prefer this style. This melody has inspired numerous songs, among them the theme from Gone With the Wind and My Wild Irish Rose. It is also stunning on a church pipe organ.

  • You can totally tell that he is into it. when I listen to music, I don't pay attention to their hands, but instead, pay attention to their faces

  • I agree entirely with you Partypump, a wonderful rendition of this piece.

  • Despite the fact that this was played when my (then) beautiful bride came up the isle I still love it and especially this performance.

  • A lot of people use it in weddings. One good reason: it's calming! As well as exquisite.

  • absolutely beautiful. My favorite piece from my favorite composer, done beautifully. Thank you.

  • -thank you Mr. Steinberg for delivering this piece with just the perfect combination of emotion and style that it deserves!....for some reason it is a piece often butchered by other conductors and musicians. Another favorite of mine is Kathleen Battle's (Margo Garrett on piano) arrangement performed during her recital at Carnegie Hall in '92...available by way of audio and video! SUPERB!
