most run outs like this... need flood water... or a body of water... and then when the sand is removed.... it gushes out..... it happens at my local beach... lake cathie < lake mouth

so it depends if that big mass of water is there when you go... but the surf in waimea is legend

Its only there for a short while. When the wiamea river swells up after a heavy rain the lifeguards cut a channel between the ocean and the river to let the water out. It creates this standing wave as the water rushes to the ocean. its gone when the excess water empties. Only lasts a bunch of hours i believe
