I know Ergo Proxy's world are alternate universe where people keep saying that it is more suitable in english (dub or not) I only watch it in Japanese, because the dub is silly seriously. And i am not an english speaker by native so i dont really care about english dub. And to tell the truth by dubbing it, they made Vincent looks 50% less badass in the last scene. There is a reason we worship seiyuu.
- Pino sounds more genuinely like a child most of the times and more like a machine when she's spitting out data again (same goes for all auto-reivs really).
- Vincent's character progression from insecure immigrant to self conscious live-by-the-day figure is more pronounced.
- Daedelus at least has a male voice (though still not very manly).
- Re-l sounds more bitchy and older, which is fitting, especially if you've seen the talkshow episode.
@yuukicro I watched the entire series in Japanese. English imo is more fitting for this anime for 2 reasons. 1) The Japanese pronunciation of "Re-L Mayer" led the subtitlers to believe her name was "Lil Mayer" and so they fucked that up in the translation. 2) The characters clearly read and write in English and their speaking Japanese instead makes it less congruous. Most were given English or Western names. I don't really think that they were intended to be Japanese characters

In the English version, the flawed English is simply replaced by a proper English one. Also in Japanese you'll miss some of the linguistical references such as the Re-l/Re'A'l/Real2 construction. Iggy's "flamboyant gay" personality as mentioned in an interview doesn't really work in Japanese either,
The problem is that as the series were initially 'recorded' in Japanese, while some/most things improve, others are lost in translation more by 'redubbing' them back into English, such as Re-l's initial stance towards Vince.
Geographically/culturally Ergo Proxy is a different story alltogether.

@KramLlessur Essentially humans depleted Earth's resources and left the planet on giant spaceships and left Proxies to manage these domes with artificial humans to help restore the planet over the next few thousand years (I'm a bit fuzzy on details but it's something like that). We see here the humans are returning to earth and with that means the death of the proxies and artificial humans. Vincent is preparing himself for the fight and what's to come.
In my opinion this was a really good anime to watch. I was actually sad that it ended but also happy to see how they all came together at the ending scene :)
why does everyone always complain about voice actors? why dont you watch an anime for what it is an anime not for the voice actors. if it hurts you that much to hear the english voice actors then dont watch the dub.
My favorite anime ending. What the staff of Ergo Proxy did with this somewhat undergorund anime series is really amazing. I expect this kind of quality from some more respected mainsteram anime like Code Geass, but imo Ergo Proxy surpasses it

Uhm,.. I actually like the English dub better:
