I freaking love this song. Not a day goes by without me listening to that on my Ipod. But this concert performance... I'm mind-blown!! Exceptional voice indeed.

  • Awesome. Amazing. Susumu Hirasawa is a genius.

  • I wish I could bring him to my university to perform!

  • @pheenix42 man, if there is one thing i do before i die, it will be seeing this man live... and it will have been a life worth living just for that moment (and i am not kidding)

  • RIP Satoshi Kon, you were a GREAT director and artist. I loved Paprika. It was a great movie...I hope you lived life to the fullest while you were here...I hope you got everything you wanted out of life and have moved on to a better place.

As for Hirasawa-Sama...He has a very unique voice that just can be recognized no matter what...its just so amazing, he sounds like he is 25.

He is a very skilled singer. I know that for sure...Susumu Hirasawa, you're really something~

  • F*ckin Master Piece *w*

  • He should have performed this song at Satoshi Kon's funeral.

It would have represented Kon's journey into Heaven.

This song must be "Byakkoya" it means ""White tiger oil field in Vietnam"

  • @masanolink You're partially right, this particular song is the paprika version called "byakko no" The original song name is baikai.

  • Dear god, he hits that chorus perfectly.

  • My taste in music changes constantly, yet I keep coming back to this song. I never get bored of it.

  • such a beautiful song

    Thank you for sharing

  • (^_−)−☆

  • what an amazing artist...!!Personal opinion: you can tell the significance of an artist by the way he/she performs live! And Susumu Hirasawa is absolutely breathtaking live(through youtube,so this x1000 must be the performance's real value..)...

  • Suddenly I want to see a laser show at my local planetarium set to this song.

R.I.P. Satoshi Kon~ Thank you for your wonderful and inspiring works. <3

  • I can't wait for the Dream Machine, Satoshi's final film. The development started before his death, but must be finished without him...

  • Comment removed

  • @Drayconic13 can't wait for it too!! From the title you can tell something surreal and magical must be going on..

  • @Drayconic13 Hirasawa is writing the soundtrack for the film. :' ] Shame Satoshi Kon will never hear it.

  • I'm 24yo and I always have a tear in my eye every time I hear this song and is it just me or every time I hear it I think of toy story?

  • When he hits those high notes I absolutely melt ~.~

  • This guy is frigging epic

  • Thank you Susumu Hirasawa. You are what made Paprika, Paprika. You have reall out done yourself.

Satoshi Kon, your body and soul may have left this earth, but your love and memory will remain forever. Thank you, Satoshi, we are eternally greatful :)

  • Awesome song to just lie back and dream to.

  • i love this song <3

  • On an unrelated note, the way he tilts his head when he sings high parts (like Ano hi ya) is really cute. >_>

  • @LovetteCher IKR! <3 I love that man so much T_T Lol.

  • I remember reading somewhere "Yoiya naze ni mugen to bihai" (or close) and it being "Intoxicated and wondering about life". So, I assume it's a positive song.

  • hopefully Hirasawa San is still alive and continue doing great music. RIP Kon Satoshi.

  • one of the best singers i have ever heard, lol, i remember talking with my friend and we agreed, when you first hear hirasawa singing, you think he's some 20-something guy, what i mean is, he's got a very young sounding voice. love to see him in concert, would be so cool

  • I have only three favorite Japanese directors: Akira Kurosawa, Satoshi Kon, and Hayao Miyazaki......PS: One of the best soundtracks ever....

  • this song is just uplifting

    a.m.a.z .i.n.g

  • wonderful performance, thanks for the upload

  • I'm no singer, but I'm thinking that the breathing in this song must be a bitch to time properly...... never mind making the music at the same time like Hirasawa-sama is doing here!

  • Kaito~ : D he's singing at the beginning : D lawl i is a dork yes?

  • Oh gosh! This song sounds so awesome!!

    Yay for Susumu Hirasawa♥

  • I really think a collaboration between Susumu Hirasawa and Animal Collective would seriously be a good idea.

  • What was up with the weak response of the audience?

I would have been on my feet screaming cheers and crying.

  • @Selphiriia The Japanese are generally...more contained during live performances, I've noticed. I think it's a cultural thing. (Something I greatly appreciate, due to not having to strain to hear the performer over all the spazzing in the audience.)

  • This music and music video is trippy lol

    Love it though.

  • Awsome song!

  • He's awesome but he seriously needs more love!

  • ♥♥

  • This song is included in my morning and evening routine. :) ***love** It makes me float in the air and wander through the universe. :)

  • he has an amazing voice n__n

paprika was a great movie also.

  • At 3:03, it sounds like shes speaking mandarin chinese, hmmmm

  • @rethok I have been told it's Vietnamese. She ought to know she is Vietnamese.

  • oh wow i just wanted to confirm but at 3:03 that lady speaks in vietnamese. cool.

  • @namman lol idk i have heard people say mandarin, tiawanese, and vietnamese. but i only speak japanese and it is obvious fromt he rest of the song it is not. lol

  • OMG this is GOLD!

  • i'm speechless xO

  • Great song

    Thanx

  • I have learned all but one part of this song, I am proud of myself, now I just need a webcam so that I may sing it to the world! >:D

  • @ZeroBoyY lol i want to seee =]

  • One of those artists I hope to see live before I die!

  • What do the opening lines "Yoi ya nonde jinrui geko bihai" mean? I'm pretty sure it's the undistorted version of what's said in the original song, but I have no idea what it means.

  • "Intoxicated and wondering why there is infinity and beauty" Thats what is means.

  • Thank you.

  • I was told it was "Yoiya naze ni mugen to bihai"...and now i am confused T.T

  • In the recorded version of the song that plays during and at the end of the movie, there are female vocals, and that's what they say. His vocals say "Yoi ya nonde jinrui geko bihai".

    Hope that helps! ^^

  • sank ye! :D

  • @ZeroBoyY that is right but i think it changes through out the song. like i think it is only that a few times.

  • Thanks for uploading this. AMAZING. Subarashiiiiiiii

  • sugoiiiiiiii!!!!!

    arigatooooooooooo ♥

  • can anyone tell me which live performance of Susumu's where the audience had to guide through a maze. (i think it was a maze, its been awhile since i saw it) but i wanna show it to some friends

  • msg sended

  • @enigmalsd >< that interests me can i get a link aswell??.....and it;s true this guy is a genius

  • @enigmalsd can you do that for me, too, please?

  • Oh and know somebody, the name of the music tahat comes after "The Girl in Byakkoya" ?

  • it is アティドゥーの番人 or ATIDOの番人.

it is from the "byakkoya live memorials", its length is about 8 minutes. the 'second part' of the song is a kind of instrumental version of the song called "the stillborn city" with some arrangements, from Byakkoya album.

  • thnaks verry much :)))

  • This is really perfect, excelent :))) Hirasawa is a master of sound and music :)))

  • The man is a musical genius.

"Hi everyone, this is our homeland, this is our future"

the speech in the middle of the song is Vietnamese.

I don't know why composer puts it in the song.

btw, I love this film, this song, it always makes me feel better

  • I think the speech part adds a nice touch~

This song and Hirasawa is pure AWESOMENESS!!

  • > I don't know why composer puts it in the song.

Because this song uses the history of White Tiger Oil Field, which is the biggest oilfield in Vietnam, as the motif, and sings a story which implies various things through it.

  • is this an extended version?!?! I luv it!!!! Is there an mp3 for this!!!! <3

(Or do i hav to convert this?)

  • This is ORIGINAL version.

And from album Byakkoya, there is a free mp3 "The Westward of Time". Go to his official site "NO ROOM".

  • everytime when i hear this song it just makes me wanna dance!!!

  • and i dont dance!!!

  • A great music and Susumu Hirasawa is a good composer. I love.

J'aime.

  • My husband and I got married to this song last year in December.... <3

  • Congratz!

  • Thank you. <3

  • @setokaibalover25 u r cool!

  • Ever since i watched Paprika, i cant get the music out of my head. The soundtrack was just so damn good.

Yoiya naze ni mugen to bihai....word...

  • I wish we could get this performer to do a show at the university I work for...I'd definitely take vacation time to catch his show!

  • Je suis d'accord avec vous.

  • Can you check those lyrics for me? There are two versions of this song and I think the lyrics provided are for the other version.

Still, 5 stars for effort ^_^

  • Just google, "Live Byakkoya".

There is still the site of Live Byakkoya, and it has English "Story" page.

  • Something like that.

His Interactive Live has RPG like story that have good end and bad end. And audience's action is trigger for developments of different stories and different performance.

This is one of bad ends in LIVE Byakkoya.

In good end, you can see Sigma 12's face:D

  • i love his voice! such an awesome song <3

  • the very minute i finished paprika i ordered the ost. and this was, without a doubt, my favorite track. but i would never have imagined it had been performed live!

he really is amazing. thanks for uploading.

  • It's amazing that Hirasawa is in his 50's and still keep such a youthfull voice and creativity.
