I used to go to Dahl violin in Minneapolis and let Robert to do the rehair for me. I have not been going there for a long time. I think that due to my economical situation he asks only for around $46 US.
Now , the shim on the tip of the bow is very critical. You can ruin the bow if the pressure of the shim pulls the grain of the wood apart. I never owned an expensive bow . Therefore I believe that , to repair a $2000 or more bow it will easily be more expensive.
I bought this dvd and very glad I did. I video quality could have been a bit better but overall I learned a lot. I have done violin repair for years but never learned to rehair. I have done 3 rehairs so far. Will keep at it and keep improving. Thanks for putting this together at such a reasonable price.
I was playing my Synthesized Zeta . I did pay a lot of money for it and unfortunately
I am not getting much out of it. I have been playing my acoustic violin lately . Less complicated.. Sorry if I scare you ( Don't worry , its not on the DVD.) Thank's for watching anyway.
Put a drop of "superglue for wood" on the tied ends of the hair and the hair will NEVER pull out. It is very important that you specifically use the "superglue for "wood" "
Do not do this at home. You can really crack the tongue of the frog or damage the tip. Only trust a french or french-trained bow maker.
